Do recall one of the scout masters getting a bit upset when one of the scouts suggested his missus was back home pleasuring herself with a banana in a condom.

the kid had to have one of the larger scout masters intervene to prevent a beating.

maybe we were lucky. Had people in charge who genuinely enjoyed teaching what they knew to the next generation.

God only knows why you would want to open yourself up to this sort of accusation these days.

    Couldn't agree more.
  • I see the guy at the centre of these allegations has been rushed to hospital after being found unconscious. I'd like to think this is because someone kicked the shit out of him but quite likely the scumbag has tried to commit suicide.

Charlton mentioned as the Club this would never had happened at, due to the fact that no coach was allowed to be alone with any of their charges. Part of our long standing policies.

If we felt the need to do that all those years ago, when it was happening elsewhere, doesn't that suggest that the risks were well understood and it wasn't exactly unthinkable..

Not knocking the club who took some very sensible precautions, but it does beg the question of why other clubs didn't do the same when the risk was clearly known about.

Really ? These were young lads, not 17/18 year old sixth form students having a bunk up with the drama teacher and it appears the abuse was part of a systematic process targeting vulnerable young children.

If a female teacher, already convicted, turned out to have sexually molested large numbers of children I think the public sentiment would be exactly the same.

Quite - I'm not going to read the whole thing but the first response to that thread (from @DA9 ) is

"Irellevant what she looks like, she's 24, he's 13, she's a paedophile in a position of trust, lock her up."

Ok, I'm wrong. There aren't tasteless comments on any of those 4 pages.. congratulations on repeating what the previous person said though
  • Any adult, male or female, who abuses vulnerable kids on an industrial scale needs to be locked up - they're sick and ruin numerous lives. The number of kids who have had to suffer in silence is terrible.
The FA could have acted much sooner but like most institutions was more concerned with its reputation.

There may be tasteless comments, but I would say the majority of people seem to agree on that point. Besides, I never really understand the purpose of "Oh if it was the other way round!" comments in any discussion. Seems a moot point to me.
  • If there's one good thing to come out of this it's that The FA and local FAs, authorities etc are already getting stricter.

I coach an U11 team and our club coaches already have to have full and up-to-date CRC checks and we have our own welfare officer. This week we've had a reminder that they'll be spot checks at training sessions, matches etc for every single coach or even parents helping out. In short, no one is allowed near any U18 team without one. Consequences include us being kicked out of the league or just our age group being asked to leave the club. As always, a shame it takes something like this to force action, but a silver lining at least.

He's an absolute moron for what he said, so it's good to see Sky have taken a no-nonsense approach.

Why the hell has a darts player got an MBE anyway?
