Excellent, it was obviously written in good humour, give her a break it's an analogy (a crazy LSD one) with a difference.

It quite clearly states that its not really going to be about the football.

I’m at the Valley. I’ve recently moved within ten minutes’ walk of this crimson beacon and I imagine I’ll be spending a lot of time here, so figure it’s time to start cataloguing my impressions of the matches, team, and other Addick curiosities. I know nothing about the practicable nature of football, but that’s never prevented my enjoyment. Instead, I hope to share with you all some of my aesthetic observations.

I dont know whether to feel thick or not :(

"There are some lovely boots on display today. I often use them to orient myself in a match where players might otherwise blur into something like a painting by Bruegel"

"especially deckchair-resplendent today and transmitting a loud energy, which I assume is eating into the players"

That would appear to be the correct spelling

That went over the heads of a few people. Will she be going to the toolbox?
  • Not sure if I can let my Fiancee come to Charlton anymore after Saturday...

Her: Ooo looks like Williams is gonna get sent off, the ref is going for his cards
Me: Nooo that aint Williams, and nothing happened for a booking.

Referee now books Watt and Williams

Me: See its just a yellow for both player so cant have been Williams

Referee now pulls out red card

Me: Cheering / Clapping the decision, inside Im thinking... bugger got that wrong

We didn't manage to get tickets! Maybe she'll blog the beamback. Cheers (from her) to all the supportive comments - and the 1k+ views!

    Good luck to her.

Always good to read a different slant on the familiar and I enjoyed her descriptive style too.
  • I'd like to read her explanation of the offside rule

    I love it!

Hope she keeps this going into next season, I enjoyed it.

Shame. I'd have welcomed her first-hand view of the first Addicks victory at the toolbox since time immemorial.

i wasn't doubting that the young lady's spelling is impeccable. I just haven't heard one since South Africa 2010. Either I'm going deaf in my old age or the sounds didn't reach as far as Block D - most likely the former. All I heard was the bloke next to me moaning as usual (even after we had won).
  • Superb!
Tell her to keep them coming Leuth.
