Lots of effort in patches, especially last 10 minutes, very little quality. Despite what Riga says (not sure what game he was watching) Cardiff had by far the better chances and were the better team despite not seeming to play that well. I don't remember their keeper having to make a decent save, Henderson did and was aided by the post and the crossbar. Still time I s'pose but nothing today suggested we can survive the drop.
Sanogo is terrible, he can't control the ball and is so gangly. There is no way that him and Makienok can play up front together. He was hilarious to watch though so I hope he starts next week.
After MK Dons on March 8th, games look tough. We need three, arguably four, wins minimum from the next five against Fulham, Preston, Reading, Brentford and MKD. On current form, that looks a mile off.
Seeing that MKD beat Derby (after nearly beating Boro midweek), Bristol beat Ipswich and Fulham beat QPR, I'm not sure what are the easy and hard games in this division
Thought we looked better this week. Jackson looks well off the pace at the moment and I absolutely love him but something in midfield needs to change and at the moment it's probably him. Everyone worked hard so no complaints on that front but the quality just isn't there and we know where the fault lies with that. Never say never, but we'll come up against much better teams than Cardiff so not looking good really.

No idea why Poyet isn't starting in midfield as a shield for the back 4, Jackson would surely work better for the last 20 if we need a goal, rather than knackering himself doing the donkey work?
As everything about this season screams going down, I'm starting to think about next season, and the team/squad needs improvement to be competitive.
I wonder whether RD has been pondering the same scenario, jon.
Would relegation change his mind set regarding bringing in players with experience in the English leagues ? Surely this is highly unlikely as they would inevitably cost him more than he's prepared to pay...
If relegation is our fate, I can only see an owner with a serious dilemma on his hands ...Players on long contracts who do not fit the bill in Division One or want away to play at a higher level ( JBG ?) plus the cheaper option of more Academy youngsters blooded too early & played too often.
I honestly believe he hasn't prepared for his team to be playing outside the Championship so maybe this is our best chance of escaping from the clutches of this weird Belgian.

Please don't give up on us yet, PV !
I would have thought just staying in this league has been the aim ever since he took over, while cashing in on players, with a possible big bonus of selling a premier club, relegation if it was my money would change everything, a face saving(in my mind) exit would surely appeal.
Some positives today, especially after the substitutions.
Really pleased with Teixeira who was solid and physically strong, Cousins looked like the playbreaker/ball winner we've craved since days of yore and Solly was particularly good going forward although a couple of times he stood too far off the winger, allowing the ball to be whipped into the zone and almost conceding.
I was impressed with Big Mak, he calmed after the initial tellings off from the ref and adapted his game very successfully.
I hope Sanogo is the answer to our goal problem because, if he is - and we see Lookman used in conjunction, we have a chance of staying up, if not it is likely we're down.
It was great to hear the CAFC fans get behind the team for the last 15-20 and for those of you who felt that the mid-match protests went off with a whimper, a small price to pay, say I, if it means the crowd get excited and egg the team on - might just keep us up.
16.7k attendance apparently.. Well 3k of these were free tickets given out so that's that down to 13.7k, minus the away fans, and the circa 3-4k or so not attending.. We're down to the bare bones!
"Cardiff deserved to win the game, but for me the most important was to see a reaction from my players. The way we played pleased me a lot.
"Now we must make sure we keep this up in the next game. With these efforts we will get what we deserve.
I'm realistic. Results have not been the best, but what can we do?
"If you think and act like a team you can do a lot things. I believe in work, commitment and I always stay optimistic. It's a step forward."
The above is from J Riga, I despair, "What can we do"?...here's an idea stop bringing in unfit, not used players, that would be a good idea! also why get rid of a proven goalscorer (Watt) welcome to League 1 mate!!
Cardiff should've won because thay hit the woodwork twice, Henderson (my MoM) pulled off several good saves, and cardiff at times were cutting through us like butter and were profligate. For our own part we were narry a threat to them, and what we did muster they dealt with easily enough.
Relegation is a certainty now in my view, and anybody with any wisdom would start to prepare for next season. We don't even look up to the standard of Wigan who went down so miserably last season.

Arrgghhhh!!!!!!!!!
So, reading his comments, what he is saying is that we should get what we deserve, provided we play like we did today, having just said that Cardiff deserved to win.
Logically speaking therefore, what he is saying must be that we must keep playing at this level and we will lose our games....
Terrible game , not enough about us to stay up , Mak probably our best player today and I'm very critical towards him says it all really , gutted but we are going down .
When Lookman came on with his pace we were really able to stretch them as our chances had been a little limited. But we were dogged at the other end and Hendo made some good saves. Overall a point is a fair result.

Yeah I agree. Great hat-trick from Lookman today, and great dancing celebration by the corner flag with Messi too.
Sanogo looked pretty good I thought, the ball stuck to him and was way more involved in his short spell than Reza had been all game. Poyet didn't look bothered and Ba needs electrodes strapped to his backside - so languid and half-arsed.
Plus points - Yaya Sanogo looks like he could be a handful. A rare clean sheet. Negative points - JC's Hammys going. Referee took too much time dishing out lectures to naughty boys. And by the way ref, it's a contact sport you c.....

he's a handful like how a problem child can be a handful

That's how I saw it too. On that performance we can't doubt the passion of the players. I just don't think they are technically good enough as a team. Important to give a shout out for Morgan Fox. They targeted him from the kickoff and the first 10 mins were shaky but, second half he was one of our best players on the pitch for me.
Cousins was immense, just hope its not a torn hamstring he was feeling as he departed. Unfortunately, it looks like age has caught up with Jacko in the last few games and we just can't go on being overrun in midfield.
Sanogo caused problems when he came on but I'm not convinced he will get us the goals required to win enough games. We desperately need a fit and firing Igor.
An improvement for sure, but we have set the bar very very low. The last 10 minutes were pretty exciting and it might easily have ended up 2-2. I thought Sanogo played pretty well on his first outing. He may not score many (would we have got him if he did?) but he looks like he can make things happen around the box at this level.

Lookman didn't put a foot wrong today - seemed a different player.
Couldn't believe the shenanigans going on today when Jacko was injured and eventually subbed. Amateur that the only word that can describe the Coach and also the Owner. He's here for the foreseeable well the way we are going Amateur is exactly what we're going to end up in the Ryman.

As good as down, things will only get worse after this season.

Fortunate to get a point. Henderson did more work than the Cardiff version
Frantic spell at the end did nothing to lift my spirits.
We're going down

Not really sure how that would be a step forward.
But hey, what do I know?
Lookman motm, fantastic goal.
