My heart sank when I saw that Cheerleaders are coming back.
It was a terrible idea before and it is a terrible idea now.
I'm sure they are very talented, work very hard at their sport and enjoy it but it is still a terrible idea.
It just looks cheap, sexist and rather desperate on behalf of the club.
It doesn't help create an atmosphere, bring in more fans (young or old) and just annoys a lot of fans. Yes, we now know you think what long standing fans think doesn't matter and complaints are for dismissing rather than learning from but you are still wrong. It isn’t “new” or “fresh” nor does it appeal to a different demographic.
If you think that by copying this very embarrassing aspect of what Palace do but ignoring all the other things that they do do well at Palace (like articulating a vision for the future, communicating with fans and backing their managers financially) then you are badly missing the point.
Let it be a one-off on the TV and then stop it. All these unconnected and pointless gimmicks (the Sofa, the last minute Kids for a quid with hardly any advertising) are no substitute for a thought out, planned and long term marketing strategy linked to the long term vision for the club. Whatever that is.
Just stop the cheerleaders. Please
What does it mean by Grace will be doing some tricks? Sounds a better half time activity than a fag in the n stand toilets.
think they should do it before the game, at half time and during overtime.
Soccer????? Exactly. It's an American thing and as most things American, it's crap. Leave it in the USA and at Shitehurst park where the Nigels' can get all excited. Not at the valley, please.
One thing is for sure: whoever is behind this idea is an extremely stubborn person. He must know the fans don't like it (cue the University of Greenwich episode) yet he doesn't seem to care about their opinions on this. As long as HE thinks it will look good for this rare occasion (we get on TV only a couple of times per season), he will just go for it.
Well, the girls do look gorgeous and I'm sure they're very good at what they do. But tweeting this news to @CAFCOfficial with a photo in which they're all in blue and red outfits is simply the worst idea of all time. It looks like an omen of disaster.
I'll suffer if I have to, as it's you,,,, take my seats out, replace with the sofa, then the cheerleaders , male/female can sit with me and some delicious food/drinks from the catering department.

Can't we just sing a few songs and create a bit of an atmosphere ..... Rather than copy the shit bits of palace
If only. I miss the old days of the single tiered covered end. Atmosphere was amazing then.
If having Cheerleaders there gets the crowd to sing even if its to try and drown them out, then its helped to create a better atmosphere than has been down there for a while. We need the fans and the players pumped up for games more. Gotta be worth a shot.
Pity about the colour of the outfits though. No red and white substitutes for the day?
I don't think they understand the best bit of the match day experience is fans coming together to watch a football team they connect with, not pretty programme sellers, cheerleaders, sofas, fluffy mascots or chats about the grass or the training ground or women's role in football. Charlton is a traditional English football club not a Belgian WI
We've had this conversation before. The difference between being old fashioned, and respecting and building on tradition and heritage. Digital ticketing, yes. Cheerleaders, no.
Did Palace have them before the game with us? Is that where this idea has came from?
Great opening post @Henry Irving Nobody does that sort of post better

They had them before the game, and at half time.
Along with the eagle that flew across the pitch (I joked to my son that we'd see a robin released before the next home game if Katrien saw that).
Just waiting for BDL to start attempting to get us to shout the goalscorer's surname in future after we score - albeit I don't think that will be happening much tomorrow unfortunately.

Don't know about having them before game, but definitely had them half time.

Posed with fans as they walked around the ground to. Really against this, did not mind the dancers last year as they were dancing not trying to titillate with their butt cheeks hanging out.

He could try.

Is that Ross or me
'One Ross one, there's only one Ross one...................'

perhaps if you score on the pitch with a cheerleader tomorrow more than a cheer will be raised.

I can assure you that you are far more irritating than the cheerleaders.
Writing a letter of complaint to the club about this, you are truly unbelievable.
