Tiny- You might also want to check out availability of 'wellbeing councelling' services in your new area first.

Your reference to enjoying the beautiful game concerns me somewhat. Can't say I've noticed any of that at Charlton for a while but you are guaranteed a unique, meaning 'weird', match day experience.

Ignore all the cynics. Charlton, I believe, is the greatest club to watch in London. You're guaranteed goals, a great atmosphere and watching people throw inflatables on the pitch is hilarious.

Just make sure you get a season ticket in the away end otherwise you'll be disappointed.

If you are genuine, don't buy a season ticket, there will be plenty of seats available and you can't try before you commit to the club or particular stands or seats.

Rose of Denmark is a good pre and post pub.

Thanks Kap10, but my wife is pushing to do season tickets (and I'm not complaining at that!) so we're keen to commit. Had a look round the stadium on Sunday afternoon (kiddies tournament was on so we walked in!!) and liked what we saw. Appreciate the football may have been poor this season and that you've been lied to by the owners ...... but thats not putting us off! AFCB went through all this and eventually found a decent owner to invest and move the club forward. I'm confident Charlton will also turn the corner ..... perhaps the appointment of Chris Wilder will improve the on pitch performances. He's worked wonders at Northampton whilst they've been struggling financially.

Get tickets in the West stand then. You'll be right at home with the rest of the crowd that don't care about the plight of the club and just want to watch some football. Don't forget to buy flasks and blankets.

oooo! that's a bit harsh  Those of us in the West Upper that don't have arthritic knees have been increasingly on our feet protesting in the last few weeks. On Saturday, not only did we manage to smuggle our contraband in, most of it ended up on the pitch

I know it was  but to make a serious point, the flasks and blankets have definitely been replaced more and more with balloons and beachballs recently and the atmosphere has moved up a notch from somnambulant to mildly annoyed....

My wife and I have recently moved to East London and have decided to adopt Charlton as our new club (nearest geographically) and will be signing up for season tickets for 2016/17. It'll never replace our home town club (AFCB), but as we intend living locally for the next 20 years we wanted to follow a club that we could passionately get behind and attend matches. So, my question is ...... what do I need to know about CAFC? I know my football, but not so much about your team and club. Who's the players to watch? Why all the protests? Where to drink before a game? Whats the best stand to get our season tickets in (2 adults and a 14 year old!)? You get the idea, please help!! Thanks

Which bit of Bournemouth are you from?
Lived in Littledown until recently. Yourself?
    Good answer. I'm in Southbourne.

Who's your all time favourite Cherries player?

It's not all bad. We usually win about 9 games a season and scrape a few draws.

Maybe Gavin Peacock ....... remember him scoring a bycicle kick in front of the south stand in the old stadium ...... or maybe Jamie Hayter for scoring THAT hattrick ....... but overall its our Super Fletch ...... saw his debut, his hatrick against Brentford, his Great Escape winning goal and his final appearance. The man's a legend!

But for all you Addicks ...... old Kermi was a real favorite for a couple of years!

Look up a chap called Jose Semedo. Bit of legend around these parts. A MASSIVE legend in fact.

Tony, if you do come to Charlton to be with us, you'll be joining the greatest bunch of supporters anywhere, although we have been going through a tough time of it lately. The choice of stands is yours, if you are under 40, the North Stand is for you,(although I think the lower North is now about sold out) otherwise the other two are fine, you'll find the lower West is mainly occupied by us O.A.Ps. As for pubs, you have already been given a good selection , my regular is the Anchor & Hope, down by the river, at the end of Anchor & Hope Lane. Good beer on draft, and good pub grub. although it does get a bit crowded on match days. (sign of a good pub!). All this may seem a bit biased, but I have supported this club since just after the war,(for all those smart Alecs out there, that was WWll not the Boer War), and it gets, as with every Charlton supporter, into the blood. Do come along and experience the magic of The Valley. Hopefully, it will grab you like it has the rest of us.

Hi Sole bay, thank you for the honest and decent response. Its not an 'IF' we come to Charlton ..... we are .... my wife just text me asking how bet365 works ..... I asked what she's betting on and she said CAFC to win League 1 ...... god help us!!!!

We are football fans and want a friendly club to support. The board room issues don't concern me yet (am not a true fan in my eyes until I've been a dozen times!!) I just want the fun and thrills of saturday footy.

Anchor & Hope has been mentioned twice ....... will definately be in there giving it a try.

As for age ..... My user name gives it away, I'm 41.
