Stand by your beds and try not to get too excited......
"Season tickets for Charlton’s 2017/18 campaign will go on sale at 9am on Monday morning.
The Addicks will once again be one of the most affordable clubs to follow in the EFL next season, with adult prices beginning at £175 – equating to just £7.61 per league match.
Over 4,000 season tickets will be available at this price and U11s will once again be free when bought alongside an adult in the family stand.
As well as this, all season tickets purchased or renewed before the early-bird deadline will come with a free, six-month subscription to the club’s new, premium video service, which will launch on July 1st.
Full details on next season’s prices will be published at 9am on Monday morning - when they go on sale - and that is also when current season ticket holders should begin to receive their renewal packs in the post."
I'd like to personally thank the SMT for the tireless efforts in arranging their amazing price renewal for season tickets 2017/2018 It has given me the assurance that I needed to make a sound financial decision. I mean, if I was a regular at a favourite restaurant of mine and the management decide to intentionally reduce the quality and presentation of the fayre on offer, I wouldn't keep coming back if they then added insult to injury by increasing the prices on the menu too............how weird would that be
Bought STs for me & my son because I want him to support Charlton.
And believe it or not I've really enjoyed my first full season as a fan rather than a follower. Although a major highlight was going to Rochdale.
I'll have to have a proper think about it...
As everyone has been saying on this thread James it's about doing what's right for you. If I was in your situation I'd 100%buy a season ticket (cheapest one available and no extras). It's important to make sure your boy has that connection with Charlton that will help Keep him there for life.
For me now the decision to boycott is easy as it's just me and some mates who are doing the same. And I'm already stuck with Charlton so there's no issue there.

But then the restaurant analogy doesn't entirely work. Unless you live somewhere with just one restaurant withing 20 miles, you just go with your friends/family to a rival one, and get equivalent enjoyment.
With football, going to another club isn't really an equivalent option, as while you might enjoy the match, the emotional attachment won't be the same...

I used to have a season ticket in NL and before every home game, I'd read the stadium map outside the ground just to make sure I was using the correct entrance.
The amount of times I ended up in the East or West stand is too numerous to mention, due to the fact that the stadium map was so complicated. I also encountered many other individuals aimlessly wandering around, completely lost.
I, for one, welcome the closure of those blocks and cannot wait to herald in the dawn of a revamped stadium map to eradicate the confusion and unnecessary suffering that has arisen in previous seasons.
It's very rare that I actually LOL at a post (or anything else for that matter) but this did make me chuckle.

James - as others have said, very much a personal decision. But whichever it is, why not wait until August? That way:
1. You'll know whether the club will still be in Duchatelet's grubby hands or new owners
2. You'll be able to see which of our current better players are still with the club and the level of ambition/quality indicated by any incoming players
3. You'll avoid giving the regime your money up front and the opportunity to spin ST numbers
Prices officially out as is the ST brochure. Can't help but be amused of the photos in the brochure of ex players including the 'stupid' Chris Powell....... oh the irony......

Taking into consideration how devious this lot are it would not surprise me if this is the thin end of the wedge in as much as closing the cheaper sections charging more for whats left will drive even more of whats left of the fan base away.In the end them saying there is now no call for a ground of this size in the lower leagues ( for thats where we will be) in this area. Just think how many flats you could get on this area, and dont have any faith in the council with the pressure for new homes that there is now. Knowing that the Football League don't care a hoot for the fans its only about TV money coming in, they will do nothing to stop the closure of The Valley, just think what they have allowed to go on at other clubs. TV and the bookmakers rule now.

Just ask yourself this question. How many objections would the council get when they submit planning for housing on The Valley..??
There are many better, easier and more affordable pieces of land in the borough then The Valley to make money from
they're selling. trying to get as much money by increasing the price of the tickets. the buyer will also be happy with this as they will get a nice bit of cash when all the boycotters come back and buy a couple of thousand season tickets after Roland has gone.
The rate we're going at I'm assuming it would make sense to close the whole of the East Stand - crowds will dip below 5000 next season. Not a lot of point playing at the Valley...
Unless I'm missing something, I can't say I have a huge problem with closing a few blocks when the place is just over 1/4 full a lot of games.
The fact that they've driven away such a vast number of fans with dross football and alienation is the massive issue.
There's still affordable seats (£175 is cheap by anyone's standards) and a handful of people will have to move 10m or so to the left/right... Sure, at the moment they should be paying us to go with what's being served up on the pitch, but tickets are still cheap and there's plenty of room.

Caveat: Boycott is optional. Only join if it's what YOU feel is right for YOU.

What do you stand to lose? £25 off the ST.
Risk losing your seats - nah!

'Next season , a promotion push is the goal and we hope to have as many of you filing the stands at The Valley as possible'.
I thought this season was the promotion push?
