  • I reckon he’s just showing off his new purchase, not necessarily to charlton fans but other businessman on there that must follow him, scrolling through his followers I found a ‘saeed Nayhan’ which I can only assume is one of the ruling family.
    That's his boss!
  • I don’t see why his excellency would be over here posting so much Charlton related content on is Instagram account if an announcement wasn’t imminent. My guess (and it is only a guess!) is that everything will be confirmed by the end of this week.
    I heard two weeks.
    So did I.................two weeks ago!
  • With the transfer window opening soon I think what happens with this in next fortnight is really important.

Sounds like they're already trying to run the club:

    HRH Lee Bowyer said

“What I will echo is that the sooner it happens, the better – for everybody. Because we need to know what we’re working with and who to go to, that’s the hardest thing.

“Steve [Gallen, head of recruitment] is still going to Roland but these other people have come in saying ‘do this and do that’.”

The wages for all Charlton employees are still being paid by Duchatelet which is so frustrating for Gallen as he doesn't known if it's Novak or Jarrod Bowen he should be talking to.
The feelers are put to players agents months before the transfer window opens. Steve and Lee are in Limbo and each day that passes makes it more difficult to get players, if they are in demand and other clubs have already made contact.

  • I thought the whole ‘strange’ comment had been clarified?

The way I interpreted Bowyers clarification of ‘strange’ was during their meeting they more than likely talked about the future. His contract, players contracts, transfer budget and more. If they said they wanted to tie Bowyer and his team down beyond a 1 year deal, that would be ‘strange’ as Bowyer is not used to it. Same with player contracts, vast majority are signed on 1 year deals or are coming the end of their current contracts. I personally thought it was obvious what Bowyer was referring to when talking about ‘strange’.

If you go from someone who doesn’t show much interest to someone who appears to be giving you the world. You would be taken back by it, no?

No nothing like that. Bowyer said it was regarding the running of the club and the thought some of the ideas Southall spoke to him about were "strange". He backtracked slightly saying strange didn't mean a bad thing but I personally got the issue he was slightly concerned.

I must admit I didn’t see the first interview. Only the last one on Sky where he sought to clarify the strange comment.

"The way I interpret.." and "...they more than likely..." Is not really clarification though is it mate. I thought the "strange" comment was just left hanging

I don't think any of it was reference to contracts, transfers etc and the comment was based purely on what was said regarding how they were going to run the club.

It's certainly not clear what Bowyer really thought of it, sure time will tell!
  • Olly has said on twitter that not planning for anything T***o*** related today either

Would love to pick Tahnoon up in my cab tonight , free ride and a very long chat about our history , where we’ve been and what he should do. Fingers crossed.
His choice of company name shows he may already be aware of some of our history... He also already has shown by getting Southall to attend games and meet with fans and by the public statement he gets so much more of what and who we are than Duchatelet ever did.

In the freak event you do bump into him, please don't try to tell him what to do. Maybe advise him of what to avoid doing i.e don't call us customers, don't tell us we're 2% of your interests etc

Surely he has a private driver,  not jumping in a stinky hackney

Is that a bit like showing off you've just bought a Austin Mondeo, keeping it quiet and hiding it would be more appropriate in case everyone takes the piss

If anyone would like to have an interesting (but totally irrelevant) insight to the amount of wealth in the higher echelons of life in Abu Dhabi, here's a bit of information that I thought was interesting when I first found out about it.

The Kempinski hotel group claims to be the oldest luxury hotel group in the world.  Their properties serve some of the most affluent visitors in some of the richest locations in the world, including Vienna, Moscow, Geneva, Beijing, Singapore and Cairo.  They're expensive (example: one night, in January, in the Red Square Suite in Moscow can set you back £1,300 (includes buffet breakfast)).  They have four properties in the United Arab Emirates, including the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, and their sole Abu Dhabi property, the Emirates Palace.

If you want to book one night in the poshest accommodation at the Emirates Palace, you can currently book their best flexible rate which is just over £6,800 for the night.  Unfortunately, that doesn't include breakfast.

But what's the thing that makes this hotel stand out as catering more for the wealthiest people on the planet than most other "posh" hotels?  Nine years ago, it installed the world's first gold vending machine.  That is, a vending machine that is entirely made of 24ct gold.  And what does it dispense?  Gold.

It operates 24 hours a day.  So, any time, day or night, when you find yourself short of gold (and it's happened to each of us, hasn't it?), you can use the vending machine to buy gold bars or coins.
Call me old fashioned but I prefer the old school panning method.

I’m surprised no one else has said similar before.
  • For clarity, Roland Duchatelet felt the scrutiny and passed the EFL's fit and proper person test.... And it didn't take him this long!

    :-(
  • I fear we  may just be too late to hold on to Lyle. I'm sure he has been spoken to by a number of clubs already.

Would that be allowed? - Can only speak with foreign clubs prior to his contract being up

Of course clubs can speak to his Agent but no terms could be discussed (unless said club says we'll offer £20k p/w) as they've still got to negotiate a price with us before they can actually speak with the player

Else we could effectively complain (Yup, hi EFL / FA its us again!!) about our player being tapped up

Wonder if its because of your Duchatalet's within Football that the EFL have decided to take more time to assess these takeovers
