  • Some of the defence of this man is truly shocking to me.

The nature of his comments, to me, implies institutional racism (much like some of the posters on here don't seem to realise how dated and offensive
their 'harmless' language is). It implies that in public he knows what not to say, but in private is happy to refer to people he cares little about in the most derogatory terms possible.

I do agree that labelling someone a 'racist' because of a one-off racist comment isn't entirely fair, but I suspect those texts revealed the man's nature, not just a bit of banter.

Just because a racial slur has become somewhat normal to use, it does not make it ok. Far from it; it's that kind of racism that's the most damaging as it doesn't get called out in the manner of a blatant abusive phrase. The "we all call a Chinese a chinky" argument is a lazy and inaccurate defence to put up, and sadly, has revealed much about some of our own supporters.

Yes i am for real, a lot of people do refer to the take away as a chinky.

I haven't said it is ok to do so, just comenting that with the mass outrage at the potential appointment of MM you would think that these things don't go on, they do and alot of people believe it to be acceptable.

And a lot don't use that language in public or private, don't find it acceptable and don't want it at Charlton.

Ha ha, someone used the wrong cliché again.
lol - whatever you say Mr Henry the Intellectual!
I would also advise to wash that head when you pull it out.
Look, another cliché used rather than any real argument. At least you got 50% cliché success.

0% in actually offering a response that wasn't a cliché or had any substance though. Again
Watch out you common type Charlton supporter. Speak against Henry and he will refer you to gain a English degree before posting a comment on this site. Hows the stamp collection going Henry?

So intellectual, you cant read beyond a cliche! proves intelligence is not all and only about education.
  • @Malkymackay Interview done.#bullshitbafflesbelgiumbrains. In the bag. I'm off down the chinkys for a special chow mein and some pork balls.

Sorry probably missed something is this what was said by Malky Mackay that deems him a racist and unemployable? Or is there more?
  • So Henry says it isn't Malky so are we back to Fraeye or is someone else in the frame?
  • So Henry says it isn't Malky so are we back to Fraeye or is someone else in the frame?

Henry can't comment further. He's keeping his head up his arse. Feet on the ground, head in the clouds and sitting on my high horse.

Couple of wins Malky and watch the fickleness fold from some of our supporters!
Btw - how many of you guys/girls had a takeaway chinky last night!

    Chinky?
That term is racist even if it is used by a lot of people who say they don't mean any harm by it.
People don't order in a pizza and declare they're having a 'wop', or buying patties and saying they're having a 'coon' or a 'n*gg*r'.
  • But Jimmy the language we use is often determined by who we are with.

As an example I used to work with a Nigerian girl who I got on really well with and we would take the piss out of each other and it would include racial stereotypes and slurs. This was fine cos we knew each other's boundaries and were comfortable with it and knew it was a joke rather than something we truly believed or would act on etc.

If outsiders over-heard is they would have probably reported us.

What I'm saying is that Malkay was talking privately with someone and they obv had their own boundaries of what was acceptable between the two of them.

I know lots of people who have made jokes about the Jews for example when amongst friends. I don't for one second think any of them would treat a Jew in a derogatory way cos I know them well enough.

Malkay was stupid but it doesn't mean he is definitely a racist just as I'm not because of my story above.

I don't think that was the case with Malky. I've said some ridiculous things ironcially too, it's the kind of humour that mocks those who use the language for real.

I suppose I can't prove it, but I don't think Malky was being ironic. I think we got a glimpse of what he's really like.

  • One of our players who started today is drinking in Chislehurst as we speak(fact as I have a pic).
The player has confirmed Malkay is our new manager.
So if true we have Luzon on the pitch with the new boss looking on, f****** disgraceful.
    Welcome to the circus Malkay

Luzon did exactly the same to Peeters. I'm happy with Mackay if it is him. Better than another foreign no mark.

You'd rather have a racist than "a foreigner"?
  • Leaving aside his persistent racist texts I don't think Malkey is any good as a manager, he spent shed loads to take Cardiff up didn't he?
If we appoint Malkey or Nigel Pearson or whichever British style manager, either the manager is promising to work under Roland's system or far more unlikely Roland is prepared to change his approach.

  • Karel Fraeye

1-10 on SkyBet, so the bookies agree with you. The book on who will be manager in February opens this afternoon, as soon as Fraeye is announced.

I'd rather have a manager with proven experience of the division we want promotion from. He did well at Watford and Cardiff, Wigan were doomed regardless.

Thanks. Not good reading clearly is more to it than popping down the local Chinkey for a takeaway!
  • As a manager I'm not sure about Malky, I think he was a good manager and did a good job at Watford with their limited resource then was the man to finally get Cardiff promoted after so many had failed with their talented squad. Plays a bit direct but seems to be able to organise a team together well. I think though that his incident would have probably lessened his command of a dressing room though which may be part of the reason for his struggle at Wigan and maybe players won't look at him the same or respect him at all.

I agree with the principle and the example, but the content of his texts was a bit more than playing with stereotypes. I think the comment on Phil Smith could be viewed that way, but 'not many white faces among that lot'?? Hmm...
  • If he's not a racist then he certainly likes to help them out when they're busy.
