The 23 year old is going to England to sign for Charlton, in the English Second Division. Tomorrow it will be made official.
Charlton finished last season in 18th position with 51 points, 7 away from Doncaster Rovers, first team below the line (relegation place).
PP, SC, JP and IV are the forwards currently competing with Tucudean for places at the English club.
RD, who is the owner of Charlton, also finances Standard Liege.
(Or something like that, if that makes sense).
Romania means New Rome, I believe and was part of the Roman Empire. Romanian is actually a Romance language (rooted in Latin) and has similarities with Italian, French, Spanish etc
Part of me likes the stability of having most of the squad signed to long term contracts. Part of me is fearful if they are poor, we are stuck with the same team with little flexibility under FFP for the next few years. Let's hope the networks talent evaluation works this summer.

He is arriving just as another long term contract network signing, Piotr goes to St Truiden. That suggests that players who don't / can't make their mark in the Championship might try their luck elsewhere. We might lose something on transfer fees but at least we won't be locked into paying salaries for non playing players. And that can only help in terms of FFP. I don't know the rules in Belgium but I think they have tight fiscal controls. Therefore they will also want to loan out any non playing players to keep costs down.

I doubt if minor Belgian clubs pay the same wages as English championship clubs and Polish Pete is unlikely to be taking a pay cut. Who knows how Roland's payroll operates, but leaving that to one side you'd normally expect us to be subsidising his wages in this situation. It's hard to say how it might work in reverse, but I am willing to bet that Liege were subsidising the latest guy back in Romania and that the reason he is coming to Charlton is that Roland thinks he can get more value putting him in Charlton's squad than loaning him out there. The question is whether this trumps Charlton's requirements, meets them or is simply additional to what we might otherwise have.
