Look, nothing personal - i'm sure he's a nice guy and all that, but why is he still even at the club? He's not a striker, backed up by the fact he doesn't actually score any goals! For the last couple of seasons, our main downfall has been the obvious lack of goals. With the exception of Kerms, we've had no decent striker at the club. I hate to say it, but I was disappointed to hear he played for us at the weekend. I hoped he's maybe moved on and found another club. I wish him all the best, I really do, but somewhere else. I thought he was out of contract? Has it been renewed?

And he's crap at everything else.
But then everybody knows that already.
Next discussion, please!
Who knows, maybe a 4-3-3 will suit him?
At the end of the day Church has pace but he's not the type of Striker who can take the ball on the half-way line and run at the Defenders.. instead he's the type that will hang around the 6-yard box being a poacher (like his goal at Blackburn) or being a nuisance (like how he got in the Goalkeepers way for Dervite's goal against Bournemouth), put the service into those areas and we may see him score more often.
Of course as well he's nothing like him in terms of ability but it was always the same with Gary Lineker... How many goals did he score after running at Defenders.. very few... How many goals did he score for being in the right place at the right time? (Quite a few)... Church of course cant do that as he's always expected to run the channels etc...
One factor could have been our pitch... at times last season you saw the ball bounce like a rugby ball and wasnt it Church who came out somewhere and said that the pitch made it very tiring to run on.
Final point... Of course again Church is nothing like him but Diego Costa prior to last season had scored a maximum of 10-goals in a season and I certainly hadnt heard of him... Liverpool put in a bid of £10m and it was rejected - at the end of last season Costa had scored 27-goals and has joined Chelsea for £30m (?) of course Church wont hit those heights but whats to say with a bit of confidence he cant too get amongst the goals next season.
Oh yes "Because he's shit" zzzzzzz
A press report on the recent Wales friendly in the Netherlands had Church "scampering away down the wing". I like the scampering - remember in one of the last home games last season he chased down a defender and then the back-pass to the keeper? Video evidence was inconclusive as to whether Church was kicked by the keeper or slipped on the turf, but my point is that I couldn't see Obika or Sordell ever running with such determination to chase down a back-pass in the first place.
If I remember, a lung bursting run from the halfway line to pick up a good through ball, went past a defender, drew the keeper and scored.
He's probably one of those forward players who snatch at the so called easy chance, but score when they don't have time to think about it.
Re ... the Blackburn game, I don't recall him hanging around the 6 yard box.
Church made a strong run from deep, and was picked out from the left with a sublime cross into his path, which he volleyed home more or less on the run as he arrived inside the penalty area.
That goal and the one v Doncaster I described above, were both superbly taken goals at the end of Church's trademark strong running.
There we are, that's his strength. We need to play to it.
Maybe different because Henry's one of the finest finishers to have ever played the game...
The moment you hesitate, you're lost.
When I was playing and went one on one with the keeper, I did the same thing every time - quickly get as central as possible, draw the keeper off his line and run at him as if he were a fullback; drop a shoulder one side and accelerate past him on the other.
The key was to get the keeper to commit.
Invariably I scored each time; on occasion a keeper guessed the right way but because I'd accelerated he could only foul me from behind - penalty.
He reminds me of that one player in a Sunday team who always turned up, gave 100 per cent and at the end of the season always picked up an award for his hard work and commitment, even though everyone knew he was shit.
Hope he proves me wrong this coming season but that's like asking emile Heskey and Michelle Keenan to give birth to Asian children
You attack as a Team so you defend as a team...
Church running the channels forces the Defenders into rushing their pass and so either hit it long back our defenders or slice it out for a throw-in, its not a defenders or midfielders job to do that as they've gotta keep their shape so the opposition dont find spaces inbetween the two lines
You want to be succsssful at Football then first and foremost you've gotta put in the hard work / graft as if your lazy and cant be bothered your ability / potential will disappear and you'll fall down through the Leagues
