Isn't it an achilles injury? Nasty injury. In the old days they used to finish a player, Norman Whiteside, for example.
Jon Fortune was never the same player after his achilles injuries.
Igor had the same last year, I believe.
Cheers Oggy, also finished Derby and England CH Roy McFarland IIRC. mind you surgery not as advanced as it is today.
That's right, Mr Chaser.
Fortunately surgery has advanced tremendously in recent times - and many players now recover satisfactorily from what were once career ending injuries.
It's not really that long ago that a player with a major neck or back injury or torn cruciate ligaments meant their career was finished. Not today though.
Makes sense, we don't sign players unless they have something wrong with them. He looked too good and too old to be a Duchatelet signing, something had to make him cheap. Turns out he's a cripple :L
He was sitting in West stand today and walked up the steps past me, I saw no sign of a limp and he didn't look like he had any problems getting up the steps. Surely with a serious Achilles problem he would have difficulty walking?
Sorry for Kashi and Charlton. Kashi as holding midfielder makes us less reliant on Diarra, and allows Diarra to cover defence.
The new signings bar Bauer have not been up to much for one reason or another. Thank feck for the Academy youngsters coming through to the first team. They have saved the team from complete disintegration. Just need some experienced championship heads to balance the team.

The summer signings have overall been very disappointing, and we can't even complain that they were SL rejects!
The fact that NONE of them started today says something. Yes injuries have taken their toll, but back in August I doubt many imagined that we've have a first choice front 3 of Vaz Te, Lookman, and Reza, or that Harry Lennon would be ahead of Sarr!

Perhaps it's because I just don't trust much of this lot, but I've thought there's been something 'not right' with this 'injury' since he first disappeared from the team.

My thinking as well.
He looked incredibly pissed off in kids hospital visit pictures.
There has more or less been silence on this "injury". Lets not forget he was very much a Luzon signing, possibly the only one he had any influence over.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if he moved on in January.

Thought kashi and Bauer were the only two quality signings we made in the summer tbh. His first half vs qpr I think it was reminded me of Scott Parker the way he broke up attacks and made defence splitting passes to set up an attack and was just so relentless and hardworking it was like having an extra player. Seems that hardworking and tenacious nature has already taken a toll on his body. Shame, he made ba look a decent player as well
To add to that KA, the first half against Hull reminded me of Javier Mascherano - snapping into tackles, winning the ball back any time Hull got in our half. Real shame if he's out long term as Diarras not getting any younger and I wouldn't, at this stage, have complete faith in a back four including Sarr with no Diarra or Kashi to protect/guide him.

That's the game! Hull. That first half was fantastic.
I thought at the start of the season that we finally had some real quality in the team. Right at the top of the list were Kashi and Watt. Kashi looked like the player we had been missing for so many years since the Parker days. The commentators were raving about him in the televised Hull game. He followed that up with an amazing strike at Peterborough. He then, for no apparent reason, disappeared, never it seems, to be seen again. It does at times feel like this club are teasing and tormenting us poor fans.

Wont move on if he's 'injured'.
A bit like we were told watt was injured then less than a week later he was playing for Cardiff!!

It's a very interesting view and it would explain a lot. It does seem a very mysterious injury.

I think transparency about injuries is something we should demand. It's one thing to be vague about short term injuries to keep the opposition guessing, but quite another about something like this.
Having said that, we have been here before, as I've said several times. I can't remember exactly which year but it would be that when Parker picked up an innocuous pre season injury but then failed to appear until November. It was the culmination of a run of mysteriously long injuries. The fans kicked up a fuss, and then there were wholesale changes to the backroom staff. I got the impression at the time that RM and the board were a bit in the dark themselves; the fan pressure did not directly result in the action they took but did make them confront the fact that something wasn't right.
Personally what worries me is not that players are injured a long time, because unfortunately that happens, but that we seem unable to diagnose effectively. That seems to be the case with both Kashi and Vetokele.

Perhaps Kashi's injury hasn't healed properly or there's persistent inflammation?
He's already seen a specialist so obviously something is not right.
