TOUGHEN UP! Oh dear.0

Well, he gives a good impression in that interview ...now let's see if he can convert it into results.Dansk_Red said:7 -
Here we go.....

Got it. KF wants us to be the the toughest team in the league, but also play with big smiles. Interesting combo

I know it's not much.
But his English is 10000% better than Luzon - maybe I'm being petty, but I always thought "I wonder if the players ever actually understand him".10 -

Glad he knows our history.
Fraye added: “I’m very proud that the most expensive player in Charlton’s history is in my staff and I really look forward to working with him.”
Haven't listened yet to be fair but it reads very contrived. Saying the right things though, just a shame all of the bullsh*t recently has made me so cynical about it all7 -
I think that was about as good an interview as he could have given, came across (as lifers who have spoke to him have suggested) as calm, positive and a confident person.
Worried that he is concentrating on toughening up when I think it's our football that we need to improve. Anyway, I'm glad I finally got to hear him speak and he does not come across as a muppet.8 -
Really enjoyed that interview, his English is very good and seems reasonably clued ablut ablut Charlton too.
Still could be a huge f*** up, but again could be a huge success.
Out off all the opening interviews with Peeters, Luzon and even Riga, this one gives me the most confidence.
Good luck KF you will need it.
Over to you.6 -
Ps with those glasses on, kind of looks like Jurgan Klopp3

One thing I noticed was how he said he had one to one chats with everyone LAST week, then he talks about taking over this week.
Mistake or one for the conspiracy theorists?1 -
Have to say my attitude has changed since saying I won't give KF my support. We all know he has come from the lower leagues of Belgium but as he says he has been here before, knows the club, following our results and watching the games so I hope he can turn our current form around and get us playing something similar to what we were like at the beginning of the season. 100% support.8
-
From the written version he knows the team and division, he's been watching us (on video?) And talks about Boro like he's heard of them.
He's saying the right things, has got Euell in and spoke well about Jase, he's talking up the players too.
Things like "toughen up" don't really mean much to me. All teams are tough but they also have to be talented.
Bottom line is that they are words. Well crafted, positive words but we've had similar from Luzon and Peters.
He has to be judged on results over a few months if he lasts that long.2 -
Talking about being tough is a good thing but I'm not sure the players brought in during the summer can do that.0

He didn't say that he likes to win6

Even though he comes from division 3 in Belgium......CharltonByBlood said:Really enjoyed that interview, his English is very good and seems reasonably clued ablut ablut Charlton too.

He said the home game against Wednesday is MASSIVE.
How did he know?12 -
Asking the fans to help out with providing oxygen to the squad now!
Just how much further can Roland's spending cuts go??9 -
What's much more important, is he a "bouncer" on the touchline, or a stand with arms folded man?0
-
30 odd seconds in he says "red wires" ... Anyone know what he means
Comes across a nice bloke but he's got a "tough" job on his hands0 - Sponsored links:

Having watched the video, mixed feelings. Seems like a nice honest bloke saying the right things but then I could do that1

Very impressed with that interview and even more impressed that "our Jason" has been promoted. I think this is a very wise ? clever ? move, whether it has been done for the good of the team (which I hope!) or to appease us fans? remains to be seen. KF spoke very very well and like other posters have mentioned his English is very good, he obviously left Charlton on good terms with the players that are still here and hopefully that positive time he (and JR) had at Charlton..........
Also Jason said it is a "new start for everyone", I know people have been talking about boycotting and protesting etc but I really hope we, us, the Charlton supporters give the team and the "new" staff our full support and do not repeat the nonsense abuse shouted at GL when he took over, ultimately he wasn't good enough but we did enjoy some change and some good results under his reign. Yes I know talk is cheap but this man (KF) came over very genuine and sincere about loving our club and why shouldn't he?!
Lets hope we have a positive start on Saturday and come away with something, if not move on to the next game. Even with the best manager in the world in charge on Saturday we would be in for a very very tough time, so lets not get carried away after one or two games....................on wards and upwards!!!
COYR........................fair play to the fans making that long journey on Saturday as well, I take my hat of to you!!!5 -
Toughen up is probably referring to mentality, especially with two away games coming up. And also in terms of being organised so as not to concede.0
-
Seemed personable and said the right things. But what else could he do? Facts remain he is hopelessly out of his depth as we, the players and all opponents know. No way will one rehearsed interview with trite questions change that.1
-
Yes it feels contrived, particularly the parts where he brings up the Watford and Sheff Weds games but it's fine as an interview. I don't think anyone was doubting he could speak, it's the ability to motivate and set up a team that will be of interest. We'll see on Saturday1
-
It's a sign of how bad things have become that we are excited we have a manager who speaks good English. Once that's addressed, the rest of his job will be easy!12
