I totally agree with Ken. Surely something like that needs to be a statement from CAST and all the other bodies in that meeting A few weeks ago.
They've said they will assess the situation after the January transfer window closes.
The trust have a great opportunity to significantly increase their numbers if they were in the Vanguard of discontent being expressed right now and as @LargeAddick and a few others have said would sign up immediately as would I. C'mon CAST relegation will be a total disaster, another 5/6 weeks and it could be too late, this is our hour of need, go for it, YOUR time to stand up and be counted is now!

That's fair enough I guess but don't think anyone really believes anything significant will change in January to arrest this slide into League One.
I understand why they would want to do it, but we have seven league games between now and 30th January, we could already be cut adrift by then. It's a tough call to make. I wonder if it's worth applying pressure now in the hope it will force the club into removing Fraeye, installing someone better (I know...some hope!), then giving them the players in January to turn things around?
Why do we need to go down to clear out shit players? How about instead we buy right in the first place and dont cock up every single decision from board level down to tactics?
We thought we'd come back with ease last time round, it took 3 seasons to get out of League 1 , with the way we are being run, i fear it could be a lot longer this time round.
Dropping into league one would be simply a disaster on all fronts , a financial disaster it's the last thing you need .
good post .. I wonder if your result yesterday will lead to Jackett (no tie) being sacked before Wolves take the plunge ..
and NO NO NO .. relegation for us would be a catastrophe of Titanic proportions .. excuse the hyperbole .. disastrous, death knell, no salvation, no resurrection during my lifetime
Our friends from across the city cry to bed every night because of their activity in the pub league .
Precisely. And if the biggest, most respected and admired club in Sheffield can fester down in the lower leagues for years it's a stark warning to us all ;-)

If Jacket does get the bullet he'd be a good fit for us...........Oh hang on a minute we don't do experienced Championship British managers at their level of pay. Anyway Kenny has already performed miracles once in South East London and probably wouldn't want to go through all that again.
I think some nutter trots this out for every club that's near the relegation zone and the answer is no, relegation will not be better because;
-There will be a contraction in finances
-Katrien was recently lauding how well she'd done at tying up the majority of the squad on multi year deals so I'm not sure how we would clear out the "deadwood"'
-Charlton are a less enticing prospect for a potential new owner in league one
-We'll be in a far weaker position to attract fans who might otherwise be tempted to go to watch West Ham at the Olympic Stadium if we start two divisions apart (although, of course a according to Katrien this isn't s risk)
-Our exciting young prospects will far less inclined to stay with us for a season (or three) of being kicked around at Fleetwood & Oldham when the big Premier league teams come knocking.
And that's just off the top of my head. So no, you couldn't be more wrong, relegation at this point within the current context will be one of the worst things to happen to this football club, it's almost a perfect storm from which we will struggle to fully recover, ever.
Our 'exciting young prospects' do not stick around in the Championship either-Shelvey, Jenkinson, Poyet and Gomez were in the first team for no time at all.

I suspect that uncle Ken's miracle man days are over .. he's made a pig's ear of managing an expensive Wolves squad most of whom he signed .. he'd certainly struggle to turn our thin, callow and inexperienced bunch into overnight winners

Quite - imagine how much harder it'll be to not only retain but attract young talent in League One.
Honestly, with the other factors I mentioned, this is probably the worst time in our history to be relegated to the third tier and I genuinely do not think the people running out club grasp just how catastrophic it will be.
Its not contradiction, just saw on Saturday that we are simply not good enough! If we can't get a point week in week out maybe its better we drop? I will at least see them win more than they lose!!!

We need 1.33 points, week in week out, to meet the 50 point mark (credit Lairdman on ITTV for the stat).
But as I say relegation will devastate the club and is losing football matches will be the least of your concerns.
What you are supposed to say is that we are certain to be relegated, and this is certain to see us drop out of the football league and it will be the end of Charlton.
No other option is even thinkable and to be honest I'm amazed you haven't been slated for your mildly optimistic post.

Or Tranmere who were 4th in 1992-93 in the old Division 1 (equivalent of the Championship) who are currently mid table in the National League.
Or, more recently, Barnsley who were in the PL in 1997-98 and are currently heading for League 2.
Momentum is a two way street. And once you are heading downhill it's a very difficult climb back up.

We go down and I fear league one becomes "our level" for a number of years struggling to break even with Championship ambition.
