Graham in Morrison out?

Maybe only speculation but neither would be a surprise. Would rather keep Morrison around myself but can understand he will want first team football.

Don't know what Graham is like now but should be a good player at this level.

  • Graham would be a great signing IMO, exactly what we need.
  • Not sure why we would let Morro go on a free though?
  • Graham was excellent for Watford at this level. Would be delighted to get him. Obviously confidence could be a problem after a couple of barren seasons, but with a bit of love from Bob he could be a steal. Shouldn't forget that he was decent in the Premier League during his first season for Swansea as well.

Can't see us letting Morrison go. It would just necessitate another signing, since we can't have Bikey and TBH as first choice with pretty much zero experienced cover.

I would guess as a thank you for his past services
  • Unless Morro is going on a loan swap deal for another CB.....
  • Wouldn't be happy if Morro goes. Graham would be decent like the way he plays.

I can't see the current regime being quite that magnanimous. More likely to be a hard-headed business decision where they think they can get a better player in for lower wages than Morro is on. I hope we keep him because he is a good player and we are sure to need him to step up before the season is out.

Like the idea of Graham. Not a goal machine but a good old fashioned centre forward who still bangs a few in, especially at this level.
  • Morro can't go anywhere on a free at the moment - unless his contract has already been terminated during the last transfer window.

He can go on loan as soon as the loan window opens, of course ....... and at the same time, sign a permanent deal with that club to run concurrently from Jan 1st when the transfer window opens again.

That sounds like Steve Brown at the end of his time with us

Morrison is - I think - 24 and has the best years of his career ahead of him.

And we just gave him a new contract.

Doesn't sound to me like the RD way of doing things. And as others have said, he would have to be replaced.

Services that he was paid for on a weekly basis......

  • On the surface it looks as if Peeters does not fancy him and Morrison is not willing to try to impress him. Morrison's body language in the Colchester game was not good. In that situation it is better to move on,although why it did not haoppen prior to the deadline is a bit of a mystery,as a lower division club would have snapped him up, so maybe he is holding out for a better deal somewhere.
Is it really the case that if he becomes a free agent after the deadline he cannot sign for another club?

I honestly can't see RD giving Morro away after handing him a new contract. More likely he'll loan him out and then sell in the transfer window, either in Jan or at the end of season. Just make sure if it's a loan to another Champ club that he is not eligible to play against us as you know he'd nod in the winner from a corner or free kick!

Would love to see Danny Graham playing for us. Always rated him.
  • Really can't see us allowing Morrison to go on a free, especially after signing a new contract, unless he has said or done something that means they want him out, but i can't see that being the case. Just trying to think of a logical reason why we would want rid of him. If he is loaned out he won't be able to play against us so thats something.

Graham would be a good signing for us. Would be really pleased with that.
  • We'd be woefully short on numbers and experience if we let Morrison go.
  • Morro also needs to remember that it's a long season and if injuries, suspensions or loss of form affect Bikey or TBH then he's got the chance to re-establish himself.

He's 26. I wouldn't let him go, big fan of his and we know he can do a job at this level. Bet he regrets signing that new deal though
  • Morro has to be 3rd choice CB so any injury/loss of form/compact schedule will see him get his chance. Dont get why we'd let him go tbh.

Graham is an interesting signing at this level, I'm sure he'd do a good job. Was thinking we'd get more of a quick and nimble striker as back up to Igor though as we already have Tuc and Church?
  • Since 2011, Graham has scored 22 in 103 appearances. In his last 49 matches he has managed just 7. The last three came last season against Birmingham, Barnsley and Yeovil, three of the worst teams in our League last year.

The question I would ask is what is the risk in signing him and is he worth it?

  • It's only been 5 games and if he is throwing his toys out the pram about losing his place, then IMO, he's got to go.

    Play him at CB, maybe.

Is he doing that or some people just assuming he is?

I would expect him to the "disappointed" to lose his first team place. I'd be more worried if he wasn't.

How he reacts to that disappointment now is what matters.

As others have said it is probable that his chance will come with injuries and suspensions.

And there is another big assumption that the rumour has any truth to it.
Oh yeah definitely, my post is obviously assuming that what people are saying is correct. I love morro. Hes my favourite player over the last 4 years but If he does have that attitude then time to say bye

Agree. He's been a top player for us so I don't see that attitude in him but I don't know.
  • Strange - he was captain on the pitch last year when Jacko wasn't playing and he's recently signed a new deal - it would be surprising if he was offski.
  • At the Wigan game from where I was sat he shouted out whilst running up and down the line as a a sub " I may as well fucking sit back down" at this point henderson was being replaced by pope. To me no player or person bigger than the club. Two subs had ready been used. Sure, be disappointed but don't throw your toys out the pram.
  • I'm not buying that we'd let Morro go on a free. Yeah we might want to get rid of him, but we'd get a fee if we held on till Jan (unless he only signed for a year?)

If this is true and he is sulking etc, then get him out of the club, didnt notice Leon Cort ever throwing his toys out the pram when he was backup to Morro and Taylor in the 11/12 season.
  • 'The South London Press are reporting that the club would be willing to let Michael Morrison go on a free transfer.' Surely we could get a fee for him. And Peeters would prefer a more technically gifted defender? Sorry, but Bikey is hardly Gerard Pique is he?

Graham would be a good signing if he could get settled down here but the reason he joined Sunderland is because he wanted to move up north.
  • His comment was made to one of the other subs. May well have been Callum Harriet.
