  • If the amount in wages is massive compared to us than I understand it because he's looking for the best deal. However, if the numbers are close then I see no reason why any footballer would choose Wigan, ever.
  • Thing is Wigan need to get back up this season, so have to gamble. If they fail to do so they will have one hell of a fire sale.

I don't think Delort did choose Wigan.

Wigan are close tonight to a deal for the transfer of Tours striker Andy Delort, but nothing is complete yet. More to follow. #WAFC #ToursFC
  • Roland's hard stance may be admirable but it will only work if we pick up someone just as good as plan B. Otherwise all we have done is lost out on a player we wanted and not got another striker in.

Andy Delort and Wigan: Talks are now advanced

Get French Football News has been informed by local sources this evening that Andy Delort’s talks to join Wigan Athletic have been positive in the last 48 hours.

Tours President Jean-Luc Ettori confirmed that talks have occurred when contacted by La Nouvelle Republique this evening:

“A provisional agreement does not mean a signing. Tours still have to reach an agreement with Wigan for the transfer. There are contacts and we are continuing discussions. The first and most important thing was that Andy (Delort) reaches an agreement with them. That has been done.”

Sounds like Delort is just agreeing with anyone who offers him a half decent salary but the Tours President still isn't budging?

In that respect, Wigan are no closer to signing him than we are.

Sounds like Wigan are in a similar position to the one we were said to be in?

    They're at our stage!
  • #hashesignedyet?
  • #hasandydelortsignedyet?

    NO
  • But if he has agreed a deal to Wigan he clearly dont want to join us, otherwise surely he would of turned them down
  • He has agreed terms with us both.

He just wants out of France, who can really blame him. They have no Va Va Voom.

I honestly don't think he's that fussed where he ends up as long as it's a half decent Championship team that is showing some ambition. The more offers he accepts, the more likely he is to get a move.

It does show that he doesn't necessarily have his heart set on Charlton but then again, why would he?
  • You wonder why Ezekiel wasn't offered to us. Looked quality in that pre season friendly yet an a great record for SL. Yet bizarrely ends up in Qatar or somewhere like that

Wigan have agreed a deal to sign highly-rated Tours striker Andy Delort. #wafc

It's like that moment when Darth Vader kills Obi Wan.

    Noooooo!
    Spoiler! ;-)

Wasn't it something like an £8m fee they got? That's probably why.
  • FFS just recall Reza and have done with it.
  • Be a shame to be gazumped on this one when we seemed to have the ball in our court for so long. Looks like its a case of being in a position to wrap it up a couple of weeks ago, but for a few thousand pounds to stand in the way. Hope Roland's tactic doesn't backfire
  • Someone should send some pictures of Wigan itself to his twitter account. That should put him off!

I'm reading it's a 3mill deal, I won't believe it till I see it (still) didn't we offer a similar price and Tours said no? Wigan seem to be in the same position as us and all the other clubs linked. If they pay the 5m Tours want then good luck to them and Delort, here's to hoping a few days from now the Charlton twitter feed starts announcing our new signings.

I think it's harsh giving Delort stick anywho, he may look a bit of a plum but he was engaging with Charlton fans over Leeds fans on twitter and we know he agreed terms, it's not like he himself ever did us harm. Tours in a tough spot and our owner is a tough business man, nothing more.
  • I can cope with missing out on Delort, as long as we don't sign Tom Cleverly.
  • But he hasn't met Wolves or Watford yet
