  • Draw was a fair result.

Both defences shaky in the first. Drenthe had a storming half and scored a quality goal. Moussa got in good positions but took too long to decide what to do / was denied space by Wednesday. KAG was energetic but looked a little out of depth, George Tucudean had one shot easily saved and that was about it. Midfield was a more competitive area. Buyens was good.

Second half, Wednesday appeared to sit back. Similar to when Charlton have been ahead against Wednesday, it did no good. That along with a better shape, Gudmundsson on the pitch, Cousins challenging of Drenthe and Vetekele's arrival, Charlton got a good equaliser. I thought Charlton's energy levels dropped around 75 mins on. Wednesday finished the game competitively.

Fairly equal teams. Charlton will always have a chance with Vetekele on the pitch. It is great to see him back in the team.

Not trying to be difficult but was that the shot that Tucudean hit into the Ground... as one shot he took resulted in a blinding save from Westwood who just managed to track back and tip the ball over the bar (almost having a Scott Carson when Moussa scored at the death v Wigan)
  • " However, Wiggins put his hands up and confessed that his assist for the striker was originally an effort on goal.

He laughed: “I thought it was a shot but it looked like a good cross, so I’ll say it was a cross.

“I was glad Igor was there because otherwise it would have looked a bit embarrassing. "

    Well that's sorted then!

That shot Westwood tipped over the bar was a great save but a poor hit from George, caught it completely wrong, had he made a proper connection I think it would of gone in
  • Shades of Wiggo returning to his league one self when going forward would be the biggest positive -hope he carries on in this fashion.
Big bob's back heel another highlight- says a lot.

KAG - still too early to form an opinion but on this particular showing he looked like a boy amongst men, literally.

I don't agree with this. There were much worse performers on the pitch than him in the first half. His movement off the ball was excellent at times but our midfield was incapable of picking a pass without giving it to a Wednesday player.

You cannot seriously blame our midfield for not picking him out?
Our midfielders have been top draw for most of the season, and I'm sure Igor will agree that lack of service is not an issue at Charlton.

Also... you use the word 'excellent' - I guess giving the ball away in the middle of the park which led directly to conceding a goal is a good example of 'excellent' ?

Were they top draw in the first half on Saturday? I lost count how many times Moussa lost the ball. A bit of an overreaction to a forum post from you as well. Calm down mate. And when I said 'excellent' it was clearly in reference to his movement off the ball. Nowhere did I say his passing was 'excellent' did I?
  • The match had a few too many similarities to the Fulham game, not good in the first and a massive improvement in the 2nd. A spell of plenty of corners and lacked a bit of bite right in the last quarter. Only difference is we could get Igor on, who in the time he was on, showed why he is priceless to us this season.

TBH was motm for me, his defending was first class and the fact he took the game by the scruff of the neck and drove with the ball was another great dimension to his character.

Again I came away not impressed with Cousins, I say it every time it seems. Golden oppurtunity with a free header in the 1st half and not even on target. He doesn't seem to think he is going to be pressed as quickly as he does in this league either and gets dispossessed too much. There is a good footballer in there but his decision making is poor for me.

Thought Grant did well enough. Think he is slowly learning that the things which he can get away with in the U21's, he won't be able to do so in the seniors. Looking forward to seeing how Bob will encourage his game and playing style to develop.

Glad Solly and Wiggins second halves were alot better, especially Wiggins who did superbly with the goal. I honestly cannot believe people were calling for Wiggins to be replaced/dropped, not a world class player by any means but he has come up against some of the best players in the league consistantly and has not shamed himself or us.

I don't understand the criticism for George, I really don't. Young lad finding his feet in this division, is not a 100m runner or show pony. What he is is a young, techincally good footballer who tries to bring others into play. As the weeks have gone on he has put himself about more and more and been far more of a trickier player to defend against. He is definitley a better player than when he was at Brentford first game of the season.

Happy enough with a point after seeing the first half. But not sure how Bob is going to crack this enigma of getting us starting like how we play on the 60th minute.

Igor made the difference between a defeat and almost a win. Our midfield of Buyens, Cousins and Jacko were magnificent in the second half the way they turned the game round.
The thing I disagree with many people on here is our central defence. A silly lunge by Bikey on the goal as well as almost giving a penalty away near the end. TBH often out of position and gives the ball away in silly situations. We have just 2 clean sheets all season and in my mind neither are good enough defensively. Morrison although not great on the ball certainly knew how to defend

Whilst you are correct re Bikey today and TBH ocassionally giving the ball away. They are head and shoulders above any central defensive pairing we have had for a very long time and are better than some Premiership central defensive pairings.

You have either been unfortunate in only seeing maybe their worst game or you need to pay more attention.

Those two, together with Vetokele are our best players so far, by a considerable distance.

  • Can see the same trend happening with George as what happened with Church last season. First 10-15 games people wanting him to do well and highlight his qualities (of which they are very few) but towards the end of the season there will be hair being pulled out with frustration over him.

Said it before, the guy is a dud in this league. Still feel the same.

Think your very wrong there.. The guy has shown glimpses of quality that Church can only dream of.. He is new to the league the country the manager and the style of play! As much as it would be nice of everyone could settle in as well as Igor but the fact is that this doesn't happen.. think it was wenger that said it takes about a year for a player from a foreign league to fully settle in.. give the guy time and I think he can be that player that we need! I know we're not supposed to mention that name on here but he reminds me of a younger version of Yann... give him time, support him fully, let him develop and he will come good!
