  • I cant upload the pic but Peeters did indeed sign gudjohnssen for Cercle Brugge
  • I didn't know that! Wow.
  • well past his sell by date, would take him a player/coach deal maybe
  • Could he not add something in the way Di Canio did? Ability on the ball and a good football brain?
  • It's more what he can offer in.the changing room and around a very young squad

As long as he's not going to try and teach them how to make money gambling:

Agreed. Different sort of player but there's a bloke playing at the moment who's the same age...
  • I mean in football terms not social skills
  • I still think gudjohnssen would be quality at championship level Kermo type style but IMO way better! would bring people into play hold ball up etc and knows where the goal is! imagine getting him and then later Tucudean
  • 36 in September, too old
  • 2.5 hours left before Millwall Bobs first lie. That'll cost him brownie points....

  • Hope it's Tucudean not Gudjonssen.
  • Chris Wood..

On twitter Son Of Rufus, who claims to work at Gatwick, says the first team came through earlier with a tall blond New Zealander with them. People obviously said Chris Wood and he checked and said yep it was him. Would be surprised but the young lad is not a wum.

He was telling fibs after all.
  • Remember Kevin Phillips... If Gudjohnson is good enough he's young enough!
  • Gudjohnson maybe a bit too old and I don't agree we should sign him just for what he can offer the dressing room BUT if he's fit then maybe he could do a Di Canio for a season. I'll leave it to Big Bob to decide.
  • Hope it's Tucudean not Gudjonssen.

    Hope it's both.

Was Eidur a serious suggestion or just a random punt at a player like the beginning of the thread? I used to think he was massively underrated at Chelsea but he is meant to be a bit of a mercenary and has had a lot of injuries so I'm not sure he would add much to the side playing wise or as a leader/role model. I suppose if Peeters thinks otherwise from his short time at Brugge then fair enough, would be exciting regardless.
  • @KieranRufus: shows how easy it is to start a rumour however, I just made loads of people believe Chris Wood has signed for us, come on guys haha! #cafc
  • Gudjonhsen would be a great signing.

    If it was still 2004.

    because he is 36 ffs
  • Haha cannot believe how many people had a chew as soon as I said it. I can confirm all the charlton team did come into my work as they jetted off to Spain, but the Chris Wood part was just for a chew, obviously everyone was very hungry haha! Anyway fingers crossed it is him to make me look mystical, or maybe even someone better, hopefully will be a good season! COYA!
  • If Gudjohnsen was coming in as a coach then yes, as a player NO
  • What a little scrotum. How sad must you be

Gudjohnsen used to be one of my favourite non-Charlton players. A real classy player who never really relied on pace so as long as he's been looking after himself he could well still have something to offer at 36.

Agree with Scoham though that I hope he would be in addition to Tucs because I'm not sure we could rely on Eidur to be involved in every game during a long hard Championship season. Would still be pretty excited to see him play for us though.

Highly likely to be a bollocks rumour though.
  • I've have not heard anything about gudjohnsen but I would 100% be happy if we signed him, go on bob.. Bring him in!
