personally always liked big mak. His performance against hull at the beginning of the season showed what he could do. As i've said, good on him for giving it back. Like lots of target men on his day can be devastating, but sometimes can get bogged down during games. Heskey was unplayable if you got him wound up, i think i remember reading Rio's autobiography saying that he'd always be friendly to heskey during games, otherwise he'd be a nightmare. I think big mak is much the same.
Also goes to show how quality yann was for us, who was consistently absolutely class as a target man for us.
Expecting to sign for us this window on full contract
Where has this rumour come from?
Would be good if true as gets one bit of huge business out the way before the summer and would be a good statement from the club, not just for us fans but the players too
Remember Simon Church doing the cupped ear to the North Stand after scoring against Oxford in the League Cup two seasons ago... It went into meltdown on here with some who found it terribly offensive
Ah Simon Church finger to the lips...
Fair play he was poo, but he did his job that day.
Charlton Athletic are close to sealing a permanent deal for Simon Makienok according to reports coming out of the ATA Hotel. The Dane joined the South London side in the summer, and it seems he’s done enough for the club to buy him outright.
TMW have reported from the ATA Hotel in Milan that Charlton Athletic are closing in on Makienok, and could look to get a deal done before the deadline. The hotel is where all the agents in Italy get together during the transfer window to hold talks and close transfer deals.
The Danish international has started 15 league games since his loan move from Serie A's Palermo in the summer. The initial deal was that Charlton Athletic would take the player on a season long loan, but they want to exercise their right of redemption even though he’s only be at the club for 6 months.
Makienok may have sealed his move to Charlton Athletic after scoring a brace at the weekend against Rotherham United. With the Championship side in a battle to avoid relegation this will come as positive news for the club and supporters.
“It’s not that I want to get into the situation where the other team’s fans get on me but if that’s where I have to go to perform then it’s fine by me.
“I won the duel with their captain. He tried to get in my head but I think I closed his mouth my scoring the second goal. That gave me the most satisfaction.

After playing well over the last few weeks, scoring a couple of goals, and again playing well on Saturday against Cardiff, winning most headers in both boxes, why on earth do we have so many idiots still booing him when he touches the ball. I thought the idea of fans is to support the team rather than getting on their backs every time they touch it. Some of our fans do a better job of winding our players up than the opposition fans. Maybe they should move to the South Stand.
Best attacking player in recent weeks, and currently our best striker. People need to get off his back cos at least he gives a fuck, unlike a lot of others who don't

Think he would have done a lot better with a fit Igor. I'm happy with hIm, as like others say, he cares..
Thought he played well on Saturday - not really sure what else he could have done. Won the majority of headers and put himself about.
Was a classic Chris Iwelumo style performance for me... Won every header going, the only ones he didnt win was when he used his strength to beat the opposition player to the ball which resulted in a free kick to Cardiff
I still wonder how the likes of Kevin Davies would get away with so much on the pitch if Iwelumo / Makienok get blown up for a foul each time

Great post. Bloke behind me in the East stand hates him. Yet never said fuck about vaz te or foxs poor performances. Hes not the real deal but our only decent goal threat.

The lad involved in Flag gate also hates him. He wasn't there Saturday to see a dominating performance from Big Mak.

Exactly the same with the dickhead behind me in the West Lower. Had an argument with him on Saturday and he threatened that I'll get kicked out if I carried on.
Every time Makienok does anything he is on his back but says other players are unlucky, such an opinionated, stuck up bastard, does my head in.
Makienok works hard for the team and we are clearly a better side with him in it. He was isolated on Saturday with Reza being asked to play wide and Johann behind Makienok, as soon as Sanogo came on, we looked like we could score and were a little unfortunate not to at times.
I hope he stays as I personally think he's a good player.
Missed the Hull and Shef Weds games so was good to see him play well on Saturday. I was struggling to see how he was any good before, but as well as the headers he took the ball down well and knocked it onto players on our team - which is what you really want from a target man, not just flick ons.
Only thing he didn't do was put the ball in the back of the net when he had a couple of good chances. With Igor feeding off him instead of Reza I think we'd have got a couple.
Whatever division I hope we will sign him , be a real handful in div one
Can't see him signing for us in league 1. I actually dread to think what sort of XI / squad we will see. We desperate need a complete overhaul (yet again). Honestly believe that unless something happens off the pitch we have absolutely no chance of coming back up for a good few seasons. Nobody at the club knows what they are doing, who in theirright mind woukd would sign for this club? If it just about money, then we are signing to wring players. We need players to play for the badge not the shirt. Get ready for more journeymen and complete unknowns - the type who have been involved since Roly and co rolled up.

Size really can work against a player in these situations. Peter Crouch was always getting pulled up for fouls going for high balls even though the bloke wouldn't know how to foul if his life depended on it. Davies on the other hand doesn't have the build of a monster striker so he got away with being a right bastard under the radar. Costa could have been the same but he doesn't have the subtlety.

We want players @ Charlton who want to play for us... I honestly don't see us signing Simon Makienok on a permanent deal in the Summer as think the Third Tier will be below his standard, yet if he does sign because of how much he likes it here, it'll be two fingers up at those who sarcastically cheered every header he won in previous matches

He won nearly everything on Saturday yet there were still cockheads sarcastically cheering.

Yeah I heard it a few times myself... Was utterly bewildered, think they soon stopped when they realised no one was joining in with them

Imagine he will lose his shit if he scores in front of the covered end on Saturday.
