Since Slade said we should be wrapping up deals in the pipeline over 48 hours ago (with a bit of a sad dejected look on his face) , nothing's been done. Unsurprisingly.
Well since he 1st moaned to the SLP post Orient, over a weak ago about lack of squad depth, and still nothing's been done, no ones been signed since. Everytime he gets asked, he's just going to say the same thing, which is that the new recruits are just days away from being signed up....which is quite sadly, not a real thing or true.
We don't have a goalkeeper. Well we do. 21 year old Dillon Phillips. He's got a long season ahead that young man.
If there is a new goalkeeper before the season starts...it's not exactly ideal bringing a critical player to fill a critical position at the last minute prior to a competitive game. It's only normal to be able to get settled in for at least a few hours!
So we brought in 3 decent players for this league...so we do have the ability to recruit....if we wanted to, if and when it suits Roland Duchatelet.
Maybe because the squad is so thin...that the sale of the club is infact taking place? Why buy a player if your no longer going to own the club in the next month, not your problem type thing.
Don't count on it.
Back to the thread title.
The general assumption and confusion is that he's not in this for the right reasons or for normal footballing reasons. Some things don't make sense. Or he's just a complete idiot, although most complete idiots are not half billionaires...money they earned.
He might well be loving every second of owning Charlton and hes literally on the edge of his seat watching the games from his live stream. He really desperately wants to go to the valley but just can't find the time...etc.
Obviously we know that scenario is somewhat unlikely.
For most people if they owned something, they would be proud of it, especially in the world of sport... They would want to see the live action. No point in owning something like that if you are not going to have the reward of actually seeing the best thing about it, and what's going on.
It's like he knew, as soon as he in particular ran the place that the football wouldn't even be worth watching....so he didn't want to risk being there or showing his face.
Going Charlton should be high on his do to list. Sure, he has other football clubs and other businesses but an English championship club has the potential above anything and everything else.
The English league(s) is the most entertaining, passionate, exciting and un-predictable in the world. Even though he has and never will have an emotional connection to Charlton....as a rich businessman, our club should still be his bread and butter....he's an old man, it should rock his world. It should be good just because it is fun.
His life should be made uncomfortable. He doesn't need us...and we don't want him and a lot of sources have told us in recent months that other people would be willing to buy the club.
He's not going to quit this...whatever "this is", he's going to see it out and just be a complete knob about it. Fine, your within your law abiding right to do that, Roland.
So in accepting this fate that he ain't f*cking off anytime soon.
How can we just make his life miserable.
While abiding by the law....what's the best, most hurtful way of just making the old git mad? How can we wind him up on a daily basis? How can he feel in a constant state of embarrassment? How can we make him sad?
What can be done to really "get to him" on a personal level?
Belgium appears to be the key. Maybe that unsuccessful political party vivent
Or whatever it was, is a weak point for RD because it completely failed.
A lot of things have been done already. The protests, the Belgium 20, actions of CARD.
The motives are different though. This is like a football fanbase that now feels they have nothing to lose so we should unite in taking out the footballing misery on the idiot, Roland Duchatelet.

I'll start,
I saw him kissing Elton J on the Brussels....
Beatles song 'Love is all you need.'
Roland Duchatelet is a very complex character. We know that he sees himself as a latter day Alan Turing battling against the establishment with his ideas and (in the case of Alan Turing -being proved right in this approach). RD has been enormously successful in one area and he believes this is a transferable skill and that he can apply his innovative approaches to other areas - most notably Politics and Football.
In both Politics and Football he challenges the accepted order, surrounds himself with a small group of people who will follow him because it is in their best interests to do so (i.e, close family members and their partners and errr.. Katrien Meire) and imbues in them the belief that they are on a crusade in a battle from which there can be no turning back and that, in the long term, victory is assured (remember he doesn't do failure!).
For 18 years RD has pursued his Political dream in Belgium (as the founder and leader of VIVANT) with only very limited success and with one of the main policies being an innovative but unworkable national tax policy as I understand it.
He has been the guardian (I will not accept owner even if that is the reality) of Charlton for only 2.5 years.
Yes, Belgium is the answer but the only thing legal thing that I believe will hurt RD is ridicule in the press in his own country and for that we will need to up the game with someone sympathetic in a Belgian newspaper. This would take a lot of work to identify the right person with the clout and willingness to take it on. Its worth a shot. I cannot think of anything else.
The only way to get his full attention.
I volunteer to administer it
Job done.
Hide his gaffer tape?
SL is still owed him millions of euros and he still technically owns part of them.
He is really like a virus.
Charlton fans are not this way inclined (and that's good) we shouldn't have to go to those lengths. But that's probably what it will take.
Or wait till he gets bored.
Also been told he doesn't care what the British think both the fans and the media.
But is reputation in Belgium is very important for business.
make him watch every charlton game for the last year on loop
By the way, he reads this site, that I do know!
We're coming for you Roland. This is a war you will not win.
