Out of interest, are the STTV fans going to take up protesting against Duchatelet after the Charlton visits? Is there sufficient discontent for the Charlton contagion to spread throughout his network?

From what I've read, the impression I get is that they don't like him at all but seem resigned to their fate.

Virtually everyone we have meet in the town dislikes him not just the STVV supporters. However his various businesses are huge employers in the town. One supporter described it as being trapped by him.

    Where was this, Springfield?
Yeah, Monty Burns or what?! I also find it extremely disturbing that he appears able to set the police on people who disagree with him.

@iainment FYI protest fund do not and have not sub(bed) fares.

which is why I didn't say protest fund. I specifically said I'd put something towards the Belgian activities.

OK, could you pay it into my Nigerian escrow account please. Thanks.

I wouldn't worry, recent events suggest the Belgian police are probably quite easy to evade
No, catching bad guys is hard work. The OB don't mind an easy job - like bullying folk who've done nothing wrong

Yeah, that's absolutely atrocious. Plus the fucking Mayor ordering that no leaflets be distributed... WTF?
  • Last time there was a great headline

"Charlton fans arrested in Belgium Tonight" (thanks to whoever wrote that)

It came as a surprise to most fans and was the first protest of its kind.

This weekend was bound to be different for a number of reasons but was still a success.

It showed RD and KM that the first wasn't an one off and that fans would continue to protest in their backyard

The leafleting of RDs house that so "incensed" him (his words) was repeated and spread to KMs house. We have yet to find out how that went down.

We can't make the media pick up a story in the UK. It seems it was bigger news in Belgium that here but that is fine.

Remember in the 70s one reason the IRA started a mainland bombing campaign was that bombs in Belfast were dropping further and further down the news agenda. They know one bomb in London was worth 10 in Londonderry in terms of news coverage.

PS I'm not associating our fans with terrorists or suggesting terrorist tactics

  • The protesting was all very well, but this is why we really went.

unlikely, but shows that the stick he got was unjustified

Not at all, anyone who tells people who have spent a heck of a lot of money and time to "f*** right off" deserve all the stick they get.
If they are going to use AA's jokey contribution as an excuse for that sort of action, then they are totally wrong.
However , that's the end of it now for me- as Henry would say...move on.

As far as I'm concerned, if it freaks out RD & KM that we can target their neighbourhoods then any other profile is a bonus. I find it odd to be frank that some seem to want to compete for personal recognition. CARD are doing what they're doing, and others are doing what they're doing. It's all complementary isn't it?

    Main text translates as...

    "

Roland Duchâtelt remains tempers touch with fans of the English team Charlton Athletic . The London club next season relegated to the Third Division and the fans do not like . Even protest at Stayen .

During STVV Lokeren fell spannddoek in the stands. "Roland & Katrien , time to go ," an unmistakable message to Charlton - owner Roland Duchâtelet , who is also the boss at Stayen . The fans of the English team protesting for some time against the former chairman Standard policy . As found earlier on Saturday a massive demonstration at the stadium of Charlton , The Valley. Some 5,000 supporters participated.

Duchâtelet took over the club in 2014 and had big ambitions with the club tradition , but it all turned out Andes . After this season, so it sinks in The Championship . Coach at Charlton 's José Riga , who took over a sinking ship in the course of the season after Guy Luzon and Charles Fraeye failed "

Not sure about the Spannddoeks and the Andes - sack the translator !
    Also, Charles Fraeye ??
  • Confusedcious say he who eats sweetbreads talks bollocks.
  • To be fair, it has all turned a bit Andes this season.

    And Murray, Him A Liar
  • Just to say, well done all at The Valley and in Belgium for the work and effort involved on Saturday.
Unfortunately I couldn't attend either, but, all involved did MY club proud, in my eyes.

    Keep on keeping on......
    Keep the Faith.......

    Paul.

Looks like a cracking weekend that drilled home to STVV's staff who will report onward to RD how unhappy some our fans are. He will either take note, or take it on the chin.
