When it comes to Starbucks, like them or loath them, they’re a mainstay of the High Street and if a major town centre (as classified by the GLA) in London can’t sustain them then questions are raised.
This is the reason that I was surprised and disappointed to see Starbucks go. I just wouldn't expect them to struggle in any town centre.
Had to walk through a knife arch last night getting off the train. Did have a wry smile at one big lump trying to talk his way out of walking through it. Police were placed down the steps so anyone coming up and spotting it would have been stopped if they tried to go back down.

I walked through it B, but they weren’t enforcing it and people were just walking either side of it rather than queueing even more to get through the one arch.
My Grandparents came from Woolwich and I used to visit a lot during the 50s/60s and it hurts me to see what has happened to the town. I know one has to move with the times,I suppose

The covered market which was recently granted Grade II listed status – which affects plans for wider redevelopment of the site.
