Looking a nailed on certainty that @Henry Irving rather than I will be sending £50 to the Upbeats. (we bet on making the playoffs or not). It was a bet I would have loved to have lost. Never been in much doubt about winning. I never felt that this season was showing the promise , the occasional flair, the semblance of a squad plan, of the Parky years. And the stats show there is good reason for that feeling:

Nope, not even close. And when Roly gets through the statistics and works out KR's points per game average, KR will be handed his cards, pissing yet more of roly's "Top 6 budget" up yet more walls. KR out and congo chris or some other network patsy in. If roly allocates his time based on the 1.5% proportion of his portfolio charlton represents it might take him a couple of weeks to get around to doing his sums to realise he needs to print yet another P45.
We should aim for a further 34 points from our remaining 16 games. It doesn't guarantee the playoffs but it would've got us in in all of the last six seasons.
Well that's that question answered. I'm sure however the club is already making plans for next season, identfying targets and will get them in early, so we actually have a squad come August.

If we had an owner that understands football, then yes what you say could be done.

We have a 29% win percentage, Sheffield United have a 58% win percentage. I'm not saying we have to be as good as them, but it's disgraceful to be this much worse in this pub league.
Not this season...but after the rebuild of the squad in the summer, a new manager and a new boot storage room. Plus a top 15 budget, we will be as ambitious as we can be without getting our hopes up.

Sheffield Utd had over 27k in today as well, proper team.

You said they'd come good Mike and eventually it looks like they have, mind you even a stopped clock is right twice a day .
Unfortunately I agree, and am not a glass half empty person. If we were to lose next couple of games it could get nasty. Port Vale in the relegation places have a decent enough points total for this stage, a bit like a few years ago back in the championship when everybody had a madly unrealistic high total of points by about March. That said I think we should be okay and finish about mid table and hope Robinson gets kept on no matter what happens just for some stability.
As it stands we are eight points off the play-offs, albeit with games in hand on some of those above us and a decent goal difference. The problem is we are starting to run out of games. In the last two seasons the final play-off spot went to sides with 74 and 69 points, so we probably have to look for a minimum of 30 points from 15 games. So far we have 42 points from 31 matches, and 14 from our last 10. Unless something amazing happens the odds have to be against us as I can't see us winning ten of our last 15 games.
Played 12, Won 3, Drawn 6, Lost 3, Scored 14, Conceded 14, Points 15. (1.25 points per game).
If we maintain that then we'll finish on 60-61 points: nowhere near the play offs.
It's extraordinary this season the extent to which our strikers have been firing blanks. Ajose 7 in all competitions and then loaned out, Novak 2 in everything, Lookman 7 and then sold, Watt nil since his return. Only Magennis is in form according to his previous record. The defence is solid - for a change - but we just can't score or kill games off it seems.

Unhappy that this club hasn't made a decent stab at the play-offs let alone automatic promotion.
Yet. When it's mathematically impossible I'll find the just giving site.
