147 break or 9 dart finish.

which is the greater achievement, a 147 break at snooker or a nine dart finish at the arrows? Not that I've got anywhere near either.

  • The break, lot more shots to go wrong compared to throws
  • 147 anyday.

It's just about conceivable that you could fluke a 9 darter - just.

    147? Forget it.

    This
  • Yes 147 for sure.
  • 147 all day long. Darts is a better game/sport though.
  • Would it ever be possible for one person to achieve both?
  • 147 although the 9 darter live on tv is a special thing

As has already been said. Not got anywhere near either
  • A right and left on the glorious 12th

Or a nice 18 pointer stag

    Probably the stag meself
  • No contest.

  • Where does carrying your bat rank?

Or getting a 10fer in an innings?
  • Or a perfect game in baseball?
  • If all your team mates get out cheaply then carrying your bat may not be that difficult.
  • Would it ever be possible for one person to achieve both?

    Andrea Leadsom already has.
  • Would it ever be possible for one person to achieve both?

I'm sure they have said on commentary before that Gary Anderson has hit both.

Should do a Charlton life darts comp.

Harder to compare as you are also relying somewhat on what the opposition batsmen/bowlers perform like. Darts and snooker, it mainly comes down to just your skill as once you are at the oche/table you're on your own.
  • Couldn't be more clear-cut. 147.

It would be easier to compare if I knew what the fuck either of those meant!

I've done both, found the 147 slightly more satisfying.

  • Where does carrying your bat rank?

Or getting a 10fer in an innings?

Or a 59 in golf? - or a 63 in the last round under immense pressure to win the Open?

(not a hole in one - many high handicappers have got those)
  • 9 dart finish is far rarer than a 147

    I've managed a 147-dart finish

Treble 19, Treble 18, Double 18. Good darts - but think a 147 snooker finish is harder. Been playing both for a long time - but my highest snooker break is about 25...

It used to be but not any more.

I used to be a good snooker player and I have made hundred breaks but never been anywhere near a 147. I am not very good at darts but have had two 180s in a row in practice and have done a 141 finish ( or similar). So from my own experience I would say a 147 is definitely harder.

    Yes, it is.

Ye, stick a broom up his arse an he'll sweep the floor an all
  • I think it depends. If it's a case of someone doing it at home on their own then it's the 147. Think it's different once you add a stage and crowd to it. Snooker players seem able to stay calmer than dart players, probably why a hell of a lot more 147s have been achieved than 9 daters.
