People go on about frame rates and so on, but I reckon there's nothing in it. If you play online games get whichever your mates get, if you don't get whichever is cheapest or has the games that you fancy (most come out on both but a few like Halo, Last of Us and Drakes Fortune are exclusive).
PS4 is the more powerful console out of the two. The controller is also a lot better than the xbox one. The controller on the xbox one is like holding a microwave.
They say PS4 is for gamers and xbox one is for multi media all in one.

Aren't there problems with the ps4's controller? One button (I think R2) stops working, though this could just be a small number of cases I'm not sure.
Yes there are some problems with r2. Mine has semi broken, it still works, just the button doesn't spring back all the way. Otherwise ps4 is great. Not played an xbox one though so can't compare.
I've just bought an Xbox One and I personally think it's fantastic. I've always owned an Xbox and been happy with it, but this was the first year I considered jumping ship due to overpricing of it and a few other bits that didn't sit right. Since the changes I'd warmed to the idea and now am pleased I did. It is a media centre and games console all rolled into one, you couldn't possibly ask for more. If you get one, get Forza Horizon 2.............brilliant driving game!!!! Graphics are immense.
But otherwise get a ps4. Better games and better frame rates. The graphical and framerate differences between the two consoles will only get worse over time.
No R2 problems here on either controllers but the rubbery finish is peeling off my left joystick
love the feel of an xbox controller and my mate just got an xbox one and we always play live together on xbox 360.
but, Ps4 is cheaper and more powerful. Which is what won my purchase of a 360 over a ps3 all those years ago. Also, now i believe you have to buy a subscription to sony to play online. I'll be damned if i'm gonna pay for xbox live and playstation plus, so xbox one also has a good case... decisions decisions...
The consoles are so similar performance wise its not evening thinking about in your decision to buy. Ultimately what matters is what everyone else has. All my mates have the One so it wouldnt make sense for me to get a PS4 for an extra 1/2 FPS.
If you dont have friends, then get a PC. Far and above any level the consoles will ever get too.
The plastic on the top of the thumbsticks is known to be a bit manky and can wear away quickly (2 months on one of mine so unless I have some highly corrosive gaming style then that is poor). The r3 button seems a bit unreliable.
But its still awesome, speaker is quality and I haven't had any issues with the touch pad. People complain that the battery charge is "only" max 3 hours or so but I don't see that as a problem. I like the fact that you can charge it in about a minute for a good half hours game and so think that it is good.
PS4 smashes Xbox IMO. I much prefer the design of the hardware and the interface. PSN also seems on another level to Xbox live. But XB1 is great and it come down to personal preference and friends for online gaming.
Games have got seriously good in the odd 20 years Sony had been at the vanguard of the industry.

PC for me personally, youre basically permanently next-gen if you have one. Along with the ability to play every retro system ever made, and old DOS games if you wish. You pay slightly more for a good gaming PC, but its basically the ultimate gaming system in my eyes, and with Windows 7/8, a piece of cake to set up. If you have a bit of cash to spend you can even get games running in 4K or even 8K resolution, something the PS4 and Xbox One will never do. So when I hear how great it is that X game runs at 60fps and 1080p on PS4, Im like "awww thats cute".
With regard to "buy this console because its more powerful!!", historically the most powerful system hasnt always won a console war.
And for the record, I like consoles, Im not knocking consoles at all, but if theres a game that has a PC version, Im always gonna get the PC version.

All that is true but so is the fact that since ps1 the best games for playability have been on consoles and the PC versions of said games are moody and 2nd rate.
A fair point but thats not entirely the case. Games have had good playability since long before the PS1 came around (well..since Pong really!), and from the mid-90s most console games received a PC person that was at worst a straight port with no add-ons, or at a best a big improvement (at least visually), either way the playability would be the same.
There have always been exclusives for all platforms so no arguments there depending on which exclusives you care about.

Yeh Yeh I agree but I guess I mean I see that ps1 as a big step in the history of gaming. Of coure SNES was great and also remember when the Amiga had much better games than any PC. You earlier made the point about the best Hardware doesn't always win through and the Amiga CD console is a good example of that.
Agree about the exclusivity point ...e.g I enjoy playing dota 2 and games like that on the PC and don't think they would work as well on a Console as they are good keyboard games.
The other day somewhere I read a saying something like "when I was a kid I played games and as I got older they got better so I still play them". That's the excuse I am sticking to

Choose it based upon what your friends have 9to play on line with them) and the exclusive games you might prefer. Either way you'll be happy

You have to pay £39.99 on each console to play online.
Having played on both I would go PS4 all the way. Last of us remastered is amazing!
