Whatever may have happened in recent years under this regime,we cannot forget his tireless work throughout those dark times at Selhurst and Upton Park, the wonderful days in the Premiership and his selflessness in keeping this club afloat on his own diminishing resources. No one is perfect but RM did more for our club than most during its history. Best wishes to him for a full and speedy recovery and our thoughts will be with him and his family.
I bet seeing the mess this club is descending into has not helped health wise so best he steps away. Get well soon Richard hope you are back as a supporter soon. Sounds like RD will back to greet you in person from his soundbite.
Nobody wishes him ill health. I wonder how much of it was the pressure dealing with all of last season? Richard was a Charlton Legend. But unfortunately he threw away his legacy forever by tying himself to the Belgians, against his own fans. Best wishes for a full recovery.
Terrible news - wish him a speedy and full recovery. I'm sure that, despite all the issues with the owners, etc. that he probably thinks he is doing the right thing for the club in the long run but inside he must be distraught at the destruction of the club he has been a part of for so long. Come back as a fan soon.
Like others have said far more eloquently than I can, what has happened in the last three seasons should not overshadow the previous 25 years. I wish Richard a very speedy and full recovery from this very odious illness.
Despite what people think about him now RM is Charlton at heart and the recent protests and undoubted stress of working for the regime would have been detrimental to his recovery.
I hope he receives the treatment he needs and is left alone now to spend time with his family.
Get well soon, Richard. You've been a major player in the happiest times of my Charlton-supporting life, and I hope it won't be long until we see both you and the good times back at The Valley.

Some things are more important than football.
It's sad to see where the club is now.
But health is far more important. Get well soon , Richard.
