It might just be me but KR seems a lot less upbeat than usual. Slade came in full of the joys of summer and very quickly declined into looking like a man that had realised he had voluntarily strapped himself to the train tracks.
This window will be very interesting. If we sell Lookman and Fox for decent money then end up with 6x Ron Van Rons from the Belgian 3rd division, then you might as well close down the club.
The blind optimism KR showed at first has been knocked out of him already. He's got the look of a man who's just run full pelt into a brick wall and is trying to pretend everything is OK.
I don't get the criticism of KR. He's finding out what he's up against and dealing with it the best way he knows how it seems to me. Obviously he's going to put on the best "spin" that he can short of telling outright lies. Probably his biggest mistake so far was taking the job in the first place, but like most of us thinks he can succeed where others have failed. He hasn't got much to work with, and he's still learning what these (often second string) players can and can't do. Expecting great results right now is unrealistic, and speculating about the conversations with RD is futile. I feel the criticism on here is, so far, more than a little unfair.
The best spin KR can put on it would be to remain silent rather than present us with a stream of inane sycophantic drivel. If he can get a few decent players in then he should let them do the talking. If not he should walk to preserve what remains of his dignity. That said there seems to be quite a market for managers prepared to work for owners who don't give a damn about the fans - Russell Slade has now worked for Vincent Tan, RD and Sisu - so Oyston cannot be faraway.
What is it with some of you lot -'if not he should walk to preserve what remains of his dignity'.I have said it before but some of you are only genuinely happy if you see us failing - find that very sad.Give the bloke a chance
We are we are entering three months of the proof of the pudding. It goes almost without saying that everything that happens will be analysed and poured over. The stark challenge in my opinion is we need to win at Southend and then every single game in January, February and March, and if we do we can afford to draw away at Peterborough on April 1st. Time to deliver has arrived.
We can't really comment with certainty until the end of the transfer window when we see what the squad looks like then. All we can do is hope that KR has managed to persuade the old sod that the manager knows best.
You have to wonder why he had to keep on repeating that he wanted to make the club successful. Maybe Roland had his fingers stuck in his ears going "Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nahn"
If KR didn't know what he was coming into, he was a fool. If KR did know but came anyway thinking he could change it, he was at best over-optimistic. I suspect his sky is now dark with chickens coming home to roost.

To "give the bloke a chance" I do not think is an option for him or any future managers. Robinson has sold his bottom for a pound note, the same as the past and future managers under these clowns.
Robinson knew the score before he signed, as did Slade.
Blackpool72 disagrees with me about stability. I do not have a problem with the scousers appointment, but he should have kept his beak shut regards the Belgians and has created a rod for his own back.
One thing we haven't been getting in recent windows, is lots of network signings, as the only real source of these was Standard Liege. Instead we've had "spreadsheet" type punts on "promising" young players (summer 2015), experienced free transfers and loans (January 2016) and British players (summer 2016).

I agree that KR needs to be judged over time. But I've had plenty of time to judge Roly and Katy and frankly they're shit beyond belief, so I won't be giving them a chance. Let's hope they give KR a chance in the transfer window, suspect it won't be what we and he wants. We'll see.
The deal for Lookman would explain perhaps the sudden Belgium trip announcement by KR.
Its possible he was told he would keep his best players and then Daisy drops it on him that a deal has been agreed with Everton. Karl now one short of his squad asks Daisy how much of the fee will I get to buy players. Daisy says I don't know you need to speak to RD.
Karl speaks to RD and gets little assurance of who and how many players he can bring in, finally the penny starts to drop.
Jacko could have been dragged in just to back-up Karl stating to RD the squad is to weak.
Just watched the video - KR says that if the objective is not to win games, to win promotion, and to push on to the Premier league "it's a waste of time us being here". This seems to be at odds with Roly's viewpoint. There's only one way this is going to end, and it won't be pretty.
I have little doubt the meeting was important to Mr Robinson hence the nature of his earlier enthusiastic promotion of actually meeting the owner. To him it represents another a "statement of intent".
Sadly however KR's attempts to communicate tend to promote more questions than answers. Questions which he is then not in a position to answer. For our own sanity I suggest we start to take KR at face value.
I do not doubt his intent. I continue to wish him the very best in his endeavours to fulfil the intent.
His effusive style is how he operates though it at times betrays a concerning naivety. To take a group to Belgium in "the hope of a board meeting" sounded really lame. What if RD had said he was too busy?
To talk to the decision maker (Duchatelet) about his plans for the coming transfer window is a conversation coaches at most clubs will have had every week at this time of year. If he is saying only now does he know what he can do in the January transfer window what exactly has he been doing for the past 5 weeks?
It suggests lack of foresight and a lack of planning by someone which for whatever reason once again positions the club behind the timeline necessary to do the job.
In truth until we see how matters unfold over the coming weeks there is nothing to really condemn other than perhaps why make a song and dance about it? Wow KR you went to talk to your boss? Really? In essence there was nothing of note to see here. It was akin to the famed Civil Service line of having "meetings about meetings".
The detail about the "entourage" is open to interpretation but was it not any more than window dressing? It is clearly his style. It IS noise over substance. Other than KM on the financial side I not sure what contributions Barker and Jackson were able to offer the new manager could not, unless it was to counter opposing arguments from "other advisors".
The key will be the nature of any "substance" derived from the meeting to the benefit of the footballing side of the business.
After Duchatelet's recent positioning of his social value proposition for his football clubs we can but fervently hope there will clear evidence of his positive footballing intentions for Charlton over the coming weeks. KR will then know if he has joined a social club with a footballing team or an ambitious professional football club supported by a strong community focus
At one level I can appreciate the KR "collective" but I am not sure it is reflected in his closing comments.
“I want to make this club great again and you can only do that by winning games, getting promoted, competing at the next level and then pushing towards the Premier League. That’s got to be the aim.”
Sorry KR shouldn't it be "we"?
It is crucial KR secured the mandate and support he believes he needs, that in reality all the groundwork for any transfers has in large part been done and agreement was reached to move a "financial goalpost or two" to get the job done properly.
The time for intent is past. The time for delivery is upon us. Time will tell.
Barker, especially would have brought little to the table seeing that he's just arrived! Nugent would have been more useful, but then has he left/is he about to leave?

He probably took JJ to back up his thoughts. Maybe it fell on deaf ears, we will know soon enough.
