At the risk of ruffling a few feathers, I don't think anyone can count friendlies.

I'm with @se9addick in being at Boro in December....I reckon there were 10 of us there, but apparently a bit more.. We lost 2-0 I think but Les told us we'd run more miles then Boro, as the prozone had showed him, so we had something to be proud of...well, that's all right then Les...nice one :-)

    Still counts in my book......

do you count friendlies for the purpose of the 92 club elfs?
  • Was already working in Italy when I went to the Anglo-Italian cup tie away at Brescia (1993)

The total attendance was 1,174 but I think Charlton arrived with two coach-load of fans so maybe about the same or a few more than Cambridge away in the ZDS.

Slightly different but as an aside, I think I was the only Charlton supporter on the then empty away terrace at about 2.40pm at Maine Road on 11th May 1995 when the ground was otherwise full with about 47,000 Man City fans ready to celebrate their promotion to the old First Division.

Was greeted when emerging by over 40,000 singing "is that all you take away?"

Once again I was living close by whilst the official coaches and all other travelling fans had been delayed by serious accidents on the Motorways from London. More respectable showing when they turned up of course.

Was at both brescia and man city. Can't imagine there are too many others that did both.

He includes grounds he hasn't been to, but knows somebody who has used a train station within 50 miles of the ground.
I'm very particular when it comes to the criteria for pins and ticking off pins.

There's a big pin audit coming up for @j_lo when we go to Rochdale on the 18th. This is a man who thinks he can count Man City because he went to Maine Road, but is yet to go to the Etihad. Blasphemy

    Yes.

I went to Lincoln in about '87 and not been back since.

So if they come back up, and anyone asks you have you been to Lincoln in a conversation about grounds ticked off, you'll count Lincoln having seen Charlton play there in a friendly.

Officially the 92 club let you count it I believe. My criteria is you have to have seen a competitive game there.

The ultimate would be to say you've seen Charlton at all 92 clubs in a competitive game. I think maybe only fans of Wigan, Wolves, Wimbledon and Swansea may have a shot at this.

    I'll agree with you there.

By their rules it has to be official games, I even count KSC and if a development squad played somewhere.
  • With the 92 club policy I believe on new / old grounds is when a club moves to a new ground you have 2 years to still count the old ground. Best example is West Ham the 92 club will still allow you to count Upton Park but if you've not been to The London Stadium by the end of next season you can't count West Ham anymore.

Visits to grounds of teams now competing outside the Football League are only valid if all other 91 members' home grounds had been visited up to the time the now non-League Club left the League.

    Friendlies don't count either.

Those are my perceptions of the rules, others will count the teams they've seen Charlton play at rather than the ground. All taken from www.ninetytwoclub.org.uk
  • My rules are competitive fixture and once it's a new ground it's gone, and once they're out the football league they're also gone, but if they come back in and I've been (like Grimsby) then I can still count them. Hoping for Tranmere and D&R to be promoted to soften the blow of losing one from Orient, Cheltenham, Hartlepool or Notts County (looks like) this season

Went to West Ham vs Burnley for the precise reason you mention above, but that affects my ratio of grounds I've seen Charlton play at vs grounds I've been to (77) vs (81). The dream would be to say you've seen Charlton at all 92. Impossible I feel

    Agree with you.

Once a team moves to a new ground, I then have to go to the new one.

Also, I'm doing Truro v Whiehawk on the 25th March as Truro are moving to a new ground next season so I need to get the old ground in.

A good one to do would have been Carlisle who played home games at a load of grounds last season due to flooding of Brunton Park.

Definitely if you want to do the top 2 divisions anytime soon. You should be able to cover league 1 and League 2 though.
  • Hereford away, League cup 2nd leg 1989. In my mind there were about 40 Addicks there?

I agree with most of that, except that friendlies don't count - what's the justification for that ?

That was the only slither of hope under RD - that we would drop to league 2 and all of sudden Mansfield, Accrington, Newport, Luton (no I haven't been there), Cambridge and Morecombe come into play...

The 92 club do not class friendlies as professional/competitive games.

At the end of the day it comes down to the individual.

Ah but I am not worried about 92 club rules. I count my non league and friendly matches too. A ground is a ground.

You can count competitive non league games. Then you're getting into the football pyramid which is very deep and has many layers. I want no part of that

About 180 but i was pissed and seeing double and no one in the away end even knew we'd scored until it was clocked the hereford side were taking a centre circle kick off

Edit: no idea how many there but it wasn't a lot

    This set of rules definitely does count friendlies;

    https://www.the92.net/rules-and-guidelines#bmb=1

It doesn't really matter, there are no "official" rules, I just wonder why someone wouldn't count friendly matches they've been to ?
