Club flogging stuff on ebay

It may be me, but I find it weird that the club is putting things on ebay to sell for, and I quote: for much-needed equipment for Charlton's media team ahead of the 2016/17 season

  • Lol, you could not make this up. laughing stock of the football league.
  • Matt Wright used to frequently put signed photos and kit on ebay, but it didn't have quite the car boot sale feel to it of this.

    Never beg.
  • WTF. Shame we destroyed the sofa, that would have raised a tenner, buyer collects of course. Joke of a Club.

  • Probably worth mentioning that this is nothing new. The club has done this pretty much every summer for a number of years.
  • Did someone hit the back of the net and break the old GoPro camera? I would suggest fixing them halfway up the post as a better angle than on the floor.

It's mostly a number of items that have been lying around the office for a few years.
We've always turned our hand to eBay to buy, for example, a GoPro camera, of which we are in need of a new one!
Just a simple way for us to sort ourselves out without getting things signed off and cutting into budgets etc...

If they were just lying around the office would it not be wise to auction them off for a charitable cause?
I'm sure our owners pockets can afford a couple of cameras?
We auctioned off a huge amount of items last year for charity, in support of members of staff who were running the London Marathon.
There has always been a box in the office with items like this which we dig into when we need the odd bit of equipment.
This has been the case going back to, I believe, 2011 at least.

    Just one word.

    Upbeats.

A fantastic cause for which we have done plenty for to help raise money. Hopefully we can do further auctions for charitable causes as we have done in the past.
  • Wow people are reading into every little thing. Save it for the stuff that matters maybe guys? This and relaying the pitch. God bless the close season.
  • A few weeks ago West Ham flogged a load of stuff from Upton Park with proceeds going towards their academy. Thought that was pretty low, especially in light of how little they've paid towards their new ground. Can't see how this is much different.

Regardless, from what I can see from the eBay history, it used to be pretty good stuff, including a Bale signed Wales shirt. Now we're selling a sweat band of a player who left two years ago and the signature has rubbed off. It's a parable of our decline.

But if I do bid, will katrien read the feedback?

  • An "upyoursroland" account with a £100k bid should throw a spanner in the works.

  • I wish someone would put Pinocchio on Ebay.

    0.01p start.
  • Salim Kerkar's match worn shorts - as new.
  • Used sweatbands? How long before they start auctioning off soiled jock straps. Pathetic.
  • Surely a quality, expensive, well regarded action camera isn't in keeping with the club owners current ethos? Why not just acquire a cheaper alternative that on the surface does the same job but doesn't result in the same competence or success. It'll fit in perfectly at the club then and you can use the saved pennies for the next item you need to scrimp for.
