I thought there was more to the Usmanov rumours than just that ‘sighting’ could be wrong though. I’ve heard it a few times.
What about a dream scenario - Usmanov has always been on the investment side of things, because the Arsenal deal has been mooted for a while. Maybe that deal has been taking a little longer. Paperwork was submitted to EFL with Usmanov named, knowing he's not out of Arsnal yet, but will be. Basically it's all good to go ready but 'rejected' until dual interest is settled. RD knows this too and technically while the money isn't there, it will be. To use the house buying, we're in a chain of sale. So all talk of a secondary interest etc can be true, because it can always fall through or be gazumped, but likelihood all are agreed to just wait. But that takes time. It can't be talked about because of both NDA on us AND Arsenal. So this difficult two weeks is A) they have been aware it'll be happening but still waiting for the AFC shares sale to be agreed and made public. Aussies aware we're all getting twitchy but they can't do anything about it. C) RD is minimising his outlays, now it's unlikely there will be any major sales like a Lookman or Konsa now. D) The transfer deadline is annoyingly close by coincidence, so whereas they expected this to be done early 2018 or after the playoffs, they have been waiting for what they have always know was likely to happen. Just, like us they have been waiting longer than expected. Because it's not just been their business plans that have been an influence, also Arsenal. Maybe Usmanov would like the idea of being more influencal than he is at Arsenal, and for less outlay. All without 'moving' from London. I'm obviously guessing. But hey, a man can dream.....
Ah... schoolboy error...sunglasses smiley face or B followed by a bracket? Hang your head!
Balls. The annoying thing, that whole thing was written in emojis EXCEPT for the B followed by bracket.... What actual words came out was purely coincidental.

The indications from the close to Usmanov, however, suggest he is more likely to look at other Premier League or European clubs rather than switch his attention to Goodison Park.
That doesn't sound like us
Regardless of the significance of the Arsenal sale to the future finances at Everton – and it this stage there appear to be none - it is unlikely to be the last time Usmanov is linked to an English club.

We're an English football club, why not us?
So what the bloody hell is Keith Harris doing if he can't even see a possible investor right under his own nose...!!??
There is no actal 'deadline', but the comment 'a couple of difficult weeks ahead' etc was made two weeks ago today. I'm clinging on to the hope that something might happen this week, but of course it probably won't @Goonerhater

Bravo that man. I suggest @Airman Brown should get digging.

The reason Usmanov gives for getting out of Arsenal is that his 30% doesn't give him any control. For that reason, joining a CAFC consortium would make no sense unless a democratic form of control was written into the deal. But thinking, OK dreaming, further, what if Usmanov has seen the Abramovic visa writing on the wall and instead of Israel he prefers a new home in Oz ? So buying into the Aussies cunning plan gets him brownie points when it comes to making his visa application and everything becomes much more logical.

JS, those Aussie straws are made of stern stuff...
Because you're still tightly clutching at them...
They've survived at least three rumours that it's 'definitely' or 'officially' off, and each time it hasn't been, so why wouldn't I believe/hope it's still on? Anyway, there doesn't seem to be a viable alternative, at the moment at least.

Pushing our/your luck if you were to drop GM a text asking what the latest is @JamesSeed?
Would give anything for chink of light in this tunnel of despair.

Me too. But I’m doing nothing until Friday. Gotta let that man have his two difficult weeks unhassled.
Shaun Harvey heads up the EFL. I'm sure it's not difficult to work out his email address.
What exactly would he do?
Look at the mess at Blackpool and the EFL have done absolutely nothing. This was a comment when they met with Blackpool fans.
"The meeting began with Harvey issuing an overview of the EFL, what it is and what its main objectives are - a presentation that lasted almost 30 minutes. He then outlined the background to the Owners’ and Directors’ Test and explained why Owen Oyston is considered fit and proper to own a club, while Belokon is currently banned under the EFL’s rules. Harvey made it clear the test only seeks to determine eligibility, not capability.
If they see no reason to kick convicted rapist Oyston out, we've got no chance with Roly.

Think the Aussies should just fuck off now , look how much grief they are before they’ve even bought the club
These are my favourite type of posts.
Why are the Aussie's grief?
Are the 'British consortium' also grief as well, because if they do indeed exist, they seem to equally be struggling to get a deal through?
What would be the benefit to Charlton now if the Aussie's were to fuck off?
Why, considering Charlton has been openingy up for sale for a couple of years now, is it taking so long for anyone to buy us?
For me personally, not knowing any inside information or to be honest have an understanding how a football club takeover works, lays the blame solely on Roland. He has managed to fuck everything else up at this club in his wierd and wonderful ways, so I am definitely more inclined to believe he is the reason behind the protracted take over as well.
Despite the lack of a takeover this thread has been terrific entertainment, mostly due to the clash between NLA and James Seed. The posturing and strutting of the main exponents has been just like witnessing an old time wrestling match.
I know neither of these adversaries, but have come to imagine NLA as a big bear character, a no nonsense guy who shoots from the hip and devil may care. Little James Seed I see as an articulate fellow. He cannot hope to compete with NLA in a slugging match, but his moves are neat and concise and designed to keep the audience on side, whilst at the same time keeping absolutely everybody guessing.
Spectators have taken sides and booed and hissed. Some have even entered the ring to shout at the audience, others have taken their chairs with them and metaphorically smashed them over the heads of … er primarily little James Seed. In fact I recall one very lively Saturday night which pretty well matched anything that Mick Mcmanus and Jackie Pallo could conjure up at a rowdy Lewisham town hall in the sixties.
On August the third a buoyant North London Addick grabbed the microphone and whilst leaning over the ropes confronting the baying audience declared the match to be over, as he shouted (once again) “The Aussies ain’t got the money” and then he theatrically ‘drops the mic’ and walks away as he mutters "could’ve closed the thread in October".
I must admit I thought it was all over then. There was a period of hush and I was just waiting for Little James Seed to be stretchered from the canvass where he lay battered and blue. But no little James wasn’t finished, he lifted himself by the elbows and took another swipe at the bear ‘Ah, so this is the famous ‘waving of the willy’ that I’ve heard so much about ;-)’.
I think the fight maybe drawing to a conclusion very soon. Two falls, two submissions or a knockout … how can anyone look away now?

That’s very good. I did get stressed that Saturday night, but it was mainly a side issue and not the ‘great takeover debate’. Also, there’s been zero ‘strutting’ from me, and certainly no willy waving mic drop lol. I can still hear it echoing around the ring now.....and the gasp of the crowd. It was taken by some as meaning NLA had some conclusive info, but with all due respect to him and his mystery Roly-side sources, it meant nada. It’s not over til it’s over.
Btw, I’m hardly little :-) although I get the David and Goliath thing.
PS NLA is alright in my book, even when he called me ‘Johnny’. Or was that Doucher?
It's no coincidence that GM said "it's going to be a difficult 2 weeks" with the 2 weeks ending when the window shuts.
With the situation were in now with players leaving with no budget for replacements. I think there is some sort of agreement between Roland and Aussies for this to be happening for unknown reasons as of yet that will benefit the sale being finalised.
I believe the sale will go through soon after window shuts. Hence "it will be wortwhile". As it will be, thinking in long term.
And the Aussies might be able to have a budget in pace ready in time for loans to come in. Just my personel opinion on things..
But why would the Aussies just accept Duchâtelet trashing the asset that they are about to purchase at great expense? It just
