Am a bit late in saying it, but that was a truly brilliant response from CARD. Well done to whoever wrote it. Hope the Belgian press will pick up on it, that would really show them up!
The superb statement from CARD was far to articulate to be written by fans of Charlton; because according to Duchatelet's thought on Standard fans from two years ago, as translated by Heather for the Charlton Trust news in September 2015.
"Many of the Guests who attend are unemployed and have nothing else to do all day. They spend all their time on internet forums. I can't compete with that".
So i can only conclude that the Card statement was written by the erudite Mel Baroni.
It's the same tactics they always use when the natives get restless
Sack Peeters, appoint Luzon, Trust organise meeting - they respond by quickly arranging VIP q&a, stuff it full of other people and get KM to be interviewed by a 15 year old
Protest in car park before S Wed after Carol appointed - they respond by organising another q&a. This time they promise a strategic committee will be set up, never occurred
Protests before Brighton - they respond by wanting to talk to the Trust, an organisation they had ignored for 2 years
It's all just a game to them, problem is their not very good at it

He really is a nasty piece of work - full of his own self-importance, arrogance, and a feeling of superiority.
To quote the old cliche - the bigger they are the harder they fall.
If Roland had indeed learnt from his mistakes, he would have removed KM from her post.
The list of her failures and incompetence is so long it really is quite amazing she is still here. It is quite unbelievable that he does not see that things will never move forward while she is still here. Only a slim chance of it working for him if he sacked her now, and it would have to be a stunning choice of candidate to replace her.
However, I think others are right, if she were to leave he would even less than 1.5% intrest in us.
I may have had more sympathy with the club had they not released a statement to the press about the invite hours after sending it and without a response from CARD. That one act shows this was a pure PR exercise on their front and has been treated with the contempt it deserved to be.
Great statement from CARD.
Bog off Roland.
Agreed. Notice how nothing was pre announced re Rat's Target 20k meeting. How stupid do they think we are?
Excellent right through until the end. We could have written all that, sent to the press, had all the upside we do now AND said we are still supporters of Charlton and thus agreed to meet. We would look even better in the media and public eyes. We would have garnered support from other supporters who disagree and we would have lost absolutely nothing.
I was with someone yesterday asking if they would be willing to pay £40m for the club that is really worth about £7m in my view. (Yes they have the money). This sort of letter doesn't help my argument that if they bought the club the fans would return.
Fully know how unpopular I am on this site but you need to hear sensible comment rather than victriole and smoke up arse.

You've missed a trick here.
Oh come on! The time for talk has well passed.

Nothing changes after these requests; we have had enough. It is time for NightMeire to go, and Roland will then have to follow. They picked the wrong club...
Did you read the part "we lose nothing"? Agreeing to meet puts us in a positive light. Refusing does not. Think about it.
We lose time; time that is running out for CAFC. We are at our lowest ebb in 90-odd years. Do you want to see Charlton in the Vanarama League? That is where this mis-managed group of incompetents is taking us! Meeting them now will not do anything. Why talk to the monkey; we need a meeting with the organ grinder. he can meet his T20k stooges, so why not CARD?

This was the position two years ago. That approach has been tried many, many times since to no effect. Whilst I agree in principle talking is never a bad thing where there's still hope but time's moved on with little sign of genuine progress off the pitch and zero on it.
Just catching up with CL so late to the party in adding my congratulations for a superb reply. It is both utterly uncompromising in its stance and exceptionally well worded. What's been said is calm, cool and collected - which is the only way to win a long running argument.
For the record I will re purchase my season ticket (previously held for 45 years) the day after these owners go. If any PR company reads this I believe I am not alone, if this regime really cares about the club they can sell up and see supporters return accompanied by a financial boost. I might add that I believe the Coventry protests are simply the start of this season's protest campaign which may well morph into more subtle and imaginative forms which will be costly to the club both financially and in the form of PR. Last season the club almost got away with suggesting the fans were the problem, for example the charm offensive on Mark Clemmit but football knows this regime is an utter disaster and no PR company will be able to change that stark reality.

@Cambridge maybe you should point out the section to the person with the money that says
"We stand ready to assist any incoming regime in any way we can, but we do not believe that meeting you at this stage would serve any constructive purpose for the well-being of the club."
Any new buyer would be able to access a well of good feeling and support for not being Roland. They would have to build on that and show, IMHO, some ambition, clear plan and goals and the ability to deliver on those while retaining essential elements of what Charlton are.
But this message just shows that they would be buying a club with an active and engaged supporter base willing to work with a owner FOR FREE to re-build the club.
If your contact is real and is still in doubt you could always put him or her in touch with CARD so they can make that point in more detail.
What would we have lost by agreeing to meet? I doubt everyone would leave the meeting as besties and KM would still be on tinder; but this all started as a demand for the owners to spell it out in black and white. This could have been that opportunity.
That ship sailed a long time ago, it is not a new opportunity but a PR exercise, we would have lost an awful lot by agreeing to meet.
I don't see that that there is a lot to loose. CARD would be the reasonable negotiators in a meeting offering KM advice on the best way to get her wee tuchie back to Belgium.
Meire and Duchatelet should not be trusted under any circumstances. They have proved themselves to be Deceiving Liars since Day One of their Takeover of Charlton and therefore CARD's response was spot on.
A wonderful statement written with thoughtful and sincere honesty. May I take this opportunity to thank those responsible from the very bottom of my aching heart.
just a thought ---if CAFC only represent 1.5% of Rolands Cult then Roland dear chap why not sell up ? blame the failure(i know you dont do that) on CARD--The British--defo the English---racism---sexism---and people who were to uneducated to understand your vision---in fact blame it on me !! anyway at 1.5% its feck all in your big picture and any money raised goes to your next forward looking egotistical brain storm---you can take Katy,Tony and the guy who aint got a comb with you----in fact i insist you take them with you ---Belgium needs em !!
@Cambridge, worth a read as it explains very well why meeting isn't an option for CARD. It might be something CASTrust consider picking up again at some point but suspect it needs to wait for a new CEO/Owner, whichever comes first.
I think people are reacting to you because you have a certain bedside manner. I'm sure it's not intentional but attention to the presentation might help you, not wishing to patronise you in any way.

Time for Operation Target Meire.

It's also an anagram of Tony Cahones.
Amazing.

Enormous tip of the hat to CARD.

Balls in your court now Cambridge.

Then, like me, come near kick off time we make our way home.
Was a good one though eh!

Tony looking forward to saying high mate
