  • Wondering if de Sutter is still in the picture somewhere? Still not moved to Bursaspor yet...
  • Katrien will give me a good birthday present, i just know it
  • We were ruined last season by having a broken Igor and no-one decent to pair him with. When Watt joined we then slowed down towards the end of the season when Watt's fitness caught up with him a bit and Igor continued to be broken. If we sign these two strikers, one of them a big lad will, it show that the obvious areas of concern are starting to be addressed, which is a real step forward for the scouting side of things

Both are big lads, Kramer 6 ft 5 and Makienok 6 ft 7.
  • I'd prefer Kramer to Makienok.
Then bring in another diddy striker.....someone in the Sam Baldock mould. Brit with Champ experience.

Not Baldock. He has been grossly overrated from one good season with MK Dons. Got mates who are both Bristol City and Brighton and neither of them rate Baldock

No more small strikers, two is enough. No need for three nippy strikers and only one target man. If the big lad gets injured we're back to square one.
  • If both do come off then I am pretty sure the two of them (and Ba/Bauer) would account for all/most of the up front fee we got for Gomez. Which is positive in the sense that it shows RD and co are definitely investing and wanting to press onwards and upwards but it does suggest to me that we are unlikely to bring in more players without a few more going out unless Roly suddenly changes his mind about this whole 'book balancing' shtick of his... which seems implausible.

I'll be impressed if we bring in Kramer and Makienok. With Igor and Watt that would be a big improvement on the options we had up front last season and won't have come cheap.

big improvement on anything we have had for eons

Dont forget you do also have Callum Harriott / KAG who can be that nippy Striker (the former especially if he can rediscover his end of the season form from 2014).

Get these two Strikers in along with Bulot and I'm almost happy with the Squad, get two more Centre-Backs (just the one if we sign Hoban) and an attacking Midfielder as priority then see what we can sign in terms of backup for more competition, its shame cos I noticed that Stephen Quinn had been signed by Reading on a Free Transfer, he'd have been perfect for us

Why would Ciftci want to drop from the SPL to League One? Celtic will stump up the cash eventually. I think this will be the third player they've taken from Dundee United in the last year.

Absolutely not a drop. League One is far, far better than the SPL. The SPL needs to be re-classified as a specialist interest subject along with the rest of Scottish LEAGUE football and kept north of the border. We shouldn't have to hear about it, see it, or get any exposure from it at all. If you want to follow it, you must do so in your own time
    As opposed to?

Sorry Red Robin, wasn't have a pop at you at all, just a pop at Scottish league football - you weren't the subject of that rant in any way shape or form
  • I think we will see a different Igor tot he one who ended the season, still think he could be a 15-20 goal a year forward for us.

    This.

Igor wasn't the same after his injury, hopefully he can hit the ground running like last season and avoid any niggles.
And how nice will it be if Igor does get an injury to have Watt ready instead of using Harriott upfront.
If we sign both Kramer and Makienok then we'll have plenty of good quality options, don't get me wrong KAG is going to be one hell of a player one day, but he's not ready to make the jump yet like Gomez did IMO
No he won't be. He will fade out in my opinion.

In a funny way, 4 first team strikers almost seems too many for 4-4-2, especially as all of them are young, rather than an old head happy to come off the bench or be a reserve, or a talented youngster. It will be hard to keep them all happy, and hard to build up a partnership if we rotate.
  • 4-3-3 then. Cousins Ba and Diarra

    JBG new guy Watt

Jeez you really are in the know.

Hats off to you for putting 2+2 together and making up the rest.
Excellent piece of inside info Colin......
  • Colin gets a hard time but he keeps on posting. Fair play to him.

insecure bullies with nothing better to do.

Don't know why he bothers to be fair. At what stage does an on-going 'joke' become bullying?
  • He is a bit like Acworth ie a sandwich short

I hate that but then I am greedy.
  • Hopefully not being too far from Watford means we are a more attractive proposition for Hoban than the other clubs?
