Christophe Soumillon elbowed Rossa Ryan off his horse mid race and has received a 60 day ban for doing so. Extremely fortunate that the punishment is so lenient and one can't help thinking that had that been a 7lb claimer then the penalty would have been more severe. The biggest joke is that he will be allowed to ride at the Arc meeting this weekend which waters down the punishment even more given that we are coming to the end of the flat season.

Anyone else struggling when you hear "in the colours of the King" on two fronts - once because they were the colours of the Queen for all of my lifetime watching racing and she was such a big fan of the sport but also because one hears that King Charles is selling off a number of the horses even if there is a suggestion that this is normal for the time of year.

He has been an owner in his own right as Prince of Wales - but I tend to agree that the ownership is likely to reduce significantly as well as the Royal Stud being wound down.
I would imagine though that the Royal colours will continue to be seen on course, albeit in reduced numbers.
I bet Callan couldn't believe his luck - winning doing cartwheels on a 50/1 shot, only to eventually find out that his ride on a horse that had next to no chance of winning actually cost him 12 days wages!
Anyone see Callan riding out a finish last night with a lap still to go? Absolute shocker.
No excuse for that. He had only been riding for a minute when he rode that finish. He must have known that it was a two mile race. Should have got more than 12 days in my opinion.
