Boxing Day 1969 v Watford. We went on the coach, drew 1-1 (Riddick for us) and conceded a last minute equaliser. I remember being a bit bemused by the dog track and the bales of straw around the pitch.
My Dad and I were trying to remember my 1st away game.
I remember the walk down the street at night, a massive thunder of feet and loads of long haired, sheepskin coats running past us. We ducked into an underground toilet and the smell of piss and vomit was ridiculous.
Broken ceramics as well if I remember correctly (little changes).
Dad reckons it was Orient away. I don't know but would estimate me being 8 or so (mid late 70s).
I'm sure I will have been to others earlier but that scene sticks with me.
Palace away when Rommedahl scored at the end and Kiely saved a penalty. My primary school was the closest school to the ground so we used to get £5 tickets. Me and dad were in the palace end, he lectured me before the game about how we should sit there and keep quiet. When Rommedahl scored dad left me on my own danced down the gangway screaming c*nt c*nt at the top of his lungs, skipping for joy. Everyone around us had bought tickets through the school and were so shocked they just sat there. Rommedahl is still one of my dad's favourite players to this day.
QPR - November 1970. Me and a couple of friends convinced our parents that is was a good idea to let three 11 year olds make their way across London by bus.
Three Red Rover tickets, and an epic journey around London got us there to watch then bottom of the table Charlton beat QPR 4-1. Two goal each for Keith Peacock and Mike Kenning. QPR had Rodney Marsh, Gerry Francis and Terry Venables that day.
So memorable I can remember what my mum cooked for dinner that night - home made fish cakes.
I went to Hull, Fulham and Carlisle towards the end of that season so whatever came first, think it may have been Hull - Mike Flanagan late equaliser 1-1

Down at our end , proper loop .
Hardly packed in our stand that day and some filthy Charlton fan next to me pissed on the floor rather than use the toilet , was that you ?
Technically it was QPR in 1982 0-4....but I was following Rangers in those days (my local club).
I started going to Charlton when Simonsen signed and my first "proper" away game was that season at Newcastle (1983)....lost 2-4 (Martin Robinson 2). There were so few of us on the train, that the police took us from the station to the ground in a couple of their vans!
Despite the defeat it was a brave performance (came back to 2-2 from 0-2) and it remains one of my more cherished memories because it represented a bit of an adventure. I went on my own and didn't know a soul. I still see a couple of the very few people that were there that day.
WHU away FA Cup 1963/64. We were fancied as they were struggling. Lost 3-0. Mick Rose let one through his hands and one under his body. Bobby Moore was imperious and they then went on to win the cup.
First game away boro 1st game of the season 97/98 lost 2-1 by two late goals, coach broke down!! Had to be taken to a pub, while the copper took the coach to his mates house to weld/ fix the coach. Took ages to get home, met Steve Jones in a garage in the A1.
Posted earlier about my official debut at Colchester in the league cup circa 1978 (4 years old). I cant remember anything about that game so have been trying to think of early games that I actually remember being at. For some reason 85/86 sticks in my mind. My mates dad took us to loads that season. A few that stick in my mind are:
5-3 win at Brighton 3-1 defeat at Norwich (Boxing Day?) 2-1 defeat at Shrewsbury (was stunned we lost. We were terrible and it really was an out of character performance) 2-1 win at Bradford (night game at Osdal) 3-0 win at Fulham (first time my 12 year old mind allowed me to really believe we were going up)
Filbert Street or Highbury, late 80's early 90's, not sure which was earlier....If it was Highbury we lost respectably to a very good team maybe 2-0? If it was Filbert street it was midweek and i went on a Junior Reds bus and have a memory that Morts may have scored an own goal and we might have lost 1-2??

I think I might've been on that coach. I def went by coach to that game. We actually played very well and were unlucky not to win. Start of a great season. I remember a great win that year away at Oxford. 1 down until very late and then Robinson & Mendonca I think, to win it late on.
Port Vale away was great on Easter Monday. Norwich in the night
Excluding Wembley, I think it was Leicester away (at Filbert Street) in 2002. I would have been 11. Think there was some special deal on tickets or coaches so the whole family went. 1-1, with Jason Euell scoring for us.
Googled it just now to find the date - apparently Leicester 'stopped the rot', ending a 7-game run of defeats. The guardian report mentions a Chris Powell goal line clearance, and the reporter was particularly impressed by 'Charlton's young midfielder Scot Parker'...

Mine was Watford away 91. A young Steve Brown got a bad injury and was out for a while after

Not guilty

I kept quiet, but was surprised just how many Charlton there were around me who went up when we scored.
