"Back in no time, just like last time"

Last time he was out for a third of the bloody season !
Didn't it take a long time for the injury to be x-rayed and operated on? Don't think it was as long as feared after the op.

    let's all hope so ..
  • Just saw that tweet, 'have to go under the knife again' sounds like an ongoing problem, that gives me a concern as I highly rate Stephen, that type of injury has to be a long term issue surely?. Obviously wish him a full recovery, and I do mean a full recovery, not to break down again later on in the season.

    It's his other shoulder.

Well, I guess that is some good news, although I might be thinking that he is vulnerable, as some players are to ham string tears.
  • Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Stephen Henderson has revealed that he had a 'dark time' at West Ham United, but is now happy to be playing again with the Addicks.

The 27-year-old spent two seasons at Upton Park, but left the club in 2014 after failing to feature in a Premier League game. Henderson admits the period at the club was a difficult one, and he is content to put that period of his career behind him.

"I didn't enjoy it, to be honest," Henderson told Goal . "Obviously it's a fantastic club with a great history, but it just wasn't for me from day one. Being on the bench wasn't for me, and when you're not playing it affects your whole life. It was a dark time, but I've come out of it stronger.

"I needed to leave. It wasn't going very well for a couple of years, and it was just about getting my name out there, and I think I did that last season."

Henderson won plaudits for his performances at Charlton last year, and is now enjoying his football at the Valley. The former Republic of Ireland youth international missed the club's start to the season, but should return to the first team once recovered from injury.

"I've really enjoyed it since I've signed," the goalkeeper said. "Obviously the only thing is the injury side of it, I had an operation last year, and the same again this year. That's been a bit of a disappointment.

"But the club itself is great, we have a good manager, and a lot of stability. I think we'll push for the playoffs this year. What I've seen early on, we have the players to definitely have a chance. We'll see. There's obviously 39 games to go, but we're looking in good shape so far."

Having failed to play in the top flight with the Hammers, Henderson is determined to rectify that by helping the club win promotion.

"It would be a great thing to do with Charlton," Henderson revealed. "It's every boy's dream to play at the highest level, so I'll be trying for it.

"But now, it's just about me getting fit, and getting back in the first team."
  • "A lot of stability". Blimey, I wonder what constitutes an unstable situation in his eyes!
  • Does anyone know when Hendo will be match fit, and available for selection?

Yes, I was thinking that! The manager who was there when he signed, sacked after 6 months. The goalkeeping coach leaving, and happy to go...

I think Henderson will need to oust Pope in any case, so there's no particular rush.

No chance Hendo's Number 1, once he's back he's straight in the side. Pope's improved granted, however is still making the odd mistake which will start costing us, Hull?

A fit Henderson will win you points on his own and if were serious about challenging we need him playing as much as possible.
I agree with you. But I don't think they will be rushing Henderson back, until he's 100% match fit, as opposed to 100% training ground fit. IYKWIM.
  • Suspect if he's fit he'll play on Saturday. No brainer, one of the best keepers in the league, probably would be in the Premier League without the injuries, and a massive presence in the team.
