Fair enough, you have expanded your reasoning and I understand it better now. I used "inevitable" because you said when not if.
I still feel that boycotting denies the regime large sums of money and in my opinion the bigger his losses the sooner he goes.
Ultimately we all want the same thing, but selling some of our more valuable players would see the money he has lost through ST sales go straight back to him. We got near enough 1 million for Pope, so that would be a nice buffer for a start. I hope Im wrong and the boycotts work, I also feel that we should protest inside the ground, I really dont care what needs to be done, within decency, like you Mametz, I just want buy club back
Cheers
There is still all season for in-ground protests, away game protests, other protests, etc etc.
Made sense to me to not disrupt games in August. Doing so would had lead to accusations of not giving Slade and the new players a chance.
Also plenty of people away on holiday's during August while CARD can't do the same thing every week.
This way CARD has its options open from September.
I once attended a very interesting motivational course (business related). Throughout the course they constantly reinforced the message that you should not think of events being "win or lose" - you should focus on "win or learn". Maybe uncle Roland has been on the same course...but probably not.
RD is losing money on us and his investment is currently worthless. Sure, the 'gathering' (not really enough to call it a crowd), may not be barracking and protesting but if having no protests is his definition of winning then there are a million other things he would/could have done with his money.
That just shows that far from winning he is failing. Again.
We've been relegated, he is haemorrhaging money, his mad scheme has failed and his public reputation in the UK is in tatters.
A few desperate apologists want to pretend that one league win over Shrewsbury, yes the mighty Shrewsbury, in division three means that all is well and we were wrong to protest.
They can carry on pretending but even if we get into the top six (As I said pre-season we would) this season is still a year in lower division than when he bought us, with huge debt, a declining supporter and sponsor base and a quarter built training ground where work has stopped.

There is no way Roland is winning. This is the start of my third season not going, I stopped because I hated the way this man was running our club, but I think last season was the start of the fans fight back, I think CARD have been brilliant but it is a long fight and patience is needed. I am pleased with last nights result and I think its great we had a good win, and what is wrong with cheering the team when they have played well it does not mean your are happy with the regime. I think if Charlton did manage to get promoted this season we would be more attractive to investors, and hopefully Roland would sell up
Interesting comment in the OP about the Valley crowd this season. I have been very surprised at how positive and loud the crowd have been in these first two home games, considering the toxicity at the end of last season.
I would guess some of that comes from it being a new season with new manager and players. However, I wonder if there is an argument that the large numbers of boycotting fans has filtered out those most unhappy and vocally critical, ironically improving the atmosphere a little despite the drop in numbers. This is not to say I disagree with the boycotts - just an interesting quirk of the dwindling attendances that the more mild-mannered, less pissed-off fans may now be proportionally higher.

Could be completely wrong.
I think the mistake you make is the suggestion that those who have protested don't love the team. IMO they love the team more than those that haven't. Of course when appropriate they will vocally support the side.

Unfortunately I don't think that apart from Charlton supporters that anyone really gives a toss who owns Charlton other than a few platitudes and heads shaken by other fans occasionally. I know don't spend very much time worrying about the owners of Leeds, Cardiff or Blackpool other than fleeting moment of sympathy.
In Belgium there is perhaps more scope to embarrass him but I'm sure he is already viewed by anyone who cares to be an eccentric oddball. Again I doubt the Belgian population are too worried about Duchatelets antics at a third teir overseas football club.
This is the problem CARD has. Apart from us nobody really cares too much. Should there be some success on the pitch this season I'm sure a lot of the support will fall into Roland's line.
It's sad but true. I think we are stuffed. Just my view of course.
The following is an extract of what I posted on the post-match thread but it crosses over into this too:
"Strange feeling for me though - looking around everyone looked so normal and oblivious to the on-going issue with the owners. When I say normal I mean you would never have guessed in a million years what is happening to the club they are watching and that's what dawned on me most - a big percentage of those who continue to go, don't, I think, see any problem with what is occurring at the club and that if the team do well, I honestly can't see them thinking about protesting, let alone actually doing it.
It's like the support is cut in half and I can see problems in the future if (and when) us boycotters return for the purpose of a protest - I can't see it being well received by those who seem blinkered to what is happening to their club, or just don't care about anything outside the game to game.
It made me feel that it will be a continuing, long, and ultimately losing battle and that depressed me as I personally don't feel I can support the club how I used to until the owners have gone.
So sad it's come to this when good performances and enjoyable (on the face of it) days and evenings like last night are either not witnessed by some or don't feel how they should feel.
I only hope the support at Walsall will both get behind the team but also express an anti ownership vibe too"
Roland will always be winning in his head because he adheres totally to that ridiculous business related cliche 'I don't do failure'.
Meire, ever the willing sycophant, tries to adopt the same thought process but then gets into all sorts of difficulties when its pointed out that she is failing and tries to find the positive even in a hopeless situation (e.g. the PC where she said that every managerial appointment was the right decision because it had proved to be successful).
During the season when we survived in the Championship Meire is on record as saying that relegation would be a disaster. Now that its happened we are hearing things like 'new begining', new era etc. although this perhaps owes less to Meire herself and more to the PR company being paid enormous sums to put generic sound-bites into her mouth.

I'm not making any suggestion about how anyone feels really. Just saying that if you take away large numbers of people that tend to be quite vocal in their criticism of the regime, maybe that leaves a generally more mild-mannered, happy-clappy group.
Just seen this opinion on Twitter, the fact that there aren't any protests inside the stadium means that people are enjoying their football at The Valley.
This is clearly some new definition of the word "enjoy" that I haven't previously come across.

Nice gesture Stig but scant consolation for Henners, he really does crave another promote .

Probably helps that we're not losing 3-0 every week

Still no promote though
Wasn't it Mark Twain that said if you get more likes on a forum post than your age, people are just being nice to you?
I don't think Duchatalet is winning because he probably doesn't give a toss either way. As long as Mire is having fun he won't sell.
And is Mire winning? Possibly? And why? I think because the support is split between the the boycotters, those that go but are still anti but believe the support the team not the regime mantra, those that don't think things are too bad and the lowest of the low those that work for Mire and even put out her propaganda.
At the beginning of a new season, at the start of a new managerialship, everyone is holding their breath, waiting to see if the team on the pitch can be successful. Most of us know that this honeymoon period is not likely to last long. CARD called it right to delay until September. The protests will continue once reality sets in, even on those that 'just want to watch football'.
Relegated to League One. Fire sale of £5m of most saleable playing assets. Season Tickets down 45% to under 6000 and most of them at £175. A thin squad which will be exposed again and we will rely on youth to help Roland prepare for the Summer sales and it starts again. Him and his Puppet Meire nationally ridiculed. If this is winning....
