Yes, a new low with the danger of worse to come unless Duchatelet sells up. Can't wait for the C;ub Statement, although they will hold on until the Bolton match when they will have to acknowledge relegation and all their mistakes which have contributed to it. Next season will be worse if they are both still here.

Gutted with the result - we were by far the better side second half and probably edged the first.

We had the chances to score but didn't take them - Igor's chance at the end especially.

Thought Cousins and Diarra were excellent again, as was Makienok who won every header and really was the foundation for many of our chances.

So upsetting. This side would never go down if we had it in August.

Roland almost there to achieving his dream of turning us into the new Leyton Orient. Course he won't be happy until we're known as a yo-yo League 2/League 1 team that sells the odd youth player to Preston and breaks even every season. But it's coming you stupid fucker....it's coming.

Been playing golf this afternoon and now having several beers. Getting in practice for next season when this is what I'll be doing. Pains me in one sense but our club is now toxic and until the Belgian Wanker and his brood have gone I'm done. Thanks Roland.
  • We went down today. Sad. Didn't see the game so this observation is on the wrong thread.

We started the season being told by KM we were set up to have the 3rd lowest budget in the league. God knows why because there were at least 6 clubs with less "natural" resources. We will finish the season with aprrox the 5th highest playing budget because Staprix wasted OUR money on roger Johnson, naby Starr and Cristian cebellos etc etc.

We have maxed out debt to roly fooking duchacnut paying for the hairbrain schemes of such quality individuals as katrien Marie, Tony kahone and Rachel Hawley.

    We finish 23rd. Thieving Cnut.

And ultimately we can forget all this shit that's been floating around in recent weeks about our spirited attempts to stay up. Players, team, management, executive level management and owner. Failures - every single one of them

I won't hear any excuses for any of them

We are gone. Given loanees Sanogo out and Mak too expensive, Igor and Lookie likely to be sold, is it time to debut Hanlon and Umerah? Bauer,TeX and Fanni unlikely to be around so Thomas, Konza and Yao? JBG will go, so Charles-Cook or Aribo for last 5 games?

One of the worse things about this relegation is those imposters will blame the fans.

I've been more or less resigned to relegatio since Christmas, but it still hurts to know it's actually happening.

Well done Northampton, a new ground to visit

I took my son to the Northampton game today, being as we live locally and he's a 'casual' cobblers fan....the fans were on the pitch afterwards, celebrating their success. The downer for me was that this will be a local charlton away game for me next season.

Really surprised we lost today. Roland doesn't do failure.

And "relegation is not an option."

Well, it certainly looks like that was right, not so much an option as an inevitability.

So for those who aren't protesting due to the belief that the regime are leading us In the right direction ; is now a good time to start?
    The most unnecessary relegation ever.

Duchatelet's relegation of Charlton Athletic is the worst and biggest failure that Duchatelet has completed in his involvement with football. He has failed in British football like he has failed in Belgium politics.

Duchatelet = Football Failure : Duchatelet = Voetbal Mislukking (Dutch)

Duchatelet is football failure : Duchatelet est l'échec de football (French)

Duchatelet = contemptable arrogant football failure : Duchatelet = verachtelijke arrogant voetbal mislukking (Dutch)

Charlton Athletic won't be able to rebuild until Duchatelet is gone. I want my club back, I want him gone.

Fair play to Riga for throwing four attackers on from the start, and when Sanogo went down throwing Mak on instead of, say, Motta. I said before the game that JBG is the one who just has a little bit extra composure, always seems to have a half second longer on the ball and that might have been the difference today. Credit to Callum and Lookman who, even if they don't always make the right decisions, sounded fearless and kept driving at their defense (and also tracking back at key moments). I think and hope the composure and decision making will come with time for both. Callum is still only 21 I believe, and Lookman is 18.

You have to think that Igor, with four or five more games under his belt would have put away at least one of the chances.

Lastly, Nick Pope has to be our more improved player this year. He seems to really command his penalty area, and it sounds like he gets it and he's always looking to release it quickly and start the counter attack. Would be happy to have him start next season as our number 1 next year.

There's been a lot on here about "not fighting for the shirt" and "not knowing what it's like to be Charlton," which I don't massively buy in to, but by all accounts the team seems to have really fought in the last three matches, battled back from being harshly 1-0 down today to nearly find a winner. It was only a month or two ago that, after conceding near halftime, we were dead certs to go on and concede another couple in the second half. Riga really has made an impact, and has gotten a lot more out of Pope, Fox, Cousins, and Harriott to name a few, as well as bringing some cohesion and fight into the team. Hope he sticks around.

    Agree absolutely.

We missed Gudmundsson today and probably Motta and Young as well. But: even if we'd picked up a few more points since Riga took over in January we'd still be heavily adrift of Rotherham and Huddersfield both of whom have played amazingly well in the last month. In that sense we are slightly unlucky. The mistake was in having an inadequate squad in August (10 defenders sold and loaned out between May and the start of the season) and then trying to patch things up with Fraeye in October, for at least 11 games longer than he should have had. Had we appointed Riga in early November my guess is we'd be on about 49 points now. Not great but safe.

Agree with a lot of these comments. Been relegated a few times and it's never fun, but this is different because it's so unnecessary. Caused by the misguided arrogance of a rich idiot.
  • It has been over for well over a month but this result confirms it, no miracle it is over.

This will be my third relegation as a fan, the other two depressed me, this one just makes me angry.

Sure the money had run out under the last lot but when RD took control we still had a good base to build on thanks to CP & the players he was allowed to bring in, they threw that all away.

Well congratulations Roland, here is the end result of your experiment.

Now sell up and never darken the door of our or any other football club you absolute failure.

The world of football does not need you and will be better without your involvement.

We've been down down for weeks. The season has been a car crash on and off the pitch.

Load of hot air coming out of the club about English players next year, an experienced head of player recruitment etc etc. Is it a coincidence that these stories a leaking out a week before the season ticket renewal deadline?

Sadly some will be sucked in by these stories.

I've no doubt they will turn out to be more lies and have a firm belief that the team is going to really struggle again next season.

Roland and Katrien have failed on an epic scale, something we were told Roland doesn't do.

The supporter relationship with the club is at its lowest ebb for years and only getting worse.

Its been a disater Roland. Go, sell, you aren't wanted here.

Some great saves from Pope. That first QPR goal is definitely offside. After the Cousins equaliser Charlton had a couple of excellent chances to go ahead, particularly Vetekele. Last minute goal in reverse adds salt onto the wound but a draw was not going to be enough. Going down.

Such a poor finish by Vetokele - really shouldn't have given the keeper any chance. Probably wouldn't have made any difference in the long run but, dear God, you have to finish chances like that.

Gave everything today. You cannot legislate for the linesman being a cunt I'm afraid. Even with the extra 5 points we could have got today and at Ipswich we would still have be 5+1 behind seeing as the others keep winning it mos probably ain't to be.

Down to fitness and sharpness. Vetekele of the start of last season would have scored that. With a proper pre season, he may get back to the player he was. Not sure that will be with Charlton, though due to his wages, and the length of contract, I don't think that is included in the FFP rules regarding turnover / wages.

So frustrating as we look a solid midtable side on today's evidence - well organised, hard working and dangerous going forward.

I beg to differ. Why was that poor finish down to fitness and sharpness? It was just down to poor finishing IMO.
He doesn't rank anywhere in my pantheon of top Charlton strikers.

Cue the club organising a Mensa test to qualify for this game, leaving real fans 1 week to arrange everything...
