I shouldn't think he cares about how nice (or not) Wigan is as a place. He hardly looks like a sophisticated Parisian with that gang style tattoo below his eye. Looks like trouble and the way him and his Dad have publicly behaved through the process has not impressed.
All he will see of Wigan will be the inside of the stadium once or twice a week, and something flashing past his car windows for a few minutes on his way to and from it, same as if he came to Charlton or anywhere else. I don't suppose he is too worried about how far away the nearest Spar is.
Lets be honest here... most would have loved us him to sign, I include myself in that. If RD wasn't prepared to negotiate then fair play to him too, he is already showing his case by the players and manager he's brought in. Ultimately, my one concern about signing AD was the public way in which he put himself in the shop window. Thats not the kind of player id want at Charlton, especially if he went on to bang 60 goals over the next couple of seasons and then tried to do the off midway through his contract with us. Good luck to him. Wigan need to get promoted this season otherwise they will be off loading all their high wagers like there's no tomorrow.
I've just read the text of an interview with Katrien for the next TNT (absolute must read, BTW). While she does not of course mention Delort, she has something interesting to say about the players as a group which makes me think she might have shared your reservations about his behaviour.
I'm still not sure why I should believe he's going to get a shedload of goals here. French 2nd is broadly our 3rd - thats what their own fans say. Rather Wigan's money than ours on finding out.

From what i have heard his agent has done him the deal of the century, and as much as we don't like the etiquette and way this saga has publicly been carried out, his agent has effectively got his client around double the deal they were looking at getting, and happy to, a few weeks ago.

Can you elaborate a bit more as to what she says?
Sorry. I'm not the author. TNT's out for the Watford game.
Seems to have as much personality as a cardboard cut out, in fact is there any evidence this guy is real? Every photo of him seems the same, same suit , same expression on his face, really weird.
Brentford chairman Matthew Benham had this to say on Delort
We were close on Delort several weeks ago. I think he’s a very good player. It collapsed on agent fees. We resolved that we wouldn’t revisit the deal if that agent – who wasn’t actually the player’s official agent – was still around. Tours told us that they would make sure this agent was out of the picture.
We enquired on Saturday evening, after Scott was injured, however the fee was now higher, the wages were higher, the agents fee was insane (word on the street was the fee Wigan paid the agent was 500k euros – Ed), and this particular agent was still involved, so it was an easy pass. I will be charitable and say that our ex-manager must’ve been misinformed when he announced that we had bid more money than Wigan
The deal was very messy for many other reasons – he is a talented player but it was best to stay away. Then out of the blue we heard about Betinho, who Mark Warburton had been a fan of for a long time, since Nextgen.

Sorry Colin ;O)
What a....KNOB!
he's had a long, tough day and my source tells me that he's flown back to France so that his Dad can tuck him into bed one last time.

so is his Dad the agent? or was this talk of him turning up at Brentford with an entourage of six fellow knobs, true?
Move on.
