I was coming to Valley from about 64 onwards. But, only really started to take keen interest in the match and team around 67. He like others have said was a legend of his day. God Bless you Harry.
A real character and on his day a fine player in that great team of '68-'69 the memories of which are as fresh as if it all happened yesterday. Remember a break in play once and 'arry grabbed the ball and sat on it. And as someone else said, think I recall his name was actually Gordon and for a few weeks he decided to re-brand himself thus. No big screens then - you bought the programme to find out who was playing, then marked up the team changes as they were announced - and there it was, spelled out in black and white - "Gordon Gregory". Happy days.
So sad to hear this news. Harry was one of the Charlton 'legends' hosting in the hospitality suites. We got to know him quite well when he was a host in the Keith Peacock Suite.
He was a real gentleman and always immaculately turned out. We really missed him during the latter part of the season when he became too ill to continue working.
We last saw him when he and all his family had a meal in the Keith Peacock Suite. He will be very greatly missed and was a wonderful ambassador for the club.
Rest in peace Harry and sincere condolences to his family.
Precisely what Christine said.
A lovely genuine thoughtful man, who will be much missed.
As already mentioned on here, one of the stalwarts of that 68/69 team. One of my memories of was of him punching a cross into the goal and looking surprised and delighted when the ref gave a goal.
RIP Harry.
great memory think it was against Rotherham .....and the look was something I will never forget ..great Guy RIP
What a character loved him. He was the first player I saw sent off. We beat Bury 4-0 that day but that did not stop him kicking one of their defenders. Did not get away with that one Harry! Never a dull moment with him around. R.I.P Harry.
I have quite clear memories of the 68/69 season finale. Preston at home and we had to win by a lot and palarse lose by a lot for us to get promoted above them.
We had two penalties that day - Harry missed the first one and didn't take the second one. Bobby Curtis stepped up for the second and also missed!! We lost 1-0 - not that it mattered as the stripey c***s won anyway!
That memory from the front of the East Terrace by the covered end is amazingly vivid after all these years.

This one @pettgra- only the second game my old dad ever took me to. Remember the Bury goalie, the wonderfully named Neil Ramsbottom, had to go off injured to be replaced by an outfield player, allowing Ron Saunders to bag a hat-trick.

Ah a Saunders "is the king" hattrick. Thats another great memory.

One of my heroes in that great team from 68-69. Go to met him regularly over the last couple of years in Crossbars and one or two events - usually with Theo by his side! Loved talking about the club and showing his collection of team photos on his mobile, a smashing bloke and PROPER CHARLTON! R.I.P 'H'

Our 'Arry was one cultured player.
Good player on his day.
We could do with a few like Harry in the team at the moment
RIP Harry

It was a massive disappointment not to go up with 68/69 team.
We played Crystal Palace that season at the Valley, they kicked us off the park that day.
They went up to the 1st divison, we languished in the 2nd Division for years and years.
From that day I hate Crystal Palace ever since, and I still do.
Harry Gregory was then sold.
The first of many disappointments.
Agreed, what a team.
