Wouldn't be surprised if it was Tony The Testicle's idea as he hates us fans. He will now probably try to find out who started this thread, film them, and then try to ban them.
Putting into practice any petty ruse of this type (even if practicable, which I doubt) would demonstrate the self-righteous small-minded, blame-shifting approach of this regime and expose the credibility of today's message that they are trying to turn over a new leaf and get people on board with a shiny new collaborative approach.
It sounds like something that someone who doesn't know a lot about football would suggest to either a) boost season tickets, or b) punish the boycotters

He won't need to. I don't plan on going to any games until him and bosses have gone.
Can't believe this will happen. Other clubs would lose revenue and wouldn't allow it. When CAFC made such a complete balls up of selling tickets for the Colchester cup game I emailed their CEO. The very next day they were selling tickets direct to Charlton fans. For some-one like Northampton who are close to bankruptcy a minimum of £10,000 could be lost through this policy. I can't see the Football League would uphold such a policy either. There is no, or very little history, of Charlton fans causing problems at away grounds.
I cant see this happening as away tickets arent really ours, they belong to the other club and we are selling them on their behalf. The other club want to sell as many as possible, to make as much money as possible, so they wouldnt be too happy with any attempts by us to restrict this.
If the away team is not worried about safety issues - they will just put them on general sale from their own box office. You can nearly always pay cash on the day at Sheff U, but probably not at AFC Dons or obviously Spanners.

Not really, I'm sure we can restrict the tickets as much as we like when we're selling them but I doubt we have much control who the home team sells them to on the day and in League One most teams will see us as a decent pay day and won't restrict sales in any way (with the exception of Millwall and possibly Gillingham).
I have just been speaking to someone who does some casual work down at The Valley now and then, and he tells me that only season ticket holders will be allowed to buy tickets for away games next season.
He wasn't sure of the reason (whether it was a drive to sell more season tickets or whether they were worried about games being abandoned and they would want to identify any culprits)?
I argued that that just wasn't possible due to teams like Sheffield United (where you can get an allocation of up to 5,000) being able to sell for cash on the day, but he was adamant they were bringing this rule in for the next campaign.
The thing that surprised me most about this was that he reckons this wasn't Meire's idea, it was limp wristed Tony's brainchild.
I'm yet to be convinced as I just can't see it being possible, but nothing would surprise me with how low they would stoop.
Almost certainly wrong on the info you have been given.
Either way it makes no difference as you'll be able to purchase on the day.

Yup agreed. They can't enforce it so won't happen.
Wouldn't be surprised if it had been a ploy to entice more season ticket holders but impractical therefore irrelevant.
Can't see this happening as there are a lot of us 'expats' who rarely, if ever get to the Valley but do a lot of away games .. however, if the earnings from away sales are small, Meire & Co might consider the scheme .. as has been said, if they want to prevent trouble or to track down protesters, ST holders would be easier to control .. anyway, IF I am banned from buying tickets, Travelodge, nationwide fast food outlets, Tesco Petrol and the various rail companies will lose a lot of business .. feck it, I'll buy a season ticket at Grimsby or Scunthorpe and watch some decent football ((:>)

Certainly hope so Elfsborg as I am/was only going to away games next season.

I'm sure plenty of clubs will be selling away tickets on the day. Limiting to just season ticket holders will mean plenty of empty away ends. Home clubs won't want to be denied that extra revenue...
Total non story. Does anyone believe that say Rochdale with their 4000 away stand will only allow in the 300 season tickets holders who purchased tickets, get real. They will open up turnstiles as normal and in the non season tickets holders go.
I believe people who work at The Valley would do this, but like a lot of their decisions they never make sense or are workable
Couldnt police just order the Home team to ensure that tickets are only sold to their own Season Ticket holders or fans who have their own version of our RedCard?
They could try but I suspect the home club wouldn't be happy with the loss of revenue.
When is the next SAG meeting and can you raise this.
Clear safety issues for the police.
Not a matter for the SAG, as its jurisdiction is The Valley, but we could kill this policy at birth - and would.
I know but Cahones will be there as will the local police. They will be able to point out how unworkably stupid the idea is and @addickted can make his/our views known
It sounds to me like the sort of story these idiots would like to put about in the hope of frightening a few into buying STs - though forgive me Brendan, at the moment all the info is at a friend of a friend level, so I'm taking it with a pinch.
Can't see how they'd be allowed to interfere with another business' income stream though. I think the League, if not the law of the land, would have something to say about that.

You are forgiven Stig!
Like you say, it may be something Cahones has spouted off about to either drum up s/t sales or try and show everyone how important he is.
If he has the intelligence to look into it he'll realise it's unworkable and won't attempt to see it through.
