If my Season Ticket is £150 next season I'm going to be mightly relieved

I do want to renew but dont know where the money will come from.
  • Attempting to sell season tickets now would be daft unless the price or add-ons make one big buy-me or miss out statement...given all that's happened and is happening I think it's worth RD doing something spectacular and offering an adult ST for say £150 anywhere in the ground, £125 if you are buying two or more adult STs or £100 if you are buying one or more kids ST tickets as well...get bums on seats and if the price can tip sales past a critical mass other STs will sell themselves and he can then charge want he wants on match days and to away fans...

If he were to do the above, it would shift a load of tickets, not sure how many would reliably turn up but it would be tempting for loads of families to buy tickets when they don't currently support. I reckon I know at least 5 families who would buy 4 even if in league 1, they wouldn't know much about Roland and I don't think they'd be put off by the protests. Maybe would join in after a month or so.
  • As a non-current season ticket holder I was going to say earlier that the price for me to buy one is around £150, and would need to be in some part of the North (and then walk down to North Lower if necessary).

I go to around 10-12 home games a season picking and choosing, so a season ticket around that price would make sense... and the club get to count me as attending 23 games - everyone's a winner.

Will not be surprised if the season-tickets are made cheaper than they are now. The Belgians will hope this ensures the people wavering on renewing cough up.

Matter of principle for me, I'm fucked if I'm going to anymore than half a dozen games so will use mates tickets and give them the dough.

I'll still do the aways but will non-league ground hop the home games.

This will be the case until somebody else takes over.

Perhaps I'm cutting my nose to spite my face.

THIS is a REAL quandary for me as I've always gone to football with my Dad since about the age of 5, it's something we've always done together & something I will always cherish, but now thanks to this poisonous regime our Charlton days could very well be over. I certainly do not want to give my hard-earned cash to RD whereas my elderly Dad who lives just around the corner from the ground doesn't have the same passionate hatred I have for this regime.

Saturday's will never be the same where I travel up by car from Kent, have lunch at my Dad's before we set off for our short walk to The Valley, do I give this up if my Dad decides to purchase a season ticket ? I'd like RD to know just how upsetting I'm finding all this, he's ruining a lifelong tradition between a Daughter & her Dad & for that I'd like to let him know JUST what I think of him but I also know he doesn't give a damn & that's what hurts the most - Cheers RD !!

@Sam lloyd it's a difficult one. The way I look at your situation is that the time you spend with your Dad sounds really important to you. Your Saturday routine is something you've done for a very long time and, just my view, it would be awful to have to end this family tradition because of Roland. I guess it's like weighing up whether your hate for Roland is great enough to make you stop going and also how you will feel if you don't go with your Dad.
  • Am in almost exactly the same position as @Sam lloyd just that it is the other way round and my old dad drives down to me and we go to the games together, as we have done for nearly 20 odd years now... I don't want RD to have any of my money BUT I also don't want to stop this tradition...
  • I won't be too impressed if they make my ST in the NL 150 quid for next season!! :-)

  • Serious question do the club have to offer a season ticket.

I know everybody does so but with these fuckwits in charge nothing would surprise me, after all they keep saying cash flows not a problem.
  • I'm definitely buying a season ticket if it's free.

Awwww thank you Arsenetatters it's the weighing up of the situation that lays heavy on my mind, thing is my hatred for RD is compounded all the more for putting me in this situation in the first place, it just shouldn't have to be like this but. My principles tell me not to renew but the thought of my dear old Dad going to football without me is unbearable.

It's simple, buy your season ticket with Dad but boycott food, drink, programme & merchandise. Make a nuisance of yourself, go to the bar & ask for 8 pints, as they're pulling the last one walk away. Go for tea & pie or whatever they sell, again place your order & then walk away. As to whether we should boycott maybe that's what they're waiting for, sit it out until seasons end thousands boycott & next season no protests, problem solved. I was definitely going to boycott but now I'm thinking that we have to be there to keep the pressure on them.
  • Not renewing or buying any more seasons until this lot have gone.
  • Thank you Stonemuse much appreciated.

Sam, in your personal circumstances, family ties must take priority ...no-one is around forever ...go to the games with your dad ...that is more important than anything.
Agreed. Don't let Roland ruin this, too.
  • same as many on CL I won't be renewing mine and grown up son. Will spend the money on a few away days plus will be posting this seasons card FAO KM & RM when season is over or we are relegated

  • If most people gave up their season ticket and bought on the day of the match it would cause the admin a headache and need more staff.

Of course it could cost the fan more money and aggro but there will be plenty of seats.
  • given that I'd go to all the home games anyway, I'd be giving RD more of my money by not buying a ST
  • Sam, its a no brainer. Your Dad comes first, no question and you should not feel guilty about it. Every second you spend your loved ones is precious and cannot be sacrificed for anything.

Exactly. Enjoy every minute at Charlton with your Dad as I did with mine. Still miss him, though what he would have made of today's nonsense I dread to think. Don't let RD spoil your time together.

Do you think R.D and K.M are getting worried about the lack of interest in buying S.T

She thinks it will only be 2 per cent dropping out, I expect. They will also be drastically misled by the data from our previous spell in League One.
They have the output from the Trust survey that suggested catastrophic numbers dropping away. I guess we'll see whether they take it seriously or choose to keep their collective heads in the sand.

I won't be renewing in the early bird period this year. If I lose my seat so be it. Maybe I'll just buy tickets as I go, which will mean I won't bother every time.
  • Roland is worth about £500m... Yes the Charlton debt is around £50m but the only way we'd go into Administration is if we got another Jiminez type owner come in who then ran us into the ground

Most of that is owed to him. Much of it has arisen because of trading between his companies.

Yes, I doubt he has £500M just sitting in the bank, though he is undoubtedly very wealthy.

I bet there are some on here "worth" £1M due to London property prices. Does not mean they have a load of cash to splash, though.
  • I wont be renewing. I bought one this year and haven't been to a game all season - more fool me. The second they are gone, I will renew (if the offer is still there) or will purchase a half, and then renew.

You do have to ask though, does it make financial sense to lower the price to £150 - even if it turns out to be an average figure per ticket? It will probably generate less than £1M income although in League 1 this may be a decent return?
  • No chance of a renewal with the clowns in charge.
  • further to comments on here I'm now in a little bit of a quandary. I don't want to renew and was going to attend most, not all, games and buy as and when as I didn't want to give them the benefit of my money up front. However, if I attend say 20 games out of the 23 then I am more than likely, over the season, to actually give them more money than if I actually purchased a season ticket. So, what do I do? Buy a season ticket but at the last minute? Stick to my original plan? How would not buying one affect their financial planning?

This going to sound stupid, probably because it is...

If all those who might go to some games, but not all, were to share season tickets with each other (while I have the voices in my head, I have heard that some people have friends), divvying up in advance the matches between them; up to 3-4 per season ticket - would that not allow people to get their fix and hit the regime in the pocket as well?

    Just a thought.
