Brighton at the Goldstone in the '90/91 season. Took an early lead, went 3 1 down and a Garth Crooks consolation couldn't stop us sliding to our tenth straight defeat. 300 away games later and I still have vivid memories of the day. A rare thing to be an away fan on an open side terrace. Good times.
First away outside London was Bristol Rovers 5-5 draw November 1978. Went on the Lewis coaches, what a game!
Think that Fulham game was my first away - so impressed when the first pub (too young to even try getting served) was packed to the rafters with our lot

The Kings Arms I think it is? All the older lot getting drunk and everyone having a good old sing song and then walking to the ground together. Those were the days. Always liked going to Fulham away, especially the FA Cup game 1980..........2.1 win.
December 1984 Oxford United away we lost 5-0 and it was as cold as you like , Vince offered me £5 for my "silk" Charlton scarf which was a weeks paper round back then but I refused Shit away following and shit result ....... I was Addickted to it !
One of the best things of modern football is the away numbers being confirmed , cuts out all the bullshit , I like to deal in facts
Millwall away at the old Den, February 1992. Lost 1-0. Didn't go to the 2-0 victory in the snow, so still waiting to see my first competitive away victory over HMP Bermondsey, only 22 and a half years on.

Me too, if I remember George Best and Rodney Marsh played for Fulham. My Dad would only let me go if we sat in the stand. That lasted about 20 mins before we were on the terraces.
As for that day at Eastville. I went club coaches with two mates, so with us three and you that about it is it not? Away days with Charlton in the late 70's could be a very lonely experience, averaged about 250 anywhere outside London?
I can remember there were 3 Lewis coaches that left the pick up point in Woolwich(Woolwich Tex House)that day. I reckon there were about 300-400 there what with the supporters club and the older mob who went down by train. It was a bit like Chelsea in terms of being so far away from the pitch at Eastville as it was a speedway stadium as well.

I was on one of those coaches. 5-5 with 20 minutes to go too.

The Guvnor rung a bell for `happy hour' and bedlam broke out.
Colchester away in cup I remember wooden floor stand collapsing and people falling down hole. Then passing wooden planks down to front over their heads. We won 1-0 think it was a og.
