Tony, with respect, do you really "know your football?" It's not as if Charlton have just been formed! And there is this great thing called the internet if you want to research the Addicks (that's our nickname by the way).
I apologise if you are genuine but your post just stinks the place out. How can you just summon up passion for something you know nothing about?!
@HandG have you been taking lessons from The Liar on how to treat customers?
These last two years have changed me! I've gone from being a laid back guy who would give anyone the time of day to someone who trusts nobody particularly new posters on Charlton Life. I fully expect Tony to get us all onside in the next few weeks and then, when we're suitably softened, he'll start blabbing out pro Roland and Katrien messages.
As I said already, I'll happily apologise and buy him and his family a drink* if he's a genuine fellow looking to bring himself and the family down to the happy Valley for the next 20 years. But, reading that last sentence back, can you blame me for having doubts?!
* This is a genuine offer so please private message me a few games into next season @tonyb1974 .
I'm not pro anyone!!!
I'm a football fan wanting to support my new local team. Over time my passion and love for Charlton will grow ..... but at the moment all I want is to watch football and enjoy my saturday afternoons. Who owns the club and how its run is not my initial concern, over time that will change, but at this point I dont have an opinion on the owners!!
When can I cash in that drink offer????
At present, I have no plans to return to the Valley to watch football so we will need to work around a protest! Message me 10 or so games into the season and we can arrange meeting up.
And, if you are genuine, stick around on this message board-we can be a bit negative sometimes (as you may have noticed!) but it is a better source of proper information about the club.
It is the phrase 'who owns the club and how it is run is not my initial concern, over time that will change, but at this point I don't have an opinion on the owners' that worries me. By all means go and watch Charlton next season. However please do research elsewhere and you will find plenty that should concern you about the running of this club. Charlton Lifers of course are biased. However, it is breaking our hearts not to renew our season tickets (many have been holders 25++years) and will not be going to home games until the club has new owners as the present regime is morally bankrupt. So I would say buy tickets on Match Day (availability won't be a problem) research a bit more and if you still see no reason not to buy a season ticket do so. Getting a seat will not be a problem.
@tonyb1974 You've come at a particularly difficult time, but don't let them scare you away. I'm someone who is relatively new to supporting Charlton. Something I've never admitted on here is that I grew up supporting another team (not a glory hunting one), but after spending a lot of time at The Valley and living in SE7, my allegiance has shifted to Charlton in the last 6-7 years.
The club is incredibly fan friendly and many are welcoming to outsiders. I have many mates who love(d) their away days at The Valley, and think incredibly highly of the Charlton supporters and the area. I'm an American who grew up on proper football if not entirely on Charlton, but I've always felt incredibly welcome. My first game was in 2009, saw Luke Varney score twice against Palace (that would be Luke Varney who briefly looked like a world beater for Blackpool in the Prem).
The club does excellent work in the community through the Community Trust, the Upbeats, and we are the first club to recognize an LGTBQ supporters group, "The Proud Valiants." Recently, we had Richard, aka PragueAddick, fighting for full disclosure of the terms West Ham have agreed to at the Olympic Stadium.
The above are just personal and present day examples of some of the wonderful things about the club, many more can speak to the history of the Valley party, Clive Mendonca, Curbs, and much more. In fact, the list is quite short as I need to get back to work. But no owner can take these things away from us.
I did the same when I moved to London in 2001 and although frustrating I have had highs and lows so basically a typical football club. This last year has been particularly difficult and although I want Roland out and am bitterly disappointed we were relegated I don't subscribe to the card tactics. The club I joined was a family club with a nice atmosphere. That has gone recently to an extent that I purposefully missed the last 2 matches. I am hopeful of change next year
On a positive note we are in L1 we won L1 last time and it was a very exciting year so fingers crossed. Welcome to the family
So Tony, this is pretty much an average week at Charlton these days. Conciliatory message saying they've made mistakes but will learn from them, then make the same mistakes creating a shambolic and embarrassing situation, followed by the CEO blaming everyone but herself thinking that no-one can hear her even when she does it in public...
Oh, and the players won't turn up tomorrow... ;-)
Welcome to the most unique club you'll ever spend time with. And by unique I mean both unique and weird. It's brilliant.

You must have either missed or forgotten the other years we were in League One. It wasn't exciting, it was frustrating.

Have a look on the West Ham forum - he's loving life.
So heres what supporting CAFC has been like in the last 10-ish years:
- 3 relegations (2007, 2009, 2016) - 1 promotion (2012 from L1, 2 levels below where we began 10 years ago) - play-off heartbreak 2 years before (lost on pens, in the semis, at home!) - Currently being run into the ground by incompetent CEO and an absentee owner - Terrible derby record in recent years, failed to beat the spanners in the last 8 attempts, and the nigels did the double over us in 12/13, and lets not mention the cup game against them last season - lost games 0-5 and 0-6 back to back last season, and over a dozen defeats by 3 goals or more. - seeing two teams promoted on our own ground 2 years in a row - awful record of ex-players scoring against us, regardless of the players form (Parker, Kermo etc...) - THAT corner against Derby away - using sex to sell the pitch - having a game abandoned at home in August (!) due to the pitch - more last minute goals conceded at home over the last 3 years then any other time I could remember - more managers sacked/hired in the last 5 years then at any point in the previous 20. - attendances are a fraction of what they were - home defeats....lots of them
Why not just support the other 23 teams in leauge one for two weeks each during the season. Then come along to the Valley to watch your team every other week .
That way you always stroll out happy at 5 o'clock each Saturday , after watching your team win.
@tonyb1974 not seen since 11th May. Have we scared him off, should we send out a search party or is he busy picketing Katrien's office?
Hi Stig ....... not been scared off ..... just been a little busy with work, family, buying & selling a home, oh and the Euros!!
Definately not been put off ..... in fact I purchased our season tickets on Friday morning .... getting more and more excited as the new season approaches.
Am pleased with the appointment of Slade and Novak is fairly decent so things are promising. Now if only they can get Ajose across the line ..... then that will be a great signing IMO.
I want to be positive about CAFC ..... looking forward with a smile on my face ...... come the end of the season that may change .... but it will be through the football on the pitch only.
Urgh, great, this is exactly the sort of thing Katrien and Roland want. Replace the real/old fans with people who don't give a crap about what's going on at the club and just want to watch a bit of football. Nothing against you personally Tony, but with enough people like you, their plan will work and the Charlton that we knew and loved will be gone forever.
Bet the bods that the club make trounce through the forums are loving this. More artificial fans filling the revenue lost from real fans. As said above nothing against you personally but you're what's going to keep Roland from selling.

actually thats CL in a nutshell....
Lived in Westbourne for a few years myself. Popped along to see Fletch and the Cherries in L1 a few times. Gradel, Anderton and Vokes all played.
Your a nutcase to want to follow us though. Our club being a mess is a understatement
