East or west stand away fans

  • They shouldn't be able to sit in the home end. Not sure where Watford fans have all of a sudden cane from...

That Deeney goal last year was quality...
  • How about the watford fans feck off out of the home stands? Any I see near me will have stewards swarming them in no time, cant stand other fans sitting in the home end
  • The one thing that Watford has going for it is that it's not Luton.
  • `you'll never take the covered end'
`you'll never take the covered end'

I've found my dm's, sta press and Ben Sherman but can't find my red braces anywhere.

The covered end should all dress as skins for one game, just for old times sake
some of us have no choice nowadays.
  • The other week someone celebrated an away goal in the West Upper... the amount of withering glances and tut-tuts under the breath was amazing... the bloke was proper intimidated.

Don't mess with West Upper Block M

Hello, Watford fan in peace here.
The away end is sold out for Saturday with us bringing 3200. There are quite a few Watford fans buying tickets in either the west or east stands. Which is better for a friendly day?

I don't believe that for 1 minute. I phoned up yesterday for an extra ticket only to be given the third degree because I couldn't locate my red card
  • Usual dick waving nonsense from away fans. Unless someone is buying for them, they are talking crap.
  • Alo Alo Charlton Agro :-)

i hope they don't, 4-0 down at half time and the goalie carried off with suspected ebola.

exactly, can imagine the box office sending out tickets for the West/East to addresses in or around Watford a few days after the away end sells out ! - haha
  • So you have to have a red card to buy tickets now ?
  • I think this appears to be a common issue with clubs that expect to sell out the away end but will have plenty of spare seats in the home end. A friend had a problem a few years ago trying to get a ticket for an away Spurs game at Wigan. The away end sold out too quickly for him to get an away ticket but Wigan were refusing to sell any tickets in the home end unless you bought online and your online account had been to at least 3 Wigan games prior or something like that (similar to the Red Card I imagine). As we all know, Wigan can barely fill up half of their home stands.

I think an issue would be large groups of away fans sitting in the home end which would be a recipe for trouble. For insurance purposes or to satisfy local policing, I imagine clubs have a duty to ensure away fans cannot easily get home tickets even though there would be thousands of home seats available. I think a lot of it boils down to how poor the away allocation system is: clubs should get an idea well in advance of whether the away end is going to sell out and if there will be home seats available, how best to deal with it. I'm not sure if Charlton has a plan like this in place but in future, either the south end of the East Stand or the south end of the West Lower should be held in reserve for away fans if they sell out their allocation. This works for both business and safety reasons. Obviously this is an issue if we have already sold season tickets in these parts of the stadium, and there will also the issue that there will need to be a separate entrance/exit for away fans sitting in the West/East stand if organised as such.

Perhaps Away fans will just have to suck it up this season, but worth looking into next season, along with any plans we have to modify the Valley in any way. I just can't see us selling out the home stands on a regular basis outside the Premiership.
  • I'm just shocked to find you've a mate who is a Spurs fan A.

I'm willing to overlook certain flaws in people
  • No problem with away fans in home ends - as long as they're respectful. Done it a few times myself when we've sold out or have had reduced allocations.

An until recently regular poster on here can't stand being behind the goal so will always get a ticket in the home team's main stand. Sat with him a few times - most recently at Colchester and MK Dons. Never a problem and most of the fans sitting around us are aware we're 'away fans'.

    Exactly how it should be.

  • If they are respectful you shouldn't even know they are there. Problem solved.
  • Why is football so different to, say, rugby when partitioning fans? I understand the historical reasons why police are hesitant to allow fans to mix thanks to hooliganism and such, but surely there will come a time when football fans will have to grow up and tolerate opposition fans coming to visit their stadium. Realistically speaking, the only justifiable reason you wouldn't want an away fan sitting near you is because you're worried your foot might involuntarily replace parts of their face, and if that's the case you shouldn't be at a football match and probably seek some kind of therapy. As long as you don't jump up and cheer in the middle of a bunch of home fans when your team scores, no harm really.

Anywhere. Just don't dress as cheerleaders...
  • free tickets do get handed about, there is a bloke who sits near me seems to have spare tickets for quite a lot of our games

I'll be cheesed off if lairy away next to me in the West, sat with the home fans at Brentford - not a problem, I kept schtum when we scored, but, just from the conversation I was having with Bees mate most close by would have known I was Charlton

It's different because Football is football and Rugby is Rugby!!!!! You could also start talking about sports like Golf and Snooker requiring silence!!! Footballer's need to concerntrate too!!!! One of the reason's I love football is because I can support my team with people who are Charlton just like me!!!! I can go mental with a last minute goal hugging randoms without having to think about whether there Charlton or Watford.

As an away fan, as long as you don't celebrate the away goal or get in peoples faces, cover yourself with your teams colours, threaten people or act like a general ass then you should be OK.

This does prove difficult for some idiots. Of which there are more in some teams supporters than others. Most football supporters thankfully don't fall in that category.

You've answered your own point there Fiiish.

Obviously, we're not giving over the south end of The East, as it's sold out to S/T holders.

We're not giving over the south end of East or West for the reasons you've said it can't happen.

Seperate entrances/exits required. No proper segregation. More stewards needed. More police etc etc.

It is not going to happen (apart from cup games when 25% (I think) should be offered to away clubs.
  • 15% for cup games mate

Yep thems the rules, unless your one of the big 6.

Suspected Ebola, is he that centre half that can play left back?
  • I think the 15% for cup matches isn't set in stone. It's all to do with practical segregation etc.
If it were an exact rule, we'd have to offer up over 4000 tickets to the away side.
