We won 13 of them, too.

won 12 on the trot in our Championship title winning year (1999/2000) - in my eyes that's better than 15 unbeaten.

currently we are 13 unbeaten if you include 2 from the end of last season.
  • 4 draws or 2wins and 2 losses.

This is not a trick question, but there is more to it than meets the eye.

If you go for the latter, (more points)

    Than something needs to change.

Didn't Kiely also record quite a few clean sheets in that run as well?
  • Doesn't the league cup count then?

I remember it well. Came to an end against Swindon at home 0-1 who were bottom. We made a big thing of giving them money prior to the game I think as they were in financial difficulty. I think us and a few other clubs gave to their youth team or something. It was a poor shot that squirmed under Kiely, he couldn't hold it.

And Willie Carson was on the pitch at half time to thank us for the donations, and the three points (the cheeky little scamp!).

I thought it was worse than that - wasn't it a (fairly poor) cross that Kiely miscontrolled and put into the goal?
Unbelievable result on the day. Uncharacteristic error from Deano, something like 35 shots to nil yet lost 0-1.
Also, I distinctly remember before the game looking at the odds in the bookies on the concourse and Swindon winning 1-0 was the same odds as Charlton winning 6-0.
Incredible that that game ended our winning run!

A freakish way to end that magnificent run and I'm afraid it was all my fault. I got severely abused for missing my ma-in-law's birthday party and obviously the spell book came out ....

Typical Charlton that. Really weak shot from Michael Carrick that slid under Kiely and over the line.
  • It is my fault - I missed that game with flu.
Did our unbeaten run start with a 0-0 draw away to QPR?
  • Backed Swindon @14/1 that day

Well, we were home and hosed for the Championship

well don't miss any this time around, even if you are on your death bed I expect you to be there
  • The 12 game winning streak started I believe against Palace at home. We were 1-0 down then, off the top of my head, Pringle and John Salako got a goal each.

Yes, then Huddersfield away, a John Robinson screamer on an early kick off at the McAlpine the game in between boxing day and new year's day.

Great season and real, top quality Charlton team.

I read this so literally that I thought you were Dean Kiely. For a split second I actually thought, oh Dean Kiely's on CL. Long day. Always the way though, go on a great run and get undone by what should of been a home banker
  • Which games did Andy Hunt score hat-tricks in in that season? I can remember Norwich away and... was it Stockport home and away?

Yep, Stockport home and away. Both 4-0 I think.

Some good knowledge/nostalgia here for a Monday afternoon. I think I am right in saying that the Stockport hat trick at home was a rarity on Hunt's part. I seem to remember him getting all his goals away that season

Was it Grimbsy we beat 5-3 away on a Friday night that season?

5-2. A number of people got there late and missed a few of the goals because of heavy traffic. Rufus scored that day I believe
  • Ah, 5-2, even better. I may have this badly wrong, but I half-remember/half-dreamt that Rufus also got an own goal in that game.
  • It's funny I can generally remember every game that season, but on Saturday my brother had to remind me that I was at the Wolves game the other week.
