  • If you google "8 dart finish" there are a couple of brilliant wind ups on the Boro and Sunderland boards on achieving this sporting milestone. Apols dunno how to do links on here.

With snooker though, there is a far larger margin for error on where your cue ball lands, choice of balls to play for, time to consider your shot etc.

With snooker you have to get it right on 36 occasions. On 14 of those occasions you have a choice of balls (if their position on the table makes it possible) that's at least 22 occasions you have no choice at all. Ergo, snooker players have to take more turns where they have no choice than dart players do. Add to that the fact that it's quite possible to get snookered and render the task impossible. With darts you can make it difficult for yourself with poor positioning, but you can't snooker yourself, somehow or another there's always a gap.
  • I think there have been darts matches with two nine darters, that has never happened in snooker. The nine darter has become more common in the last few years because there has been more money in darts. I reckon that Phil Taylor would probably get at least one in practice every day, that is not the same in snooker. Also some 147s are much harder than others, if you have to split the pack or pot a ball down the rail, whereas a nine darter is always the same challenge.
  • Yeah the random nature of the balls on the break alone make it virtually impossible to even start a 147. There's nothing stopping a darts player doing every time other than himself and his beer.
