  • Suppose a move to Wigan might make him feel less homesick - light blue on the home strip, black away strip. Oh, and feck-all support!
  • Ah Delort...one of the great unrequited love stories... Charlton and Delort the two star crossed lovers.
  • Hmm Wigan or the bright lights off London!! Come on Andy you must be kidding!!
  • You wonder why Ezekiel wasn't offered to us. Looked quality in that pre season friendly yet an a great record for SL. Yet bizarrely ends up in Qatar or somewhere like that

Allegedly on 8.5 times the wage he was paid at Leige and was signed so he can play for Qatar by the time they get the world cup.

But he's already been capped by Nigeria?

  • What strange way? Why?
  • Good luck to Andy Delort and his Dad and six agents for getting his son the best pay day that he could get.I cant help but feel that Mr Delort is overhyped. I hope you have a great career at Wigan. We will probably never hear of you again.

Just how do those Grapes taste?

Maybe wait and see who he actually signs for rather than who twitter/facebook suggest he might sign for before deciding that, actually, he was rubbish anyway.

Felt he was being overhyped from the start although i did think he was better off moving to a team on the up ie us or Brentford. Good luck to the fella though he will need it at Wigan.

    Sod that! BOOOOOOOOO
  • I do feel bitter not because he might sign for Wigan. But the way he and his Father have played out the whole sorry saga on Twitter and Facebook. I would still feel this way if he signed for us.

First of all it's not as clear cut as. It seems once again Tours want all the money up front Wigan only paying half rest in add ons and spread over a few months .. But they have offerd 3 mill .
Today we will see how serious Charlton are in signing him we will either match there offer this morning and he will sign today of we will say no .... Either way today we will know .
That's why I say strange way because we have to make our move today or lose him if we want him .. All these weeks of ifs and maybes that's over now this morning it's straight yes or no ....
Going to be busy 3 days at Charlton and one that may shape our season are we good enough to sneek into play offs are we top half finish or just happy to survive ???

    Thanks Colin.

  • Henry you are right (for once) we need another forward, but begging a bloke to join us etc has gone way beyond his current level.
  • Who overhyped him?? are you have a laugh - his avin a laugh derek. The mention of his name has sent twitter into melt down over the last three weeks, 21 pages on this thread and numerous other threads on this site and others and 99.9% of folks have never seen the bloke play!
    No sour grapes from me.
Who said he was a world class player?
Who said he was going to get Charlton promoted? Works both ways your bullshit replys Mr Henry.

    Who overhyped him?

Not Roland, not Bob. No one at Charlton mentioned him until recently and then BP only said we might be interested.

Did the player or his dad say that he was a world class player or that he was going to get Charlton promoted?

It was only fans on twitter/CL etc going on and on about him.

Now it seems he might not signed people are describing the grapes as rather sour.
    Henry

The player and his "advisers" have partly caused this. I have never seen such gobbing off from a player we are linked with. At least 16 clubs linked - starting with Atletico Madrid and then plunging steadily downwards as nobody bites; promising Lens fans that he will play for them one day; ramping up the fan fever by following their clubs on Twitter, and then effectively creating a 'Delort Family UK Roadshow".

Makes me very wary of the guy. Glad that, as you say, there is very little evidence that our club are seriously interested.

I do though hope for another decent striker coming in, as the thought of Igor picking up an injury keeps me awake at night. Unfortunately Staprix may have had £25m wiped off their revenue budget in St Petersburg last night.
  • He looks like a knob!
  • Has he signed yet?
  • Will be disappointed to see him sign for another Championship club after all this, but if it happens it happens. We might live to regret paying the sum they wanted then again we might not. i'm sure we have other targets in mind as you don't put all your eggs in one basket (unless you only have one basket)

Surely you are not accusing a Frenchman of being arrogant!?!

So you agree with me. It was just fans talking about him.

As I said, no one was claiming he was world class or going to get us promoted. No, lots of talk does not mean the same as overhyped at all. There is a big difference between "over reaction" and "overhyped".

As you say 99% have never seen him play and I don't recall anyone saying "he is the saviour".

    Caused what?

So because he and mainly his dad have talked about where he might be going the rest of us have to believe it all?

Massive over-reactions from people, including you Richard, to a few tweets, massive over reaction and sour grapes when it is mentioned that Wigan might sign him.

No one was forced to massively over react and quite a few didn't. Some of us were content to say "que sera sera" but some others had to predict the fee, the signing day, tell us that their "sources" had told them he was signing today, tomorrow, at the next game, etc etc etc or in your case how the fee would be structured.

It is you and others who have over-analysed this to the nth degree when it reality the old truth remains. Deals are only ever 0% or 100% done and I'll believe it when it is on the OS.

Unfortunately Staprix may have had £25m wiped off their revenue budget in St Petersburg last night.

Forget Staprix, this deal was scuppered by Reza's sale breaking down. The loan fee was less than we had budgeted for hence the reluctance to meet Tours price and the non-signing of the 2nd player Athletico Addick predicted.

It happens, not Roland's fault. Good housekeeping if anything but it meant plans changed.

Still time for Delort and/or others to sign or there is the domestic loan window from 8 September.

Does a Belgium club even make that kind of money for getting in the group stages of the Champions League, thought it was a fraction of that.

Nope, just checked, Anderlecht only made €12m from the CL groups last year, Basel made more
