  • If you're 21st in the league in the middle of March you are usually in trouble, but their only 3 points of twelve.

Hopefully, Powelly can keep them up and keep his job at the same time.
  • How tight is the bottom half of League One , Southend win yesterday and they would be top half , instead a loss and they are only out of relegation spots on goal dif .
SCP good luck whatever happens ❤️

Significant injury problems by the sound of it. Hope he gets them out of trouble, ideally at the expense of the tubby, scouse talking machine. Incidentally, doesn't Southend's chairman sound like everything ours isn't in that interview.

Will always wonder what might have been. I'm convinced that his League 1 title-winning squad could have achieved back-to-back promotions with moderate (rather than minimal) investment that summer.
  • Stuart McCall now been sacked by Scunthorpe United...

A year ago exactly Scunthorpe sacked Graham Alexander with them in 5th. Nick Daws and now McCall have since been and gone

  • Reading through the last few pages of this thread I think football manager must be one of the most unstable jobs in the world... especially in recent years! :joy:
  • Steve McClaren has been sacked at QPR, according to a mate who supports them.

Wouldn’t be a surprise - lost 11 of their last 14 games. Not quite sure why he keeps getting Jobs.

  • Strange season. Started poorly, then went on a superb run and were within touching distance of the play offs..........then collapsed.
  • Saw the other day that Michael Gove is a QPR fan.

Obviously enjoys watching disastrous results and weak leadership in his time away from parliament too.
  • Agree I've no idea why Steve McClaren gets employed so much.  He's failed badly at about 7 jobs in a row now.

    Confirmed.
Queens Park Rangers have sacked manager Steve McClaren following a run of one win in 15 Championship games.

  • Also his hair island is ridiculous.

  • He's in the same category of manager as Pardew, Hughes and a few others, always seem to get the sack with a nice pay off then given another chance somewhere else, wouldn't be surprised if Tim Sherwood get's the job, one of Les Ferdinands mates.
  • Interesting timing. Are they hoping for a new manager bounce for the last few games to ensure safety, or wanting next season's manager time to evaluate the team for a few games now?

Lost to Bolton at the weekend..........a team that is in such turmoil the EFL have to sanction a takeover by an owner already barred by them just so they players can get paid.
  • I'd love to know just what the QPR owner expected from them this season, given their FFP fine and the fact that McClaren wasn't given any transfer money.

Surely can't have expected them to be that much higher than where they are by spending absolutely nothing in a league where some clubs are buying players for 7-8m+

  • to think he was lined up to be Fergie's successor many moons ago..
  • Steve McClaren has another sacking on his CV.
It never rains but it ...
  • To be fair to him, he’s a fantastic coach but a God awful manager. Some people just aren’t meant for that managerial role and are suited much better to just being first team coach, behind the main man.
  • Southend have appointed Kevin Bond as their new Manager!!

Somehow just think that they stood a LOT more chance of survival under Powell than him

Uninspiring choice, I can't imagine the Southend fans being very happy
  • Remarkable really when you consider that Paul Hurst is available and how he took Shrewsbury to safety in his first season with them - Nor can I imagine him being overly expensive as imagine both Shrewsbury and Ipswich will have gotten him on the cheap

I had assumed that Hurst was already lined up. He might even still have a house in Ipswich!
  • Tim Sherwood being heavily linked with QPR
