Genuinely think Crofts is underrated by many on here.
e.g. Instantly classed as shit after Saturday but he was the player who had the sense and realisation to get his body on the goal line and save the last minute attempt from MK Dons... His passing granted isnt the best but he's around to get in the faces of the opposition, stop them from being comfortable on the ball and so force them backwards. Its Ulvestad's job to do the passing!!
I know he's got a sense of legendary status, but all this his legs are gone business (yes he is older now and even slower) but people still write him off time and time again, for him to pop up and score or lead the team in another inspirational way. This is why I believe he is underrated.
Technically not the best no, but to come from non league the way he did, play a part in the League One winning season and take the Championship by storm the following year with all those assists. He wasn't the best but he worked harder than anyone, unfortunately people look past that too often. And for that, he was underrated.
Not the fittest, but a wand of a left foot who was wrongly asked to play out wide by Pardew. He had so much class and could control a game by himself if allowed to sit in the middle with some runners next to him. Our first season down in the Championship fell apart when we sold him to Sunderland.

All the obvious candidates have gone so I'm going for Shields (was it that goal against Forest?), Illic (think I saw his best game away at Stoke) and Salmon.

Can't understand the criticism/poor marks he gets every week

Matt Holland
Kevin Lisbie
Simon Francis ... amongst MANY others
I'll never forget the Asian Zidane
Steve "chalky" White
Stand out one's for me are Garry Nelson, wasn't he something like £15k? The only one who could properly read Leaburn. Great player in my view.
Stuart Balmer was another, alongside Simon Webster are until Costa arrived my two favourite centre half's.
They and many around them were the beginning of great times so maybe rose tinted specs.
Andy Peake was another,
i'll stop now or might be here a while.......
Jon Fortune
Matt Holland
Jonatan Johansson
Dale Stephens
Keith Jones
Kish
Big Carl Leaburn
