I hate to pour cold water on people's hopes but I expect that when Roland suggests that he will give up his football interests in the not too distant future it just means that he will pass them on to members of his family. He has already done this a couple of times.

Hopefully, they'll want to spend their inheritance on themselves rather than throwing more cash down the hole that is Charlton Athletic.
  • Roland, I hope you choke on a brussel sprout this christmas.
    Pun intended.
  • It is getting to the point where I look at the Forbes List and wonder if there is anyone there who would be interested in buying a ailing club that does have potential, so far. Jeff Lurie is there, owns a very high profile NFL team (that's worth s x20). anyone know a way to get to him!!
  • It’s unexpected that I’m now back in football at STVV because the club had to be sold by the former to someone else and there wasn’t anyone and it was also an annoying situation, but actually I think that I can input much more in other areas – in social/ economic areas

He could help in these area's by simply leaving! He's made it a social and economic disaster and that's sad considering it was once a great comunity club!

Does anyone know when the next set of financials come out for Charlton?

Company Accounts have to be filed with Companies House 9 months after their financial year ends.

Charlton's financial year ends the 30th June, and tend to submit their accounts towards the end of that 9 month window. So we're looking at March.

March for Charlton Athletic Football Company Ltd - https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/01788466/filing-history
The Same for Baton 2010 Ltd - https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/07326155/filing-history

If anyone has access to Duedil - perhaps via work - then they should be able to get Belgian accounts and credit reports. I did this around a year ago a few times, but I no longer work there and they've finally deleted my account. This may be interesting for Staprix.

They have to lodge the 15/16 accounts by the end of March. In previous years this regime has disclosed the headline figures with some spin in the autumn. This may be down to the requirements of Championship FFP, under which they had to disclose them to the FL (privately) before Dec 31st. L1 FFP rules are different and deal with the current year, I think, although the reticence may be more to do with the scale of the losses.
  • This comment is interesting - "there are a number of people behind this who are doing it for all sorts of reasons".

Since the summer the pro-regime faction have hammered this point - that there are only a few key protesters, followed by sheep, and those key protesters have hidden agendas. That argument has appeared across social media and other places, and yet those making the claim can never clarify what the hidden agendas are or why they think so many people are stupid enough to follow without thinking.

We now know where the line of attack comes from. Question is, is it Roland telling Meire telling her cronies, or Meire telling Roland?

    Meire telling Roland

I saw that, then remembered the number of our own fans who do. Utterly dreadful state of affairs.

This weekend was my first Charlton-free one, completely. Not even a browse on here.

Indeed. I think the media should look into it.

    Whatever you say Sir.

    Baaaaaa

When selling the VOTV I believe Rick is often overheard chanting:

"Baa-ram-ewe, baa-ram-ewe. To your breed, your fleece, your clan be true. Sheep be true. Baa-ram-ewe."

I now understand what he was doing.

So everyone who thinks RD has screwed up royally and has presided over nothing but shambles disaster and ineptitude are all dumb, everyone at Charlton, everyone in the football world in general? I think not. Deluded man if ever there was one.

My retort to our lunatic owner's words of wisdom would be simply to highlight how well Charlton have done under his ownership. They have failed on every level piece of criteria you could invent to measure success. Most tellingly, on the pitch. I can put it in a pyramid and work backward for him if need be, but on any sane person's understanding, the first measure of success must be, the quality of the first XI and results. If he simply chooses to ignore this and drag other random bits of nonsensical criteria into play like dancing and the social element that goes into meeting mates on game days, then he fails at this as well. Match day experience is subjective, but I truly believe that if you canvas everyone of our supporters, not one will say they enjoy it anymore than they did 5, 10 or 50 years ago.

The guy in my opinion is a deluded twat. The only chink of green light in that interview is that he won't be in football forever.

Not just 'on the field' - I read an interesting thread about the Junior Reds/Mascot from, amongst others, @Fanny Fanackapan which made me really depressed, because you can see how the club used to involve kids (and, let's face it, future supporters) and now it's just a joke - I say that never having been involved or having kids, but it's a perfect example of how this club is so badly run. There was a guy on here on the post match thread (sorry, forget who) who took his kids to the Family stand and said they were really bored and just played wth their mobiles all through the match and he won't be coming again. Even the way way KR rubs his stubble and says 'yes, we've already had loads of meetings about the transfer window' and 'he's like a kid in a sweet shop' and all that crap... Everyone knows it's about maximizing profit from the ever few who come - the 14 chip brigade, the Kat tax: it's just profit and loss. But get away from the 'on-field' action, the post-match threads etc. and look at the smaller posts/threads on here, and you quickly realise just how terrible this club has become (that's not by any means a critiscism of you btw because I know you care more than most - just an observation for the 'Rolan can do no wrong' brigade.
  • According to Roland we should have dancing after a match.
So on Wednesday evening after the game, we should form a conga line with the Millwall supporters whatever the result of the match, and dance our way to the local taverns where we shall dance and drink the night away with our Millwall friends

    Something like this perhaps?:

Reticence due to scale of losses.

Yet another 'tick' in the fail category as determined by a criteria that some clubs may use to determine success.....

    Not our Roland

They really need to stop him talking about football. Every time he opens his mouth, the foot covered in duc tape follows straight away.

The only good thing that comes out of his media appearances are the fact that inevitably, something ludicrous follows that we can use to show the world what a twat he is.

He's up there with Prince Philip and Boris Johnson on absolute shocking media sound bites

As someone who has supported all the CARD protests so far, I must say I think CARD have left themselves open to this line of attack. I don't know who CARD are. I don't know what the protests are in advance, I just do what I'm told on the day!
