Just watched Aston Villa v Leicester and agree with people who say we should go for Wood. He looks the type of player BP wants and come January when Leicester buy in at least one more striker that would put him down to about 5th choice, would think they will need to get rid of to balance the books, all depending on fee (should not be too much) and wages, (he is not a premier league striker) and he is only 23. I suppose though RD will go for an unknown foreigner who will cost nothing, unless he goes mad and gets in another Vetokele (lets hope).
Typical Charlton performance. Kept it tight. Sneaked a lead. Sat back deeper & deeper until equaliser conceded. Then pushed up a bit & held out for the draw.
The proverbial game of two halves: we were good and they were poor; then they were good and we were poor. With hindsight we were wrong to ease off as the first half progressed. We seemed to give priority to retaining our one-goal advantage, rather than pressing for a second when they were making mistakes and being pressurised by impatient fans. As it turned out there was no chance of doing this in the second half when they emerged with Pearce's words no doubt ringing in their ears and upped their game to the point where we were overrun somewhat until they got their deserved equaliser. Thereafter they too relaxed a bit and the pressure on us eased.. Overall, a draw seemed fair enough.
Watched the game on the live Stream, decent quality. Fox played a lot better than against Ipswich. Pope to me MOM. If you watch their goal Ben Haim played it out to Tesche who then hit a screamer. Poor old Fox crucified for doing similar last week! Read Bob Peeters quote about the game in Sunday paper 'We don't have enough quality up front to score goals and win games'. Well for ffff's sake get some. It's down to you and Rolly. Most fans have seen this for ages! At least whenever Callum scores we don't lose. Please, please another Kermy type striker!
Slight difference mate, at least TBH got some distance on it before their bloke lashed it in from 30 yards, last week Fox never managed to clear the 18 yard box!
Slight difference form week before last when the ball came past 2 of our players - between the legs of one of them - completely blocking Fox's view of the ball until the last second, so actually he didn't do too bad getting anything at all on it, whereas TBH had time to compose himself So players at all levels make mistakes
Ok I get it you are Morgan's Dad! Well you've got to be with that insight, who else could know those circumstances last week v Ipswich and be so over protective. He screwed up big time and he and everybody else knew it by his reaction so no excuses please. TBH cleared his lines yesterday albeit not as well as he wanted to but he had no time to think long and hard about the clearance so I beg to differ and unfortunately the Forest sub smashed in a worldly.
If only they were all perfect but the thing is in the final analysis, TBH has a few more credits to his name to fall back on. Oh and by the way I encouraged all the team including MF yesterday so I don't have an agenda in case you was wondering.
1st played some good stuff should av gone in 2up , 2nd half thought we stayed in the changing rooms , take the point though as NSS said good day out with mates and kids , let's av a win at home against Blackpool .
Yes, game of two halves and as usual we won the first and came second in the second .. my guess is that opposition managers suss out that we are just toothless in attack and they tell their players to go right on the offensive for the second 45 .. Anyway, Harriott is improving, the defence is as strong as ever, though Wiggins can't return too soon, the midfield is generally competitive and efficient, all we want for Christmas IS ANOTHER STRIKER OR TWO
Unnecessary negativity on here, we played really well for about 60 minutes of the game, from what I remember of it. This time last season we had no strikers, now we have 1 very good one who's been out of form for all of three games, simple as that really.
Another goal conceded after a piss-poor clearance. Defenders need to be confident enough to boot it out. Our need for a fit striker of quality is also obvious. Would've taken a point before the game but we need to be able to score more than 1 goal a game as we don't seem to have the fortitude to hold onto a lead. It's encouraging to see that we're at least going ahead first and I'd like to be optimistic and attribute our inability to keep it up for 90 minutes down to having young & unexperienced players along with injuries and niggles across the team, instead of laziness, which clearly our players aren't.
I was surprised that Wilson and not Buyens replaced Jackson .. perhaps he's not fit enough for 70 minutes, unless this was a defensive orientated move with still over 3/4 of the game to go

True... And this time next month we might have Vetokele, Harriott, plus a new signing and Tucudean? And with Ajdarevic (!) or another midfielder, Peeters might be able to rotate a little so as to rest players who need it. Depending upon progress in the cup we may have a lot of fixtures in January / February. With every draw our chances of sixth place fade a little but I won't give up on that unless the club fail to sign another top striker.
It seemed to change when BP changed the players around. Wilson right, Gudmondsson left, Harriott then went left and YBG went central. I do not understand why he changed Harriott onto the left when he was doing so well down the middle, or did he just let Harriott an JBG move around as they wished? Whatever reason, it did not work and our passing went out of the window

According to Charlton Live Buyens was only going to be used as a last resort.

Then whys he on the bench.
I think Jackson's injury was too early. No way was Yoni going to last 70 minutes. 20-30, maybe.

Ha ha no insight and nothing clever I was at both games and the Ipswich game was televised and watching it back you would see what I commented on so no excuses or over protective just. a comparable observation between two defensive players where comparisons were being made and I had an alternative opinion to share... Silly me I must make a mental note not to comment again in a public forum Oh by the way I don't think I commented anywhere you personally were unsupportive or have an agenda.... But if you want to wear that cap ...

There's 7 subs on a bench, including other midfielders - but only 3 subs can come on. So it's about options.
Buyens done his hamstring 3 weeks ago. It takes at least 3 weeks to recover from a strained hammy - so he's barely had time to recover, plus I doubt he's done much training, so match fitness is not there.
In reality, he needs a week of training.
And what's the point of risking him with the busy Christmas period coming up, unless there's no other option?
I don't think any of would have seen Harriet as a roaming 'in the hole' type player so full marks to BBP for transforming our in and out (mainly out) winger into an dangerous player. Plus he stuck with Fox who has been very steady. Onwards and upwards.
I like BB but credit where credit is due, didn't Jose play Harriott in that position towards the end of the season? One or two have criticised BB moving 'Messi' to the left wing yesterday but I felt he should have done that earlier as Wilson was like a fish up a tree playing LM when he came on for JJ. Either Callum or JBG should have been switched to LM with Wilson RM which eventually happened. Had a naturally left footed player been in the position to react to Igor's saved header we would probably be celebrating 3 points instead of one!
I like BB and JR but credit where credit is due it was actually Powell who first played Harriott "in the hole" - vs Forest ironically enough last October.

That was the next part of Charlton Lives conversation, sadly I am not privy to why Bob puts people on the bench

Ah, comparable but biased towards one of your academy payers you have followed closely for years, especially one from the valleys like yourself (winky smiley thing). As I've said, nothing against the lad just think he's our weakest link in defence at the moment and not beyond critism. Hope he improves but I don't see him keeping Wiggins out of the side when he is fit again. And comment as much as you want this would be a boring place if we all agreed with one another. Mind you as I have often done when getting nowhere with a debate, you can always opt for the 'I'm out' line so I'm out. :-)

I thought maybe CP had tried him more central but I never went to Forest last year so my recollections would only have been from brief FL highlights. Anyway the point was it's not his first foray in that position but agree he has looked more the part in the last two games. I thought he was unlucky with the shot 'straight at Darlow' second half. He did what a lot of strikers are taught to do, hit it low and close to the keeper when one on one and many go through their legs. Sadly that one didn't. Good report though cheers.
I was there decent point forest gave us a going over 2nd half without really troubling Pope . Bit like ipshit game. Harriot played well missed good chance 2nd half as did Igor first half.
Fact is cousins has to play central week in week out his energy power is a just in centre of park.
Need a biggun up front tho thought pigot might have got 30 mins we struggled to kepp ball up front 2nd half

Having said that, I don't think he's personally looked truly effective in that role until recently alongside Igor. Wrote about it here: http://valleytalkblog.com/2014/12/06/forest-1-1-charlton-callum-harriott-asserts-attacking-credentials/
